  • You sound very much like me! My son is 16 months and still breastfeeding, I have about 25lbs to lose and I work from home. Like you, I'm often in the house all day, everyday! I've recently started going for 2-3mile walks most mornings with the pram and my headphones on just so I get some exercise. I find it hard on rainy…
  • Hi everyone :) I'm a first time mum to my 2 week old son - also breastfeeding exclusively (intending to also pump after 6 weeks so I can venture out of the house alone... Most likely to the gym!). Feel free to add me as I could use the support. I have 20lbs of pregnancy weight to lose before I get married in Aug 2016, but…
  • Same here! What a boring place to have lost weight from, I mean it's not like anyone will ever say "oh wow, I can tell you've lost weight, your fingers are so slim!"
  • I've gained 4 or something lbs after a few weeks of maintenance level (the fact I'm not accurate shows how little I'm bothered by it!). I plateaued since Aug 2012 and didn't lose anything whether I had a 500 cal deficit or 250 cal deficit. I'm determined to stick with it for another 6 weeks before I make a tiny cut of 10%.…
  • I've just blogged about the new FitBit's: http://beyondthebathroomscale.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/fitness-news-flash-2-new-versions-of.html I'm not to fussed about the new (but cheaper) FitBit Zip, but the Fit Bit One is a nice upgrade with the bluetooth connectivity to sync to my iPhone app and the silent alarm.
  • My SO couldn't be bothered to count calories himself, however, he's very much enjoying his own weight loss as a direct consequence of all the tasty yet low-calorie meals I've been cooking for us, so he's very supportive.
  • I've noticed this myself! I wasn't sure if it was because I've swapped to a different method of BC though (implant to pill) or if it had something to do with my diet.
  • Thank you  The link (http://www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/blog-awards-2012-vote) should show the log in screen where you just pop in an email address (don't worry, they won't spam) and then choose 'lifestyle blogs' and 'Beyond The Bathroom Scales'
  • I certainly do! I look at my size 10/12 self in the mirror and see the same big old size 18 tummy and thighs staring back at me. Making that mental change is far harder than any of lifestyle changes I've made.
  • I use Go Pro Whey in Chocolate Orange flavour, which is really nice! I've only just started using shakes, I figured they would be useful on the days I go swimming for hours or go to 3 gym classes in a row, as these are the days where I could most use additional calories and extra protein to help me hit my macros.
  • I wrote a blog about my fave fitness/health apps which you can check out here: http://beyondthebathroomscale.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/5-essential-apps-for-weight-loss-and.html Yes, you've guessed it, MFP is my number one app
  • Totally roared my eyes out over this! How lovely and romantic! I wish you two all the best in the future! :flowerforyou:
  • Wow!!! So inspiring! You look amazing and healthy, congrats! :flowerforyou: It's so nice to see 'before' and 'afters' of someone that hasn't achieved it by starving themselves.
  • bump - for when my finals are over and I can allow myself to sign up to another distracting social networking site
  • I've just recently gone from 1240, where my weight loss eventually stalled and increased it to 1460 and the scale has started moving again! So yes, I can confirm it works. It took about 2 weeks for it to kick in and it may be worth avoiding the scale in this time if you're likely to panic when/if you see a temp…
  • Wow! You guys are HOT! What amazing transformations! Jaw-dropping stuff here! Congrats to all! :flowerforyou:
  • I love my FitBit, most of the complaints on here are down to people not reading the instructions on MFP correctly. It's helped me have a much more accurate calculation of my daily activity and I since discovered that I was underrating every day by about 200 calories (which had caused the scale to stall). It's replaced my…
  • I have around 200g of carbs a day (set to 50%) and I've lost weight perfectly fine. Low-carb might work for some people but it certainly doesn't work for everyone. I'd feel too moody and tired to carry on with a low-carb diet and I'd just gain the weight back the second I began eating my preferred amount of carbs again.
  • Thanks for sharing, I have just started to up my calories, I'm still cutting by 15% but it's higher calories than I was on (1220, now 1418) Rest days are now more feasible! My weight loss has slowed at 9lbs away from goal and like you said, I've tried everything else so why not this? I'm ditching the scale for a month…
  • My mum and grandma have this, and both have anaemia coupled with it. I'm trying to prevent it (I'm not even sure if that's possible) by eating plenty of iron, as I certainly don't fancy the iron tablets my grandma had to take.
  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one
  • Totally needed this post! I've been upping my calories for about 4/5 days of the week to slightly short of my would-be maintenance level (in other words, I've gone over by 250-300 some days). I've started to see gains on the scale, even after a day of hitting my calorie goal, so what you said makes sense, my body probably…
  • I've only ever heard of nesting in the context of preparing for a baby to arrive. My pregnant friends are going through a stage of cleaning the whole house top to bottom, twice, in the same day and also folding and re-folding baby clothes.

  • Yes, exactly. If I sat in the pub telling my friends why I don't think they should drink then I would expect the aggressive backlash telling me to drink. Instead, I just sit there as normal with my water and never bring it up. I'd say 95% of of my social circle will just accept it but there's always a few that feel the…
  • I also don't drink any more, most of my friends have accepted this and don't say anything about it, but others can get really aggressive with it. if anyone tries to talk me into whilst I'm in the pub I just say to them "If you think me not drinking is annoying, you should see yourself when your a drunken, unintelligible,…
  • I have a pot of basil on my kitchen shelf near the window. I found it easier to buy it already grown and potted from the supermarket and keep that alive rather than grow it up from seeds. I have a bad history with live plants, they tend not to grow or I just accidentally kill them off. Buying it in a pot lasts a…
  • I'm off to see this today!! I'm so excited!
  • Great idea, I'm now following all of the blogs listed above. mine is: http://beyondthebathroomscale.blogspot.co.uk/ - I've just recently launched so I'm in the process of expanding my blogger network :)
  • Love this!!
  • I didn't tell anyone for the first 7lbs, and then only my boyfriend and parents knew until the first 20lbs was gone. I've never lost weight before so I wanted to test myself and see if I could actually do it without anyone knowing that I'd tried and failed. Thankfully, I never did fail, but it's not a secret any more, it's…
