  • Another nerd here!! I'm 35, into so many things ... superheroes, harry potter, Doctor Who, Sherlock ... I could go on and on. I need to lose at least 120 if not more. Down 10 so far! I have to check out this Geek Squid thing!
  • Hi Linda, I read your post. Walking is actually a better weight loss program than running. Running does tone things up but, if you walk at an incline, you are carrying your own weight. My old personal trainer at the gym told me to do intervals with inclines on the treadmill because you really work your legs (your biggest…
  • I track my food and keep a close eye on my carbs. I don't pay too much attention to my calories because even if I go over, I'm not going WAAAAAY over. As long as my carbs are below 100 I am happy. There've been days when I watched calories and then ... poof, my carbs were way out of whack. That's just what I do. Obviously,…
  • I also need to lose 100 lbs and started eating Paleo a couple weeks ago. I'm down 9-10 lbs (depending on the day) as well, and looooove the foods too. I'm still trying to learn how to do this absolutely properly for weight loss and just started reading "The Primal Blueprint" by Mark Sisson. It really gets down to the nitty…
  • I have read a lot of articles on Paleo and they all stay to not pay attention to the calories of the day. There will be days you eat more calories and days you eat a lot less. I find on days I work out, I eat more because my body needs fuel. With paleo, you will come to find yourself eating only as a body-fuel, and not…
  • As you know, I am also a nightshift 911 dispatcher. It is SO hard to incorporate exercise with this kind of shift. Sometimes, we do squats at work. My trainer's wife is also a 911 dispatcher and she has challenged me to do 300 squats a night (on nights we don't train with her hubby). I also found a quick workout online on…
  • I do a personal training circuit with a personal trainer and it was giving me 1000 calories for an hour with him, which my trainer immediately said was extremely high. So, I got a Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor that I wear during every work out, and every bit of exercise I do so that I have an actual representation of what I…
  • You can drink too much water. Recommended is usually half your body weight in ounces. So ... if you weigh 200 lbs, you'd need to drink between 64 and 100 ounces of water. A gallon is the minimum recommended amount.
  • I always log the gain so that I can see my progress whether it is up or down. My chart looks like a heart rate! Up then down and then up and then down.
  • Count me in!!!!! Daily Goals: Drink ALL my water ... 136ounces every day!!! Stay under my calories Get some sort of exercise every day, but good exercise 5x a week!!! Habit: Spending time to unwind after my shifts (I work nights) washing my face, brushing my teeth, etc. Let's do this!!!
  • I need to lose 129.3 lbs to get to my ultimate weight loss goal. I would love to be friends with you to help support and cheer you on. This website has already been a great help to me in the weight I have lost. It's a wonderful tool to see what I need to eat, and what I need to burn.
  • I either go by what the machine says if I'm using the heart rate monitoring on it. Like, on the treadmill, I always do a cardio program and hold the little heart things (I know I'm not pumping my arms but it keeps track of my heart rate and adjusts the incline to keep me in zone). Or, if I'm not on the treadmill, I always…
  • I work with my personal trainer for 50 minutes on Tue/Thur/Fri and then on Mon and Wednesday I do cardio for 20-60 mins depending on the time I have to do it. Sometimes I'll toss light cardio into my saturday or sunday but ... not often. I've only lost 14.7 but it's been 5 week so it's definitely working. I also stop…
  • MFP says to put in what the treadmill says you burned, assuming you enter your info into the treadmill when you start. I use the cardio funciton and it tracks how long I am at my target heart rate, etc. So I usually change it to what the treadmill says, my heart rate monitor is usually pretty close.
  • You know me! I've been working every single day from 10-16 hours. I don't want "dispatcher butt" either. I hit the treadmill downstairs in the locker room gym on my break on the days I don' thav epersonal training. I am sure hoping to see some sort of results. It's sooooooooo hard to sit here and eat good when people bring…
  • I'd love to join your Facebook group!!!
  • I can only pick one? Ohhhh man. My favorite Princess is Snow White but that's not my favorite movie. Dang it. Gonna have to go with ...... Shoot. I love A Bug's Life. Monsters Inc.
  • Watching the work screens. No TV at work. I could use some entertainment.
  • I didn't realize I had so many comments on my post!! I usually do all my tracking from my iphone but at work it's so much easier to log into the computer. I put everything I pack for lunch in my diary and then at work, I edit it and take off what I didn't eat. It's bad I know because I need to be eating my calories but…
