I mean probably the most expensive way of doing by buy/adopt a dog. I do over 16k steps a day, everyday. I mean he cost me a fortune in food and vets so is it really worth the 300kcal burn

Not sure if it has been mentioned above but a standard way to slow your eating down is to eat without distractions, such as tv or phone. Then put your knife and fork down between every bite so when you are chewing there is nothing else going on with your hands or your eyes.

What changed the game for me was to get a litre water bottle with a straw. You can update your water as part of the app or website. Just scroll to the bottom of your diary and the water entry should be there.

I only monitor kcals and protein and then also try and hit 7 fruit or veg a day and at least 2 litres of water. This is what works for me to make me feel good.

Hey, Yeah really old thread but really interesting at the same time. @springlering62 has made some really great points and I am not going to echo as they are really well-written. However, just to give you a counter to most of these women on this thread. I am just shy of 5"7' and my ideal weight is 165 lbs. At this weight I…

Firstly massive congratulations. You have done so very well. My thoughts on why you have stalled...you may have already thought of these or actioned them so disregard if not applicable - Have you moved your kcals down as you get to a lower weight? Your BMR would be lower as you lose weight which means unless you move your…

Personally I find the MFP calories pretty tough to use. The reason being is that you choose your every day activity and the you log your excerise on top. So for me I would be sedentary as I am a desk worker but then do 2+ hrs of dog walks every day and a hours CrossFit 6 days a week. So that would be a reasonable amount of…

Oh, there is no doubt that she was in a very low kcal deficit during the point of carb cycling. Carb cycling, like Keto or intermittent fasting etc is just a tool to keep your calorie balance low. It works for some it doesn't for others. There is no magic bullet to losing weight if there was then everyone would do it and…

I started this journey with a friend we both started at 210 and wanted to get to 165. I still have at least another 10 weeks to get to that. I have been doing kcal counting and losing 1.5 - 2 lbs a week. She did the Body Blitz by Chloe Madeley (which is carb cycling) for 4 weeks and then kcal counting after that and hit…

I have lost 30 lbs since Jan 1st. My clothes are noticeably looser, but the changes are minor in terms of what I look like in the mirror. I started out at 210 and I am now 180. The reason is that I carry weight pretty well. My shape does not change that much if I am over 200 or even at my lightest of 155. The body fat I…

I have the whiting scale. Last night I lost 50% Body Fat over night which is exciting and extremely successful diet. Lolz. Probably wouldn't recommend 😂

Firstly - MASSIVE congratulations on how far you have come. What you have done up to this point is super impressive. Unfortunately, even though you are tracking everything you eat, calorie counting can be +/-10% out because it is not as exact as we in the CICO world would like. This is not because you are not tracking…

So I have experienced with it. Firstly in lockdown (I mean what else was there to do!!) My eating window was after 12pm till 8pm. I was unrestricted during the window. It did not go well. I was binge eating at 12 as I was so hungry I couldn't even think and after two month lost my period which took me a long time to get…

So I had a similar thread a while ago as I wanted to know what number most people would expect after a night/day of indulgence. I went all out at an event and these were my results So the results are in. Sorry I was too hungover to weigh the day after Thursday Event Day - 197.8lbs Saturday (2 days after) - 199.2lbs…

If I am in a calorie deficit I usually will only gain one/two pounds or most likely stay the same weight, then 3 days after the start all the water weight goes and I whoosh of 3/4 pounds. So I am losing fat lost while staying the same (ish) on the scale, and then the weight comes off in a whoosh with the water afterwards.…

Sorry can't help with the travel scales but my advice would be to take a tape measure instead. It is small, lighter and easier to take away. If used well and on several different measurements you can get just as good, if not a better, understanding of the progress.

I brought a dog. Has added 16k steps a day and a shed load of money in vet bills. However, probably cheaper than a personal trainer and keeps me much more accountable to get out walking for 2 hours a day.

You are not wrong. Vegetarian 'meat' is highly processed but so is 20% of my diet, whether that is chocolate, protein powders, light mayo, sweeteners...etc. I also eat 80% of my diet as nutrient-dense foods. I am very comfortable with this. In terms of carbon impact. Quorn sausages are 14x less impactful than beef and 4x…

Hey, you are very right I should take in the average a bit more. I use a spreadsheet myself but maybe looking at an app would be good. I have downloaded Libra and Monitor Your Weight, just now. As I have a smart scale it is super easy to put in data. Libra seems to overestimate the data but Monitor Your Weight is giving…

I will happily take water weigh for the ozone hole!!

I am not sure what a woman has to do with anything...Women have the same potential to grow muscle as men. Here is a good peer-reviewed journal which demonstrates this exact point. I am afraid that thinking anything else is just 'bro' science and has been discounted a while ago. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11890579/ I…

Hey, The other thing that may be happening is that if you are doing heavy lifting again after a break and focusing on a good level of proteins you may be building muscle. Muscle is great for so many reasons, higher metabolism, better health in old age...etc. So it really is a great thing. Also, muscle weighs so much more…

Hey Claire, Unfortunately, weight loss is not linear. There are so many things which will cause weight gain that is nothing to do with your body fat %. Here are a few which may be happening. - An increase in salt or a decrease in water intake will cause water retention. - Women who have menstrual cycles are known to retain…

Hey, I am sorry you are struggling. I don't think there will be many people on this site who haven't at some point or currently have a problematic relationship with food. So you are not alone. It took me a very long time to realise I was using food as self-punishment, rather than fuel or even joy. Although I had been on a…

I log all my meals at the beginning of the day or the night before. I then know how much I have to play with for snacks. If I am going out for dinner I look at the menu before and I log what I want to order. I find it easier to stick to the kcals that way.
-
One way to find out if it is water is to up your water intake. This sounds counter productive but it really helps shift any retention. Worth a go at least. The worse (as long as you don't go mental and flood your body on more than 1L an hour) that is going to happen is that you need to pee once an hour!

So the results are in. Sorry I was too hungover to weigh the day after Thursday Event Day - 197.8lbs Saturday (2 days after) - 199.2lbs (+1.5lbs up) Monday (4 days after) - 196.4lbs (+1.4lbs down from the event) I did not hold back on the evening with drinks and a three-course meal. The next day, as planned, I went back to…

I think that the cautionary tales are just saying that the calculator won't be suitable for everyone but probably most. It is about starting somewhere and the calculator is a great tool to get you to the start line. It is then about working out what is right for you. That will only be known through the personal experience…

Thank you all for your tips and advice. The event is tonight. I am nominated for Great British Business Women of the year! Very exciting. As per a few people's suggestions, I am just going to log '3000' kcals under 'Night out Banner'. Then tomorrow morning, I will get up and just go back to normal. I will weigh each day as…

I really could not agree with this list more. Water and marcos especially. Thank you for the great advice @AnnPT77 The one thing I do see every time anyone talks about loose skin is that no matter if you have it or not everyone is happier that they are a healthy weight with loose skin than not losing the weight at all.
