  • I don't think the OP was looking for an argument. I quite like DDP Yoga. It works for everyone, but it's a good progressive exercise plan that won't scare you away if you're new.
  • Longmire: That's not at all who I thought was at the door.
  • Last night I dreamed my husband found out he'd won the Nobel Prize. All we did was joke about curing his scrofula from shaking hands with the King of Norway.
  • No. I don't. But if it makes you feel good, I guess keep doing what you do. I'm not sure how this got to evolution. It doesn't directly relate to the question of fate.
  • I go for middle, ideally. But honestly, I'll probably be happy with anything into the normal range, but I'd like the buffer of being more to the middle.
  • how stiff you'll feel from sitting still for hours, when you're used to exercising. how your legs and butt will no longer go numb from sitting in certain positions. how nice it is to have calves that fit into cute fall boots without that elastic goring in the back. What eating too much sodium actually feels like. When I…
  • Log every single thing without restricting. Look at your macros (protein/carbs/fat...). Are there days where your eating is more in control? Look at those days and see what's different--maybe more protein, or fat, etc. Then make sure you're getting enough water. Sometimes our brains confuse thirst for hunger. Are you…
  • You're liver is the only detox you ever need. Honestly. Save your cash. Most of the time you're ditching water weight and any food in your bowels. It's probably pretty bad for you and your wallet. I saw this meme a few weeks ago and it applies. Best wishes!
  • I'm a fan of baby pizzas made with Thomas' light english muffins. They have a lot of fiber and it's easy to portion control. Some people make pizzas on whole wheat tortillas or flat outs. But I find faux crust that thin unsatisfying. English muffin, skim mozzarella, muir glen tomato sauce (it's the lowest in sodium I can…
  • It's kind of fun! I used to have a Hoodia gordonii. But I accidentally over watered it. :'( RIP
  • Love it! I call it "slogging" for some reason. Some days it sure feels like a slog. I'm Katie and I'm 5'3" and 34 years old. I've lost 30lbs and have about 40 to go. Feel free to add me! :) You can do it Jaquelyn! It's hard work, but once you get in the groove you can get there. *hugs* I try to stress walk instead of…
  • I think that's what my MIL used. It worked great for her. She's dropped 50+ lbs--mostly with food management.
  • Doing it!
  • I weigh myself daily in the morning, etc, etc. as the person above me. I find the data useful. I tend to spike and then drop down lower, and spike and drop in my weight loss. There's a pattern. It's nice to see it so I don't get too discouraged and know when a pattern emerges that doesn't fit the norm. That said, I also…
  • Blazing--have you tried the Recipe Builder on MFP? I find it really helpful for foods that I make at home. Then you can save it and never worry about guessing the calories again. I love it. Something to consider if you're wondering about the foods you make.
  • No one would be upset if my answer to the question was a simple negative response--in fact not a question at all? Did you know, wine sounds like a great idea?
  • What if my response to the thread question was just "no."? Would everyone kill me?
  • So far this month 259314 steps for a total of 114.19 miles.
  • There's a gym down the road called "Planet Fitness" does that count? :D
  • Yup. I may not look it, but my arms are deceptively strong.
  • double tall nonfat caramel macchiato. I don't like sugar free syrups so I don't get them "skinny" and I have an extra shot (the double part) added because I don't like it too sweet and I want the extra coffee. It's just perfect for me. When I've lived in larger cities I loved getting all of the Clover brewing system…
  • So glad you're here! Besides, if you log the calories in those drinks that'll solve the mystery of weight loss really quick. All sugars and all sad, sad, empty calories. Especially if you have any diabetes related issues. Booze can really spike your blood sugar. No bueno. I wasn't a big drinker before MFP, now maybe once…
  • Sexedee10 put it in smoothies. It'll add any sweetness you might want and the unsweetened frozen fruits (or whatever) will calm down the taste of the sugars. Some of those are definitely too much for me as well, but in a smoothie it works out okay.
  • Sure. You've got three months. Then again, the closer you get to your goal, the more you'll have to up your game. More exercise, etc. 140 isn't unreasonable. Besides, as shadow2soul said, worst case, you *almost* reach your goal. No harm in losing anything at all really, so it can't hurt to try!
  • Hi Jackie. I'm Katie. It's amazing how life can eat us up and spit us out sometimes. I just searched to forums for the word "anxiety" for god's sakes. I'm so sorry about what's going on. :( Please be kind to yourself. I had a breakdown a few years ago and got diagnosed with Bipolar. At the time though I was going through A…

  • In Chicago I walked a mile to and from work everyday, it felt like nothing with podcasts and stuff to look at. Here in Lynchburg, I walked about 2.5 miles to and from work, it was a little hazardous--narrow shoulders and no sidewalks. I didn't have much choice (one car in the house and my job had odd hours), but it was…
  • Awe thanks, Jacabyte! (clever name--Restore the Stuart Computers!) LOL. I've doing a map tour and I'm trying to get to the tip of FL by the end of the year. I only need to average at 4.19 miles per day, but I figure if I aim for 5 a day I can get there early/have a buffer for if I get sick. I got a fitness tracker at the…
  • Getting off to a slow start with march--I'm trying to walk 5 miles a day 3/1 9714 4.27 miles 3/2 14296 6.29 miles 3/3 10744 4.73 miles 3/4 12614 5.55 miles 3/5 5655 2.49 miles 3/6 4061 1.78 miles 3/7 6618 2.91 miles 3/8 6212 2.73 miles 3/9 11560 5.09 miles
  • Well done!
  • I say go for pancakes. Don't go crazy, but log it (the logging habit is key). Then back to normal. Don't deny a ritual and feel sad about it. Be reasonable in your pancake consumption if you can, but back on the horse the next day. It's just one day. Although, it would be interesting to see how you feel the next day with…
