Yep, roasted, sauteed anything is my favorite. One thing that helps me is the addition of a little fat - olive oil, butter, coconut oil, bacon drippings, etc...gives things some complexity, changes up the flavor profile, and, as a bonus, I have been hearing A LOT lately about how you need the fat to get the full nutrition…

I had been thinking about it as a virus that remains dormant, then activates something on death, but I think it must be a little different. It seems to me that, for it to be a pervasive as it is, and as quickly as it happened, it must be something that acts on something specifically human (as we haven't seen animal…

Okay, seriously: there is nothing you can't do with kale. Everything above is great - soups, wilted or fresh in salad, roasted for chips - but my absolute favorite thing to do is use it as a side on it's own or, prepared the same way, as a base for other deliciousness. Get a touch of oil in the bottom of a very hot pan,…

This. Lives would have been saved - repeatedly - had ComicRick been able to compromise with ANYONE. I'll own that TVRick sometimes goes too far the other way, being too wishy-washy, but I still think he's the better leader.

I understand - I'm lucky in that whenever I gained, I gained evenly all over, but of course that also means that I lose all over, too. I'm down (nearly!) 35 pounds, but all my jeans still fit the same, I'm still wearing the stuff I wore two summers ago, and I'm ready to throw it all out and get to buy new skinny clothes!…

I'm not a huge fan of the OG (ours is kind of awful, and nearly everything I've ever had at any location has been too salty), BUT - I do usually get the Pasta e Fagioli and salad with dressing on the side (not totally sure what the base is for the soup, so that might not work for your needs). If I want something more…

There was a recipe for Cranberry Bean Pasta Fagoli in...Food Network magazine? I think...a few years back - it's one of my favorites. I also have a Smoked Split Pea with Greens recipe that I ADORE (link to that one is below), but this week I'm eating an adapted version of the French Women Don't Get Fat Green Soup, which is…

I discipline "my kids" - at church or with friends - but if I don't know the parents, or if it's a public setting like that, I just give the Stink Eye. Stopped some bratty behavior cold at WalMart a few weeks ago! I think its mostly that they're shocked by someone they don't know showing obvious disapproval - shakes them…

Ack! That's me! Has anybody else played the Telltale Games - because they are wonderful.
-
I'd start out by just mixing them into whatever it is you're already eating - example, anything green mixes into pasta! (Or anything at all...) Otherwise, Cook them to pieces, roast them, dip them in stuff. It's more important (in my view) to learn to like new, good for you things, than to worry with the calorie count at…

Another no-makeup person here - if it's something super special, weddings, performances (well, performances under stage lights - if it's just house lights, forget it) then I'll do the whole thing. In all honesty, aside from the middle school Mary Kay program phase (YIKES), I've never worn it on a regular basis. Of course…

I keep a bag of Dove Dark Silk-whatever squares in my desk drawer at work, and honestly, sometimes I can just open the drawer and that cloud of chocolate smell will be enough to stifle the craving! But I can have two squares and be under a 100, so there's that... Also love Raisinets - 190 per bag (can't let myself get the…

Actually had some wonderful ones last night - the marinade was oil and lemon juice, with oregano and mint, and just a touch of honey. Flash broil and eat! So good.

When I was elementary school, my daddy took me out on dates! I was in Scouts, so we did all that father/daughter stuff, plus we'd go out to McDonald's (living overseas, this was a Big Deal) or just go for a bike ride and the like. Still happy, happy memories. Good on you for being a good daddy! I take "field trips" with…

Sorry, dear heart. I commiserate - I haven't been able to get to my magic 40 pounds lost yet...after six months. It's the worst. But good on you for keeping after it! I have GOT to get back to the gym - I let my membership lapse during my last show, with the intention of finding a better/cleaner/brighter gym...now I have…

I have lots of ten pound goals - my ultimate is 100 pounds lost, so I knew no one thing could motivate me for that long! My next up (40!) is finally getting to play Kingdom of Amalur. I need to go ahead and buy it like I did with Mass Effect 3, because seeing it on top of my tv, taunting me, was very seriously motivating.…

Congratulations! This was exactly what I needed to see this morning, so thank you!

This isn't really a recipe, but I like to pick a theme for the week - like this coming week is going to be Indian, so my afternoon and evening meals will be in that flavor profile. It's great because it lets me use that "same ol'" stuff but with the new spices (and LOTS of them!) it makes everything new and shiny. :) Of…

I feel like I should hand you my resume! :) I have a little more to lose than you do (if stone = 14lbs?), but I'm trying to go about it the same way (and still have time to game!). Feel free to add me if you wish...

I always hated it, but I just rejoined one (mainly for shower privileges, as I had intended to bike to work) and am coming to love it. I go super early, and there's hardly anybody there, so I can get in, do my thing with the tv on MY station and then leave. I find myself looking forward to it!

They're all super cute (and look good on you!), but I think #2 is the winner - if it's a church wedding, you might need the sleeves, and the color is perfect on you!

I HAVE to have my treats! Two of the Dove Dark Promises pieces are great for something sweet after lunch (84 calories), I just picked up a bag of the SunMaid Dark Chocolate Covered Raisins (~160 for a 1/4 cup) and they are seriously delicious - I may have to portion control them out into smaller bags, they're that good! I…

So glad I'm not the only one! The official scale for my support group is at in the bathroom at the end of the hall where I work, so it's very tempting! But for the OP, I have my official weigh-in on Sundays, and a set check-in for myself on Wednesdays. I will weigh more if I feel I'm doing particularly well/poorly.
-
So, does the dress fit but you don't like the way it looks? If that's the case, triple Spanx and call it a day - Lemon out.
-
So glad to see this! I, too, am 5'5" and have a goal of 165 for the time being - my main concern is to be in a size ten again one day (hit an eight at one point and looking back, I was just too small - my face looked terrible), so once I start getting to that point, I'll reassess what my weight actually needs to be.
-
Yep - lots of water and don't weigh. :) No, really - I keep tracking to make sure I'm not going nuts with the sweets and the bread (oh, sweet, wonderful bread), but I don't weigh. Causes too much consternation.
-
I don't track mine, but I know I drink far more than the recommended amount (at minimum, on a work day, I'll drink around 6L/235+oz.). Mostly, it's because I feel thirsty, or I'm trying to ward off a computer headache. I find myself more thirsty on active days, because I'm usually too busy to drink like I do when I'm…

We have a support group/competition at church (where I also happen to work), so we have our official weigh-in every Sunday. But I like to check in mid-week as well - usually Wednesday - because I have a tendency to cheat on the weekends. I also like to check the day after I feel like I've done well!
-
I do half coffee/half milk - the milk is sweet enough for me, while the coffee helps wake me up. And it helps me get a little closer to my calcium goal for the day!

I'm a big Star Trek fan, and one of my favorite episodes (for it's camp, I'll admit) is one where Riker is in an alternate reality and Minuet, a character he created in the holodeck, is his wife. When he remembers that it is in fact a creation and not an actual woman, he growls, "Minuet!" and does an angry Riker-lean,…
