  • Only been on my diet for 4 weeks now so feeling better, but some years ago when I dieted for 6 months and gave up the chocs, cakes, fried food and started eating good food and taking vitamins my energy got a great boost. Seems a bit harder this time but I am older now so I guess it will take some time. I started doing some…
  • I have been missing my mushy peas so much since I went back to the UK for a visit. So I sent 3 trays (36 cans) along with some other foods back to Philippines so I can treat myself once a week. Would prefer to eat a can with each meal though!!
  • Let's get this Marshmallow Club on the road then! I only joined MFP 3 weeks ago and felt the same way, that bloated feeling, didn't want to exercise. Now the first 12 pounds have gone yes I am able to get around a bit easier and walk faster again, before just a stroll was enough. Friend request on the way.
  • Great work so far fultzjaf, looks like you are nearly there already
  • Okay Maggie, i'll update on the exercise and food next weekend
  • I am so sorry to learn of your loss too, you are amazing to keep going and have lost this amount of weight. I know you have your husband willing you to complete your weight loss target and you are an example to us all here on MFP. We know you can do it! God bless
  • Hello nsblue, First of all Congratulations for losing 200 lbs, a great achievement and well worth the hunger pangs, I'm proud of you. Had you been on the liquid diet for a long time previously before this last week? 200 lbs is a lot to shift I did Cambridge diet 21 years ago and kept weight off for years till I changed to…
  • Hello luvmybentley, I used to be forced to eat Veg & salad as a young kid but my best buddy (family dog under the table) wolfed down my veggies for me and saved my skin! I have just been out for a ride to the health shop and bought some Wheatgrass then power juiced half a pineapple and added a helping of the Wheatgrass…
  • Hi Maggie Yes, us brits can't handle the heat so easily can we? I am alright over in New Mexico or Nevada with the dry heat, wish I had a green card! As far as building muscle goes I do need to seriously look at that but the heart doctor here said I need to lose some more pounds first and then turn some of what's left into…
  • Thanks for your reply Alayajoy I will follow your good advice and build the execise up slowly, it is a real shock that I can only do 5 or 10 minutes compared to last year when I did 30 minutes on incline 6 on the treadmill. I always use a cold, wet towel round my neck when riding the motorcycle, helps keep cool and avoid…
  • I think you needed to vent your feelings prettypain, best thing you could do. This happens to many, many people and it is wrong. Your partner or spouse should love and accept you for everything you are, not just the part of you they happen to like. Of course your thoughts, plans and feelings are as important and should not…
  • Took early retirement, moved abroad to Cebu, Philippines but must admit I do miss work for having colleagues around to chat to. Now I am finding it it a bit boring out here but plan to do some travelling over to USA and maybe Canada when i shift some more weight.
  • As eeeekie mentioned 10 lbs a month is very realistic for people needing to lose that amount of weight. When I was doing really well on my last diet in 2009/10 my Cardio Doc warned me against losing the 4 lb a week I was managing back then. Drink plenty of water each day, 8 glasses minimum and more if you can. Try and…
  • Bump. Just wondering if it was accurate or not. I had gone and bought it without checking to see if Kinetik was a good brand
  • Ok, thanks Amanda for your help. I remember seeing different diets on the market some had a higher percentage of protein than others. Suppose they all help get the weight off to some degree, peanut butter doesn't sound a bad idea. Used to love that when I was a kid,,,, few years ago now! Cheers
  • Oh it's ok pftjill, I just found the explanation of the percentage rates on a website. That is interesting, wish my Doc had told me that before when I mentioned about taking up exercising. Thanks again
  • Thanks for your help with that pftjill. I will check my figures out using the new HRM and see how I am doing. Does 50% reading equal a very safe level and the 85% reading would be okay for short bursts? I am just guessing here Cheers
  • Thanks pftjill, My resting heart rate at present is 55, when I did my last regular exercise it was reading 48. My age is 52, or 53 next month. If you can work the figures out I would be grateful many thanks
  • Thanks for your reply regarding the HRM being more accurate, but any ideas of what my target heart rate should be when walking on a level treadmill or on the incline number 6. Reason for asking is I didn't want to overdo it and cause any damage to my old ticker if I eventually pushed to exercise too hard...
  • Hi watergirl626, I was thinking along the same lines but I did hear that it is more helpful for the cardiovascular system if you do the exercise in one go. Maybe someone more experienced here could let us know, Good luck anyway with your aims
  • Hi Bmcmforfun and thanks for your helpful post, I can eat lettuce if I had to, but may take up your suggestion of bell peppers done on the grill. Not too keen on carbonated drinks (only if I am thirsty while out somewhere) and I use the Cambridge DIet Sunshine Orange drink mix to add to water mostly. I ove my chicken…
  • I used to eat Smoked Mackarel (cold) and Cod in deep fried batter (naughty) when I lived in UK, Now I am in Philippines there are plenty varieties of fish but I tend to get put off trying it because a couple of friends have had bad tummys after eating fish that has not been kept cold enough. Even eating chicken at some…
  • Thanks for your suggestions ReiningQueenBee, I would love to get up to 60 minutes straight exercise but at the moment my heart says No Way. I have started with 10 minutes twice a day and will add 5 minutes to those times each week as well as raising the incline gradually. Sorry, I forgot to mention the high blood pressure,…
