The 5:2 diet works well if you stick to it. I think when I do it I keep the 2 days during the week to 500 cals and the other week days around 1200 and don't count on the weekends. Hard to keep it up forever though

I am trying IF now and in my first week. I am doing it a little different in that 2 days a week I only eat 500 calories and the rest of the week I try to follow a moderate diet with exercise. After the first week I am down pounds probably mostly bloat. Also gave up drinking during the week as that leads to snacking. Not…

Eat more fruits and veg. Drink water. Drink green or oolong tea

Don't eliminate all the things you like but try cutting them 25% at a time. Swap out half your pasta for a piece of fruit or veg. I try to elminate processed carbs from my diet more than just doing low carbs

I am just starting my second go round with Insanity. First time around I got fantastic results and lost 15 lbs. When starting Insanity I tried to eat as clean as I could and never put more than a 400 calorie burn in for the workout. Now I wear a HRM and realize I burn about 550 to 600 calories for a 45 minute session. When…

My knees are not great but I have never had a problem with Insanity. Initial soreness is a problem but just go at your own pace and I think you would be fine. Take it slow and don't be afraid to hit pause if you have to.

I did Insanity before and it WORKS! Of course after I did it I relaxed and gained back a bunch. Just doing my first week now and hoping to make some big improvements soon.

I've had the same issue. I think for me is everytime I get close I ease up on the pedal a bit and relax and that sets me back. I am just starting up again after the holidays and company meetings and hoping to to grind it out for the warmer weather.

Be tough to do it strictly through diet but if you are exercising as well it may be very doable.

I like to have a couple of drinks myself. I switched to drinking Gin and Soda water which has a far lower calorie count than wine and less sugar.. If I am eating good I have a hard time eating my calories anyway so I have a couple of hundred left over I can use for a drink or two.

I think diet is a very individual thing. I personally have always liked the Zone diet approach 40% carbs, 30% protein, and 30% fat. I like to go very light on the starch and flour based products and find my body likes when I eat more gluten free. At the end of the day it is just watching your calories based on activity…

One of my resolutions for this year is to clean up my eating. Currently unhappy with my eating and drinking holiday binge so going to try to button up a bit. Right now I am real bloated but figure a couple of weeks of good eating should straiten me out so I can get back to achieving my goals.

BMI 27 and most like someone from Cuba. Interesting

Didn't realize Netflix had workout DVDs. Will have to check that out!

I forgot about running sneakers!! I replace mine about every 6 months at about $110 each time.

Pretty sure I polished off a 16 inch pizza and then ate a pint of ice cream and had a whole bottle of cab. Great night

I go by whatever exercise it most closely resembles. For BeachBody Insanity I log it as Calisthenics (pushups, sit-ups), vigorous effort. A lot of people make a custom exercise and go by the calories on their Heart Rate Monitor.

How many squares you cutting that into?

Sugar is sugar but if you look at the Glycemic index of the different items it will tell you how quickly your body will assimilate the sugar. For instance Apples and Oranges are very low glycemic index. You can check out the list here . . . http://www.glycemicedge.com/glycemic-index-chart/

Great post!! Not everything I agree with but it gets people thinking. Everyone here is trying to help.

I think you are doing all the right things. Diet is the most important aspect of losing the weight. Eat well and stay within your calorie intake. If you want to jump start things you could try a 3 day juice fast. When I have been eating bad I think it flushes the evil out of my body.

Sounds very immature, and not a good role model. I would get out now, and hope that someday he gets his **** together so he can have a positive relationship with his son. Verbal abuse is the first step to him getting physically abusive.

Wow! You look great! That is some inspiration to us all.

Depends on the day you ask. Today I will go with a solid 5.

I think Carmen's paycheck are starting to dry up so she is starting to diversify.

I think people take this way too seriously. Fitness is something you do for yourself. I find MFP entertaining and I look forward to the Brat's rants, but this is for entertainment and motivation purposes only. No matter what you still have to do the workouts and diet yourself.
