  • Wow, that linked post is spot on. Thanks for sharing! I like a little peer pressure when it comes to staying motivated but it's when I make those decisions to put down the cake or pass a fast food joint without stopping or put my gym clothes on and just get in the car and go that I feel successful. OP, you got this! You…
  • Only eat what you love! Dont eat it just because it's there. If you take a bite and it's not fabulous, toss it. Why waste calories on less than stellar food when you can just drink them in an alcoholic form!? ;) I also found I was a lot more self limiting thinking about having to lose it all over again. Why is it so easy…
  • You are absolutely gorgeous and I'm so proud of you! Congratulations getting this far, your goal is just around the corner!
  • If you're 5ft tall, you could probably do this if you are very focused on eating properly, exercise regularly and avoid holiday deliciousness. But only because 154lbs at 5 ft tall is considered obese. That's my personal experience. Otherwise it's better to set reasonable goals that you can feel successful about…
  • It's easier to take the cake and toss it. It's even easier if you offer to be the one passing it out. That way you're included in the gathering (not off to the side with nothing in your hands) and you never have to give yourself cake. You also have the chance to let someone else say no with no repercussions. Some hosts…
  • I feel like between one day and the next, I noticed. But it was little things... like being able to see my collar bones. Then the little things started adding up and my brain finally caught up with the fact that I really had lost weight. My family (which I see rarely) commented almost immediately but my coworkers took…
  • Just what I need to keep me focused! I'm 5'2", 41 CW: 118.6 GW: 114 Current Goal: QUIT WITH THE CANDY ALREADY! Ugh! If I don't buy it I can't eat it.
  • I live in the PNW just outside Seattle and I've been hiking for just over a year now. One hike a week usually. I've turned into what is called a peakbagger. I climb mountains. :) I love it! Did 61 miles and 8 mountains in August. I used to be really slow and couldn't do the longer hikes but now 15 miles is easy even with…
  • Everything in moderation while creating a calorie deficit.
  • I'm so there! I went to a bakery for a sticky bun that the internet was raving about. You have to go on a certain day and before a certain time or they'll be sold out. I took one bite and immediately discovered it wasn't worth the calories. I tossed it. My calories are precious and (at this point) I'd rather waste my money…
  • I'm 5'1", 40 years old and I'm in maintenance. I got down to 114lbs and love it! My body tends towards the Apple shape so the lower weight really made a difference. I've been happy at 120, unhappy at everything over 128 (all the pounds hit the gut, sadly) but at 114 I feel spectacular, i have to admit. :) So really, it…
  • When I reached my original goal, I made a new lower one. I just reached that one, too, and set a new goal again but this one is more about gaining muscle. It's been great, other than needing new clothes that don't fall off. No one has said anything negative. My mom said I looked amazing and was I sure I wasnt too skinny…
  • Get a food scale and use it for everything, especially at first. You'll be shocked by what a portion actually is.
  • @popsicles876 I probably could have written your post. Easily. When you're young, the comparisons and comments within the family shape how you think about yourself. As you get older, you have to shake those things off. Honestly? I avoided my mom for a couple years after I moved out because she always managed to make me…
  • I can put my keys in the front pocket of my jeans without it looking like I've tried to stuff a watermelon in a sandwich baggie. And they're easy to get back out!
  • If I know Im going out that night, I dont really eat anything else beforehand. Maybe an apple or a serving of my protein drink. And I try to plan out what I *think* i might eat or drink while Im out so that I at least stay in a decent range. Im short, too, so every little bit counts. >.< But I dont get out much so it…
  • I don't eat clean or probably healthily but I've lost weight eating things i enjoy. It was kind of a big deal when I realized that if I took a bite of something that wasn't thrilling me, I didn't actually have to eat it... Before I would eat it because it was in front of me or because it was healthy or because I felt like…
  • Wonderful! Good news about your blood pressure and what a difference in just your face! You've got this :)
  • Boy, this thread brought back memories. We used to fight over the newspaper (after dad read it, of course) just to read Calvin and Hobbes. I still have all the books, too. I think I'll start again with Revenge of the Babysat :D Thanks for this!
  • As others have mentioned, genetics are at play. My husband tells me regularly that he wishes he had my calves. His genetics refuse to let him gain any muscle in his calves, no matter how hard he works at it. So, flaunt those calves! No one is going to complain, I guarantee it!
  • Im 5'1.5" and when I weighed 147 I wore a 34F. At 130 i wear a 34E. At 123 I currently wear a 32G. I'm getting the feeling only a reduction (or maybe lift) will ever make them proportional to my height. I always feel I look bigger than I am because they're so huge compared to the rest of me.
  • I lost 20lbs pretty quickly on wellbutrin (for situational depression). I was about 30lbs overweight at the time. I started it the same time I started MFP. It cut my appetite big time. That effect did wear off after a few months but really helped jumpstart my loss. My mental state also improved instantly which encouraged…

  • I know i don't lose fat symmetrically though I haven't really thought specifically about my face. It wouldn't surprise me.
  • I also have insane sweets cravings at night. I've had success avoiding eating by having tea (sometimes with honey- measured and logged) at night. I drink a big mug or two. And, yup, head to bed early.
  • Carbs. Beautiful, delicious, crunchy or squishy carbs.
  • I started heavy lifting 2 months ago and I'm kicking myself for not taking photos then. I didn't realize how much of a difference it would make! I wish I'd started sooner. I've taken photos now and hope I get some of the same amazing results I see on this thread.
  • What a change!! Your hard work is definitely paying off. I'm also 5'2 and working to lose 15 more pounds. :)
  • This sounds like a great challenge! I'm at a point where weight loss is pretty slow. I'll go for 4 lbs by Feb 29. 5'2" SW: 127 (2/1) CW: 124.8 (2/16) GW: 123 (by 2/29) UGW: 114 If I do hit 123, I'll be amazed and thrilled. I'm pretty sure my initial loss this month was mostly water but I'm pretty motivated right now with a…
  • Just for today, Feb 10 1. No sugar! 2. At least 8 glasses of water 3. Get to the gym.
  • I like that term "repeat staller". Thats the point I'm at. I want to lose more (or at least I think I do since I haven't been focused enough to actually do it) and I gained 8lbs from my lowest weight so I know I *need* to get back into it but I keep... well, stalling. Taking a little break here and there... A little break…
