Thanks for the advise - you are right, every time I always set long term goal - lose X amount before Xmas, or before summer - they were realistic but very long term - I will try the SMART method now, it makes a lot of sense, thank you

wow, that's inspirational - gives me hope I'm 50, 5'7" CW = 160lbs GW = 125lbs Bust: 38" Waist: 34" Hips: 42.5" Just started (again) on Monday and found MFP - now I am pumped and feel that the yo-yo dieting is over for ever - thanks guys !

You can do it, just remind yourself everyday (morning, noon, evening) of that awful chest tightening feeling. I quit smoking cold turkey 7 years ago, on my ninth try and the almost "self hypnotizing" helped. Find a word or phrase, get an alarm sound and repeat it periodically during the day and keep strong. Hello, I am starting my 3029th diet TOMORROW, no joke, no more excuses. I have about 40 pounds to lose (I hope not more, but will know when I weigh myself tomorrow), about 40 friends to gain and would like to motivate and be motivated by them (the friends not the pounds). So count me in, and away we go !!!!!!
