  • Signed up after the last log in. Starting weight: 215 lbs. Last week: 211 lbs Todays weight: 212 (I knew the Mexican and Chinese food was goiing to kick me in the butt) Today is a new day! It has been raining here in Houston SO MUCH it has been hard for me to get my walking in but I am hoping to have plenty of chances to…
  • You can do it! Setting realistic goals and having encouragement and accountability while logging my food everyday has helped me to be the most successful in the past. That is why I love MFP. I am starting another journey of needing to lose 60 lbs. I went back through my weight tracker and looked at how my weight has always…
  • Welcome to MFP! Congrats on your endeavor to be more healthy. I have been off MFP for awhile now and decided I needed to face some change in my eating habits. I had lost quite a bit a weight due to depression and then gained it all back and then some. You can do it! It will take time but the reward will definitely be there.
  • I am another prodigal child of MFP. I've been away for too long. Welcome back and best of luck on your weight loss journey.
  • Welcome! And congrats on starting your weight loss journey.
  • Welcome! I have never been diagnosed with PCOS but I do suffer from cysts and endometriosis. Makes life hell most months. :) You got this!
  • I did WW as well for awhile. I had success but it was more of a financial decision for me. Welcome to the MFP community.
  • Welcome to MFP. I quit weight watchers when I found this site (or rather a friend told me about it). I'm on my second year of my weight loss journey. I have about 40 more pounds (~19 kilos) to go. I have found that tracking my food is a great way to keep myself accountable to "SEE" what I'm putting in my mouth. And of…
  • I fell off last Sept. I too have had to "find a new wagon". You have a lot going on. I commend you for all that you are juggling. First of all, keep up the great job with your education! I have been a single mom for 14 yrs. and I finally finished my B.S. in 2008 after many years of working full time and going to class. I…
  • I'm in the 40-50 lbs. range. Feel free to add me too!
  • out of this entire post. this is what will stick in my head forever, "the proboscis-sporting, hemoglobin-demanding dipterians, colloquial known as mosquitoes" haha! loved it!
  • Great job! I too love walking as my main form of exercise. There is something about getting outdoors that invigorates me. I wish you well on your walking challenge. I wish I could walk to work (its only 8 miles each way) but the 90 degree temps in the morning pretty much deter me from that. :(
  • Swimming or water aerobics, definitely. I'm a beginner when it comes to working out. I'm not a runner so I do water aerobics, walk outside, walking on a treadmill (the machines at my YMCA can have the incline adjusted for more of a work out), and after reading someone's post on MFP, I checked out some of Leslie Sansone's…
  • I am of the opinion that I do best when I lose weight slowly, eat balanced meals and add activity. I have done a couple diet programs. One I lost like 45 lbs in 5 months and had to cut out SO much "real" food. I bounced back all my weight and then some. The other program I could eat what I wanted and had to keep my points…
  • Thanks for posting this info. I had never heard of Leslie Sansone and had to look her up after reading your post. I really enjoy walking. I will have to check out her dvds and resources. Perhaps it will help to spice up my walking routine!
  • I totally endorse ASICS and Brooks. They are going to be higher end shoes but if you have any concerns with support (arch or otherwise) I would look into investing. They are SO worth the money! I have found with the types of foot problems that I have, I have to invest in better quality shoes and these two brands do not…
  • Just because you dont agree doesnt mean its inaccurate. You have to take into account industries and job positions. There are alot of factors that play into DRESS CODE and I agree with you that dress codes SHOULD be specific, but it doesnt always happen and thus the assumption should always be on the safe side. There are…
  • Having some experience in HR I would have to agree that shorts are not appropriate for work unless otherwise specified. If they are long (and I mean to the knee) and perhaps worn with hose of some sort but generally not even considered 'business casual'. Unfortunately what you have going on is some "loop holes" that your…
  • All items at the local Mexican restaurant!!!!
  • There are many reasons a woman can lose her hair. You are still quite young but hormone craziness can be a prime culprit. Thyroid issues are another one. IF you decide to have your thyroid checked I wouldn't get the basic test because it only tests it on a scale and if you fall within a magical range the doctor isnt going…

  • I think that is a VERY clever idea! Many times I find that when I'm talking on the phone I will just walk around - either in the house or out in the yard.....whatever you can come up with to get some activity is definitely a plus!
  • I am sorry that you had such a horrible experience. Unfortunately, I fear that with the economy the way it is, "contracts" are going to have even FINER print and loops holes that businesses are able to get away with in order to stay afloat. It doesn't justify how you were treated but don't be surprised if you begin to see…
