  • Underdog by Kasabian - seems to be the one I have kept on my playlist longest Times like these - Foo Fighters Revolution - The Beatles
  • Love yourself just for who you are - you don't need any particular shape for that. Don't get depressed just remind yourself of all the good things about you. Don't give up on the exercise it is an important way forward and will help prevent you feeling down - if done regularly etc Believe in yourself you can get there for…
  • Run at the speed that feels right to you. To push the envelope a little train using intervals. I think an 8 minute mile is pretty amazing - only would bother trying to run faster if you are into serious running. If I was you I would aim to run 10 minute miles - a little up on what you are doing. As far as calories and…
  • It is amazing how many people are up for a challenge. Well I like a challenge too so count me in
  • Great! Good luck. You have done amazingly well so far to loose 46KG
  • Welcome Keely and good luck. You will find MFP a great help and people here very supportive. Great start keep up the good work.
  • It is real, fresh coffee or nothing! Decaf has a nasty effect on me - sends me to sleep. I have quit a few times because I thought it was becoming compulsive. Now it is usually one per day in the morning.
  • Late night eating. This is not to do with calories just a bad habit Day dreaming
  • This site helped me lose weight and I am 60. It is down to calorie deficit - if you get your calories in deficit you will lose weight whatever your age and personally I don't think it gets harder many people are just less active when they get older
  • I also think pretty nearly anything is fine. Apples, Pears etc all good. Carrots great. I love raw cabbage heart and I don't know if anyone else does
  • Love reading and I have very broad tastes but could not abide Henry James and Portrait of a Lady. Thomas Hardy so depressing - read Return of the Native just about. Agree with the above love Jane Austin
  • Comfort/emotional eating. I still have problems with that occasionally, I think it is to do with revealing stress but it doesn't work, makes you more anxious so you end up eating even more. Cutting out night snacks and eating a larger breakfast helped me break that. BTW Keep at it and good luck
  • Times like these - Foo Fighters - great running song
  • Seems your metabolism changes as you get older. I remember being able to eat vast amounts and never put on an ounce. But I don't think weight loss is any more difficult as you get older. Get a calorie deficit going and you will lose weight - can take a little while and have some ups and downs but I guarantee if you stick…
  • Well drinking lots is great advice for anyone dieting. I love coffee too, but too much coffee clearly is not good same as too much of anything. I used to drink 5 or 6 mugs a day but working on the principle that it is good to kick anything that is becoming too much of an addiction I gave it up and had a long dry period.…
  • I don't think you should worry too much. You do need to eat sufficient calories to maintain an exercise routine but if one day you eat them back and another you don't it won't matter. What will matter is if overall you are achieving a calorie deficit because that is what governs whether you lose weight or not.
  • Currently I am using a Wahoo monitor which works with the iPhone - it is very good an I am pleased with it. Previously I used a Garmain Forerunner - very good product but more expensive. The Garmain is still the best as it has excellent GPS too. Depends on what you want it for. They work through two electrodes on a chest…
  • I think celebrating personal accomplishment is important. What you are telling people is that you set yourself a goal and achieved it. I can't see a problem with this.
  • Mix some with eggs and fry in just a teaspoon full of oil - delicious
  • If you exercise your calorie deficit will be greater. You will find that you need to eat some of them back but overall the exercise will help you lose weight faster. It is easier to achieve a calorie deficit when you are exercising. 1200 calories sounds quite low, so I think you will find you do need to eat quite a bit of…
  • Welcome to MFP, it provides a great way to lose weight that has worked for me and a very friendly and helpful community. Good luck I am sure you will do great!
  • whoops posted twice
  • Not a good day - have not logged onto MFP for a week and it was a case of just need a break not think about my diet and I have indeed logged on 120 days in a row. Lost my target weight. But I have been feeling so anxious and I cant explain because I am not a person that suffers that sort of anxiety also I have nothing to…
  • Stir fry veg is good for you and low in calories. Definitely the best way to prepare vegetables. I eat Chinese all the time, if you are in a restaurant make certain to ensure that they do not use MSG (yuk donno why anyone things that makes food taste better)
  • Go for it. It is great being a vegetarian you feel better about yourself, and lowers cholesterol etc. Give people time to get used to it and don't be put off by what others may say. I have found is that the one thing is that you need to watch your carbs just make sure that they don't go over. I have been doing MFP for…
  • I have been good on stress eating these last 3 months while I have been doing MFP. But yesterday was a real struggle. A number of things had upset me and I was not feeling myself. So I started to hunt around for food, somehow I resisted and got through but it was not easy. Good luck everyone - thanks Brenda
  • It is a nice idea :) good luck. I did 5 on the 9th and two at a fast walk yesterday (does that count) 236.5 +7=243.5 How are you going to keep this going? You will need to friend loads of people.
  • Stretches and muscle development - tightening and loosening muscles. You can also do chi kung at your desk - amazingly good for you. I do Tai Chi in the office (must not be too self conscious). There must be loads of other stuff
  • I think you are doing really well Brenda. You obviously have a lot of strength and determination. I am all good at the moment with the stress eating. Thanks for doing this!
  • All good today. But breakfast cereal is the stuff I normally eat when I am anxious, upset or worrying. I am certain that stuff is addictive! Also find that exercise keeps me right.
