I was thinking about how the whole situation started. And I came to the conclusion it was man made. There was not one patient zero but many. It seems logical that if everyone is infected, no matter how you die, you turn. So if this is the case, someone released something either by air or water that infected everyone. Now if this is the case, is it transmittable through human contact? Or does it need to be ingested like a poison? Now, if it was man made, and released, was it released worldwide? If not, then say austrailia could be unaffected. We only see the states. Also, why do animals not come back. The walkers are instinct driven, no thinking. I would like to see animal walkers.

What do you guys think?

I think discussing this is awesome, but if you want to get really in depth... I would check a WD forum. Some of the theories there are insane!

Animal walkers would be awesome! I would love to see a how-it's-made on that.
  • I had been thinking about it as a virus that remains dormant, then activates something on death, but I think it must be a little different. It seems to me that, for it to be a pervasive as it is, and as quickly as it happened, it must be something that acts on something specifically human (as we haven't seen animal walkers), Some sort of genetic corruption? Something that acts as a cancer, that simultaneously produces the stimulants needed to sustain...movement? And to suppress external stimuli.

The interesting question to me is the why of this drive to feed - I don't think they eat to sustain themselves, or as in other zombie stories, to gain anything from the braaaaains. So why bother? If they don't need to spread by biting, if they can self-sustain (hibernation till they hear/smell the living walk by?) then why do they need to expend the energy?
