  • Oh I don't (and have never) expect support. That's not the problem. They just keep telling me to stop losing weight and exercising. Even though quite a lot of them are smaller than me still.
  • Oh you guys are so sweet. The love has made me shed a little tear. It's been a big day. My tips: - give yourself permission to experiment with kcals, macros and exercise to see what works for you. This is your journey, only you will really know what works for you. In the end, I found it liberating to be in charge of my own…
  • All scales BF% are wildly inaccurate. The only thing they can do slightly is record a trend over a LONG period of time. Therefore, wouldn't worry about which setting to use, pick one and sit to it to do the trend. The actual BF% is probably wrong anyway.
  • I can 100% relate. When people ask me what's been the toughest bit of losing 100lbs, 100% it has been the mental fight with anxiety over food and over exercise. What I have done (I am no expert or have it figured out btw); 1) I have actually done a short course in CBT to equip me with the tools to learn to cope 2) I take…
  • I would echo the posters above. You need more than squats for building muscle in glutes and legs. For example a recent scientific paper outline a muscle build in the glutes of twins. Hip thrust generated more glute build than squats. There are a lot of programmes out the so have a look on the internet. Again echo previous…
  • I am 59days smoke free. Haven't got the longevity that some of these amazing posters before have before but I can tell you my story if it will help. I smoked on and off for 20years (I am also 35). Most of my life I consider it a good thing (don't ask I know it is stupid now). Anyway the last few years I was getting more…

  • For me protein was key, alongside weight training. I upped the protein and also started with heavy lifting and the weight is falling off. I have even had to up the kcals recently from 1500 to 2000kcal to slow it down a bit as I was losing at over 2lbs a week (I am a female 163lbs, 5'6", UK size 10 - I started this 10months…
  • Massive congratulations on the 46lbs loss. I have gone from 260lbs to 163lbs currently (5'6" female). I started sedentary and then added walking, then spin classes, the resistance circuits and now heavy lifting (this is over the last 10 months) The result of changing the exercise is that I have gone from sustaining a 1%…
  • Someone once told me that Abs are built in the gym but revealed in the kitchen. Not sure how true that is but it was a good line. The ONLY way to lose weight is to be in a calorie deficit. The easiest way to do that is watching what you eat, if you try to exercise your way out of a bad diet then you will be in the gym…
  • Hey, So losing weight is really for no-one other than yourself. If you want to drop some body fat and feel confident then that is your business. As long as you do it in a healthy way, people around should you leave you to it. If they don't support you then ignore them and get on with doing you. Perhaps, if you are bored of…
  • Weight loss isn't linear, as you can see from my last 180days. You will go up and down for many reason that are not about fat loss. It is about the trend. Stick with it. Worth it in the end. Loads of good posts on the blog about this if you want to read about weigh fluctuation
  • I have gone from out socializing and drinking at least 5 nights a week to now trying (and mostly successfully) to drinking once a week and even then only a few glasses. It has really helped with weight loss and mental wellbeing.
  • Well done. You should be so proud. How did you lost 6lbs in December during the month of excess? Blows my mind. That is shear dedication! X My year - I lost 6 Stone (84lbs or 36kg) and am healthier and more confidence than have been in years. Went on 8 incredible holidays. Survived a massive restructure at work and still…
  • I have upped the work outs and as best as I can only drinking once a week. Boy this time of the year is tough, especially next week when I have 3 BIG party in a row. Great tips from everyone. Unfortunately, in the UK health fruit and veg platters are not something they bring out often!
  • I am a 32G and I swear by G-Shock. Bloody brilliant sports bras. Not sure if you get them in the USA. Freya I use for a everyday bra.
  • Today I finally got into the last of my 'skinny' wardrobe, couldn't come at a better day after of weeks of a SD (scale defeat). Let's hope the skirt will be too big soon!
  • Great advice. Especially not hanging by the food. Don't want to stress about but don't want to not socialise. What's the point of having a banging new bod if I can't show it off!!
  • Actually I have found I have better results this time as I have no lost any of the learnings from the last time round. I know what worked and what didn't. You can do this...all you need to do is start and just log one day at a time. X
  • So I started (again) in April with 115lbs to lose. Seemed an impossible task at the time, however, it is now Dec and I am down 80lbs. It has been tough but it has been totally worth it, mentally and physically. Having a purpose has been amazing. Remember, time is your friend. Some days there will be gains and some days…
  • I do have cheat meals/days. Usually once a month, it will always be at a wedding, holiday whatever. It gives me the mental break I need to not track or panic about what food is going to be served to me and whether I can eat it. I actually find these help my diet. I always gain a 1lbs or 2lb in the days that follow but then…
  • Congrats on starting for me that was the hardest. Hit my half way point today (57lbs lost) and started begining of April. My advice is upload photos to the weight ins. On weeks that the plateau happens they really help with the motivation to see the progress side by side. Good luck, you have got this.
  • Hey, I have had a breast reconstruction (4 years ago) which I assume maybe similar on the recovery and exercise front. For me I started with walking and then added stationary bike (spin classes, sat to start with). Yoga and the stair climber came next. After that non weights HITTs. Then back up to fully functioning. That…
  • Firstly I think you amazingly brave to be saying that you can see that there might be a problem, that is the tough bit, and I am sure you already know the next step is to get some help. Know there is nothing wrong with seeking help, people go to the dentist every six months to check on their teeth so why not see someone…
  • To be honest I think that there is a difference between obsessed and determined (although I am still trying to find that line). To be determined is amazing but prolonged obsessive behaviour is not great for my mental health (probably not anyone's). Being healthy is something I really want but I want to be physically and…
  • I want to be able not to be embarrassed sitting in a plane or public transport seats.
  • Sorry about what happened to you. Sounds like a really stressful situation. In terms of the plateau, I had one not that long ago, similarly, I posted on the community about it. The advice was to up the calories (I was aiming for 1200 as well) since then I have upped to 1470 and the weight is dropping off. It may not be the…
  • A couple of things, firstly are your scales working? Have you tried some other ones? Secondly 12% BF is huge...you should be massively proud and I should imagine your clothes feel super lose now? Personally I wouldn't worry about the scales unless you need to ride a horse in the Grand National. It is about being fit and…
  • Do a pro's and con's list. When I did it I realised that although both staying fat is hard and losing is hard. I prefer the later option. These are some of my pro's so far - Not worrying about fitting in airplane/public transport seats. - Enjoying a nice glass of wine without acid reflux - Being able to walk up a flight of…
