Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum with diet coke and a twist of lime. When I can find it, I will also use Captain Morgan's Taboo, which is a step up from the Spiced Rum with a deeper vanilla flavor and delicious! Calories are calories...so just make sure to count them into your daily amount. A 1 ounce serving of spiced rum is 60…

Hi there! What is low? The general health guidelines shows 2300/2500 mg. of sodium as a high end goal, but honestly I think that is still way too high! I have kidney disease and I work to keep my sodium below 1500 mg. a day, and try to hit a goal of 500 mg of sodium for most days. The way I do that is by trying to stay…

I have been on MFP for a little over a month. Add me!

Getting dressed for work, I was pleasantly surprised to find my dress pants are floating on me! It felt great to realize the inches were coming off, especially since I had a week or two of plateau! It is a great reminder that it is important to take measurements in order to give myself a positive mental boost when the…

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain TDEE to me, I really appreciate it!

My suggestions: What works for me.. I found that when I drink too much water my potassium stores get depleted. Add bananas 2 -3 times a day to the diet and a calcium and magnesium supplement at night before bed. Also, V8 Juice is a better supplement for hydrating the blood. My doctor told me the combination in V8 is better…

The only issue that I am aware of is that SOY protein intake can be detrimental for anyone who already is taking medication for thyroid. Extra soy can interfere and cause problems with people who are already taking thyroid medication. On the other had, soy is a good alternative for those who are lactose intolerant, since…

It all makes sense to me! Great Post! I just read about Intuitive Eating in a magazine article recently and it really clicked for me, so I had to join this group! It is time to do away with the "diet" culture mentality and the idea of "good and bad" foods.

You look FABULOUS!!! Great job :flowerforyou

Wowie! You look absolutely FABULOUS!!!

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's recently and have been on thyroid meds for about 7 years. The doctor's don't really tell you what to expect, or how your body gets messed up with an imbalanced thyroid. So I agree with some of the other comments, read everthing you can and become your own advocate. I will say that weight…

Hi - I am 48 and just joined this site a small bit ago, and it has been a terrific experience so far! Feel free to add me for encouragement! I know our challenges are quite different as we get older - the weight is harder to lose and we have more aches and pains then the 20 somethings. :flowerforyou:

I am a Weight Watcher's drop out too! I liked the "old" points system, but the new system I could never get the hang of, and realistically, I still didn't know how many calories I was ingesting! I find counting calories through MFP so easy, the database food system is awesome, and I can add items using the bar code scanner…

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's about 7 years ago. I am 48. My weight hasn't generally changed much, but the distribution of my body fat certainly has! I am really trying now to drop some much needed weight now. I do think fatigue can make it generally harder to lose weight too. The important thing is to fire up our…

My pet peeve... is hearing anyone comment on my weight, good or bad. I simply don't like my weight being a topic of conversation among my friends and family (other than MFP that is). There are so many fascinating and interesting things to talk about in life, my current weight, or weight loss is not one of them.

Sugar in fruit is only an issue if you are diabetic, or prediabetic (insulin resistant). I have found that limiting my fruit consumption to my morning meal and early afternoon snack to be beneficial since it gives my body time to burn off the carbohydrates while I am the most active during the day. Also, I have found it…

I make a fresh tomato & basil pizza using Naan as the base, an ounce of lowfat shredded monterey jack cheese and a sliced roma tomato topped with Mrs. Dash tomato & basil seasoning, and garlic powder. I pop it in the toaster oven and dinner is ready!

Select Settings on the top right of your screen, the Account Settings screen will open. Then select Diary Settings from the list. Under diary settings you can define which nutrients you want to track. Calories are a mandatory option, but the others you can customize for your use. I also track my sodium because I have…

Hi, Just wanted to send you a note of encouragement! I have some of the same issues staying commited and getting my exercise and staying on point with my food intake. I tell myself that I need to just worry about today, and sometimes I just try to get myself through the hour and the minute. Stay strong. You can always send…

Great post! I secretly liked the fact that you told your husband to fend for himself. I agree it is difficult to cook two different ways for every meal. My husband says he isn't a picky eater, but he lies. We can never share meals because he doesn't like the foods I like. He is definately a meat and potatoes guy, and likes…

I can so relate! I don't see my family or inlaws very often, but when I do they are always commenting on my weight, or my food. I always bring my own food because I am on a renal/diabetic diet and their meal choices are not appropriate for me. The last time I tried to prepare my own food while I was visiting, (a chicken…
