  • Potatoes might be the least of her worries . . .
  • Potatoes are a simple carb . . . but a good, low sodium source of carbs. Sugar isn't horrible on its own, the body needs it to function. Potatoes do have their place. That said, I don't eat them everyday . . . and sweet potatoes are just plain better, tasting as well. I like the idea of cutting them into fries, though I…
  • Running, even when I was in great shape, wasn't always fun. But I'd have runs that absolutely made the hard or boring ones worth it! Where you just hit a pace that feels good and you feel as though you could keep going forever . . . thats my favorite. =0)
  • I imagine as you learned and worked out throughout the program, you would slim down. I, personally, wouldn't be all that worried if my personal trainer wasn't perfect, body wise, but I would notice if they weren't healthy . . .
  • I get it, all the way til the plug for stacks are mentioned. Granted if you have the money and wanna, great . . . but it is NOT necessary to lose weight and tone the way you want.
  • Lifetime warranty on jeans? Really? I might have to check them out . . . =0)
  • I agree . . . and I don't even have the phone app. Great resource!!
  • Refreshing? hehe . . . only if its warm-ish out. I ran day before yesterday in rain and 40 degree temps. Nothing refreshing about it . . . or fun, but I felt pretty hard core and fantastic . . . well, fantastic AFTER a hot shower. Go for it . . . you'll be the better person for it!
  • I think when we start saying that it's necessary or brain function and muscle function . . . thats extreme. A typical American diet has WAY too much sodium, much more than it takes the body to function properly. I sat on a weight plateau for months before decreasing my sodium, mostly by cutting out processed foods, and the…

  • ps, I'm 5'10 and 194 lbs.
  • Your ideal heart rate for working out, I believe, is based on your age and resting pulse. I could totally be wrong. I run regularly and my heart, at its lowest, is 145 bpm . . . normally it sits around 160 bpm . . . 180 is during very hard running/hill running. But you know, everyone is different. Walking for an hour and…
  • Did we quote the exact same thing and the exact same time? Weird . . . =0)
  • Great article, thanks for sharing!!
  • I hurt the tendon in my knee bad doing weighted squats with the wrong form. I even asked the gym guys to help me to do it right, but I wasn't paying them as a personal trainer, so they just agreed I was doing ok. I wish someone would of stepped in and said something . . . depending on how the person came across, I probably…
  • Diet has more to do with it, from what I've found through the years of losing weight. Exercise is an important element too, but diet is even more so. 5 lbs in one day is not even going to be a fat gain . . . water retention, perhaps, but not actual fat. Doing some research regarding how the body works . . . how weight is…
  • when I had the gym, I thought it was something I couldn't do without, until I couldn't afford their increased prices and cancelled. I run outdoors, strength train and round it out with workout dvd's . . . I honestly haven't missed it much. That was nearly 2 years ago.
  • m&m's, hershey kissses . . . any grab and shove in your mouth chocolate. I've found I just can't have it around me. Sugar, in general, is a weakness for me . . . anything made of it. haha
  • I can't workout early in the morning either . . . well, one or two days a week and thats it. I get up with my kids and workout after they're in school . . . or in the evening. Something about early mornings knocks me out for the rest of the day. Everyone is different though.
  • I agree with the gal that said breaking up your meals would probably help . . . eating small meals more frequently might help. Also, I don't know if this relates to you, but if I exercise hard day after day, I feel worn down. But you said you were on vacation and that didn't help, so maybe thats not the problem. I know you…
  • I'm the same . . . probably won't give it up. My brother in law did at one point, but noticed he was back to drinking it over the holidays. =0) Never heard negatives about coffee in moderation.
  • Didn't even know Jamba Juice offered oatmeal . . . sounds goods though. =0) I love steel cut oats! Thanks for the list . . .
  • Tap water, we have pretty good water here . . . make sure you're recycling those bottles!!
  • I find garlic, which is sodium free (or really low anyway), to be a great seasoning for meats and such . . . onion is another low/no sodium alternative. And there are herbs and such out there that are not sodium filled. Fresh Basil, Oregano, etc . . . I know what you mean about the sodium bit. I love my foods seasoned! =0)
  • I'm not an expert but percentages of each macronutrient; Carbs, fats, proteins, is what you wanna shoot for. My macronutrients are 40% Carbs, 30% Fats and 30% Protein . . . I don't remember what this site is automatically set for, but its higher carbs, lower proteins and fat. Do some research and figure out what works best…
  • Heart rate monitor is your best bet . . . and you can name the exercise whatever you want.
  • The running stores that do gate analysis are nice!! The tone shoes, I've heard, don't really help . . . am I getting that wrong? I'm sure someone will correct if I am. I would rather have a great shoe, that fits and does its job.

  • I enjoy jogging, especially running on trails . . . Tae Bo, if you want a video workout . . . lots of people into P90X, and other Beach Body workouts. And then there's always sports and other things to do. I'm sure you'll get a list here. =0)
  • Does this really surprise people anymore? Thats my only thought. Thank you for posting!!
  • I grew up bigger, active in horses, but definitely overweight. I only lost weight as an adult. I have 40 lbs to go and people regularly tell me this. I'm tall . . . maybe I carry it well, but to me, I know where healthy is . . . I'm not abnormally large boned (medium frame actually) and there's no earthly reason I should…
  • I would be suspicious of a piece of exercise equipment that told me I burned 1,000 calories in 30 minutes. That is an outrageous amount of calories in 30 minutes. Might wanna cross check that with a heart rate monitor . . . just a thought. =0) If a diet was extremely restrictive . . . I wouldn't last on it. Slow and…
