  • Are you getting enough protein? Juicing has a lot of benefits, but protein is the key to boosting your metabolism. I changed mfp's standard percentages for what they recommend for macronutrients. I eat 40% of my calories in carbs (fruits/veggies/whole grains) and 30% in protein and 30% in fats (healthy fats if I can). Up…
  • If you are doing a weight lifting routine, it's best to rest 48 hours in between workouts, so doing it every other day is best. In a great book I read, (New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women), they recommend no more than 3 weight workouts a week to give your body proper recovery. However, if you are still sore 2 days from…
  • The only time I eat fruit by itself is on my way out the door to the gym in the morning. I know a lot of people say eat protein before the gym, but if I eat more than just a piece of fruit, it's too much that early in the am. It gives me carbs enough to get some energy for my workout and as soon as I'm done I come back and…
  • tuna, diced pickle, diced boiled egg, one tbs light mayo, salt & peper!
  • Thanks all. I definitely don't want to "diet" while pregnant. I'm pretty healthy...all my numbers are good and I'm fit, so I'm just going to up my calories so I'm not eating for a 2lb a week weight loss anymore. If I change it to 1/2 a lb a week, it gives me 1710 calories to work with. I think that seems pretty reasonable,…
  • Flat Out Wraps(we buy them at costco)!! They are 100 calories, but have like 9g of protein or something. Today at lunch I went home and made one with shredded chicken, 1/2 cup of blackbeans, one tbs sour cream, cilantro, tomato and lime joice. 350 calories, 35 grams of protein!!
  • Protein powder...my favorite is biochem vanilla whey. I use it in smoothies, oatmeal and even a glass of milk. If you try to go totally low fat, it's going to be hard to eat enough protein. There are good fats. I recommend the book "New Rules of Weight Lifting"...it gave me good perspective and the balance.
  • Every morning, first thing. I do it because if I don't, then it gets away from me. I don't freak out at weight gain though as it happens with hormone changes and water retention. I log my weight on here once a weekish.
  • I have had several friends do the diet and lose 10-15lbs in just 3 weeks, and immediately gain the weight back because they couldn't sustain the strict calorie intake even at the "maintenance" phase of HCG. I've also researched side effects of HCG because I considered trying the hormone myself. There is evidence that it…
  • I also know a lot of people who've lost a lot of weight on it. Anytime you drop weight that fast, you so easily gain it back. Do you feel energetic? Food should be fuel. If you lack energy and it's not a type of diet you can maintain for a long period of time, its almost always going to be an eventual fail. Balance is the…
  • If you don't log your fruits and veggies, you will probably go over your MFP calorie goal. I am doing the same thing, and I have calculated a couple of my MFP food logs into my WW acount, and even though fruits and veggies were no points there, I was still just about hitting my 31 points on a 1200 calorie diet.
  • 1 scoop of biochem whey protein powder (vanilla) 6 frozen strawberries half banana half a nonfat flavored yogurt half of a crystal light to-go pack to add some flavor Filling, 10g of protein and under 182 calories :)
  • That does suck, but the scale doesn't always tell the truth. How are your clothes fitting? How do you feel? Are you more energetic? If you want to try something to boost your metabolism, try changing your cardio workouts to intervals. Instead of keeping a steady pace, switch between running and walking, or if you're doing…
  • So...I totally get feeling intimidated about weight lifting. It might be worth seeing a personal trainer for a few sessions. I had to be taught how to properly lift weights, the right amount, which machines and the schedule of when to lift etc. It really helped. And you definitely can see results fast. It's sooo worth it.…
  • Weight Lifting!? First of all, it does incredible things for your metabolism. Second, my dad, who was diagnosed with bad spondalitis at age 19 and lost a lot of mobility by age 30, started weight lifting in his 30's. He is not able to do any high impact cardio, but weight lifting has changed his entire body and basically…
