I too use Carrington Farms, bought at Costco. From reviews I have read online, it is not the best but not the worst. I am very happy with it and you can't beat the price. Admittedly I have not tried others so this isn't much help I guess but why mess with something that ain't broke :) I have thought about trying Tropical…

Yes folks, I realize that ghee really is dairy :) I made the statement based on the fact that the eating lifestyle I follow allows for ghee where dairy is not. The reason for this is many do not tolerate dairy however by turning butter into ghee (taking it further than clarifying it) you cook out the milk solids, removing…

Roasted in oven at 425 for 20ish minutes, slathered with ghee (not really dairy) and lots of herbs of just garlic. I could eat a whole container of homemade ghee with a spoon. It's the very best thing, it makes veggies taste nutty and delicious :)

I make a blend of avocado, coconut, and olive oil for my mayo, mostly avocado. i buy Chosen brand of avocado oil from Costco. Great to know, Clutch, about the markings on the bottles of olive oil. I never knew! I usually buy the big cans of it, whatever is on sale, we go through an awful lot around here too and it is…

MMMMMM....FAT!!! I aim for 110-130 gms a day and 1800 cals a day, only when I am under 75 gms carbs a day. If I have a big carb day coming up, whether it be from a special occasion or something I am cooking for dinner that is within my 20% off paleo (traditionally prepared or WAPF), then I keep my fat lower. For me, high…

My favorite breakfast is ground beef and cabbage. Sometimes with an egg, sometimes without. I keep the ground beef cooked up in the fridge and the cabbage chopped up so I can simply throw it into a skillet with butter and add the beef when the cabbage is starting to brown. I also like a few eggs with asparagus and…

Hello deliciousness, come to mama!!! Need to make these stat. Thanks for sharing :)

I only eat fruit as a rare treat because of the fructose in it. I feel like there are no nutrients in fruit that I can't get in veggies and can avoid the sugar load that way. So obviously, I would choose a sweet potato as an after workout carb :)

Hubinator may divorce me if I do another Whole30 so soon but I will show my support by staying as close to primal as possible. Too much off-roading with WAPF foods recently and I can see/feel the effects. Power too ya, friend!!

I feed both my cats and my dog a grain free diet. I buy Earthborn Holistic for my dog and Wellness cor for my cats. My dog had skin issues and I know my skin got better when I went primal so I thought, why not? Her skin issues cleared up with in a few months. My theory is that we don't eat certain foods because they are…

Love the sound of the cider vinegar and ginger, I drink soda water with bitters and lime at night so maybe I will try this out for variation. Maybe with honey though? I don't eat stevia.....dunno how I would combine the honey in cold h2O though.

I eat 2-3 cups of veggies per meal, sometimes more. I often will eat salad greens with my lunch but make sure I have a good mix of heartier greens because they help me feel fuller, longer. I try to stick with bulky and nutrient dense veggies. I eat a lot of cabbage, asparagus, kale, radicchio, broccoli, carrots, cucumbers,…

If you are eating very low carb consistently, you may be in ketosis. It can cause a feeling in the mouth that has been described as oily or greasy. I have not experienced it but have read about it in many places. I don't know if it will help but parsley is an exceptional breath freshener and mouth cleanser. You want to…

Welcome and glad to hear that you are enjoying this way of life! It really is wonderful and full of delicious food and optimal health!! As far as breakfast goes, I usually eat eggs (love them for any meal really) but I often will have ground beef or ground pork with mixed veggies. I keep both cooked up or chapped and ready…

Absolutely you need to EAT MORE FOOD!!!! Eat lots of food, eat lots of fat, eat lots of bacon, eat lots of veggies!!!!! Once you state fueling your body again you will start pooping again, promise!!! So that being said, you want to get the best quality meats, fats, and veggies that you can. Fats can include coconut oil,…

I am actually hyper mobile so, I am too flexible. Maybe that is the issue. I have tried holding onto my weights while doing the push-ups but I feel very unstable and with the fast paced change-ups in the workouts it is not always an option to do that. Good thoughts though!

This looks like a tasty recipe and could work for the whole family so they are not eating the pilsbury dough PLUS macaroni, and you can take part in the family meal http://paleoparents.com/2012/not-beanie-weenies/ . You could also cut it up and saute it with tomatoes and broccoli or cabbage. Not sure of what else to do…

Parsley sweetens your breath. Fennel, as mentioned, is also really good at freshening your breath if you can stand the taste! It's also good for digestion. Peppermint or spearmint tea after eating would do the trick and is also really good for digestion.

Hi! I am a huge advocate of the primal lifestyle. currently I follow 80/20 primal/WAPF (ancestral or traditional foods) but more and more I am eating solely primal, I just feel better that way! My diary is open and I am always looking for more supportive (read: active) friends! I think you will find great success with a…

Way back when, a few years ago. when I stopped eating processed foods my tongue simply let me in on needing more salt. I used to be light handed with the salt but noticed I wanted a lot more on my foods. Now, 3 years later, I have figured out how much to use during cooking and we rarely salt at the table. I love how our…

Road trips can be navigated but you have to be pretty vigilant. There is a great app called Road Ninja that I grabbed on my last driving trip. It tells you what is coming up at the next exit and in nearby surrounding areas. We were able to find better places to stop that way. However, if you are stuck at gas stations and…

Word up! I catch myself sometimes wishing I didn't know now what I know about how food effects me. But I wouldn't trade how I feel now for anything! It's definitely a commitment, but totally worth it in the end.

Absolutely, its all about proper planning ahead. Some of my buddies may roll their eyes at me here because they know I am a SAHW and I can spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I don't however, really want to! Every week I set aside time to cook up a bunch of food that I can throw together to make a quick meal. 1-2 lbs of…

I got mine on amazon too but a different one from the last poster. It comes with 3 different blades and is pretty easy to clean. it goes on sale a lot, right now it's $45 but I kept a watch on it for a few months and got it for $18 (if you don't mind waiting). I love the thing, I have spiralized everything that you can…

Hmmmm, I stray but, I never claimed I wouldn't. I follow an 80/20 primal/traditional foods way of eating. There fore, I allow myself rice, beans, grains, and the very occasional slice of non GMO, locally produced, sourdough bread. When I do eat these items though, I properly prepare them by soaking, sprouting, or souring…

Clutch, that sounds fabulous!!! I thought I should report back that my pork belly turned out delish! Hubinator reminded me that he wasn't a huge fan of it last time (who is this man and why did I marry him), it was too intense for him. So I decided to kinda follow Meatified's recipe for pork belly carnitas. I marinated it…

Ground beef and cabbage with 2 fried eggs cooked in ghee. Or chorizo and butternut squash with eggs.

This is a great place to post the question, lots of Whole30ers and knowledgeable peeps here! You are not gonna feel great for the first week or so. Depending on how you ate before you started will dictate how awful you feel and how much your body has to detox. But that is exactly what is going on, your body is detoxing…

I try to get my fatty pork bits from the local farmers who take good care of their piggys. It is a rare occasion that I actually get a pork belly from them!!! Just have a little coconut oil, no eating necessary, lol!
