You know me! I've been working every single day from 10-16 hours. I don't want "dispatcher butt" either. I hit the treadmill downstairs in the locker room gym on my break on the days I don' thav epersonal training. I am sure hoping to see some sort of results. It's sooooooooo hard to sit here and eat good when people bring in all kinds of goodies all the time. Seriously, why do all dispatchers have to bake?! I mean, really?!0

Dispatchers unite! LOL I am currently working 10 hr shifts and starting 12's next week....I find myself eating to stay awake...i work in a solo dispatch center and there is no one to talk to to distract me. So its hard not to focus on the food thing. There are always goodies around too and they are my weakness. Working hard at only eating what I bring with me!0

I work in the same center as Kirsten. I enjoy baking because it relaxes me... I don't want to EAT IT so I bring it to work for EVERYONE ELSE to eat..Sorry Kirsten.. I'll try and it keep it low fat lol
I am lucky and only work part time.. that gives me plenty of time during the day to exercise and do my best to stay out of the fridge. I am working hard so that I don't get that "secretary spread".
When I want to give in to temptation I try to think of it this way, " I burn about 100 calories running a mile, This junk that I am about to stick in my mouth is 300 calories... do I really want to run three miles so I can eat this? no, no I don't".0 -
Not a dispatcher... in school to be an EMT/Paramedic...
Thought it would be fun to do that job though while I am in school or even as a 2nd job... but with that schedule probably wouldn't be possible!0 -
I think that it is DESTINY that I found this topic!! I am also a 911 dispatcher, and LOVE my job, but I too do NOT want the "office *kitten*" so to speak. We are on 8 hr shifts, so it's not like the 12-14 hr shifts. Sometimes there are 2 of us working, sometimes only 1. I also find myself eating to pass the time during slow periods. Maybe we should start a group, like a "biggest loser" thing....don't know if anyone would be interested.....
So glad to have found this!!0 -

I work in Cotati, CA, it's northern CA not too far from San Francisco. I work 12 hr shifts at night, and only drinking would never work for me. I try to pack lots of healthy snacks, but, I find myself eating when I am not hungry to keep myself awake or because I am bored. Healthy or not, to many snacks and I am over my calories for the day. I am a sugar addict...and I often eat that when I am tired. All bad stuff...so I am really focused on figuring out how to divert myself away from eating or sugar in general when I am at work. When I am at home I seem to be able to control things better because we don't keep stuff around (for the most part) that is not good for us. But, I do have kids, so we have some snack stuff that is avail...I try to avoid eating it. My husband is a personal trainer so I am lucky in that respect..my workouts are dialed in. In fact he works out quite a few dispatchers from the area!0

I'm out of Gardner, MA. And I too, would NEVER last on just drinking during my shift!! lol I try to pack healthy snacks, or pick something up before I get to work, and I ALWAYS have a water bottle on the des\k full. I sometimes get forced and then I feel panic coming on becuase I have already eaten my calories for the day, and then have to be up another 12 hours. That is what gets me. I try to keep the intake low after that, but sometimes you need something with substance to it. I try to keep it to soup if I have it available, or a small sandwich.0

I am a 911 dispatcher as well, 12 hr shifts, we work 3 days one week and 4 days the next...cant complain so far!!! I, unlike the rest of you... , work with about 12 other people on my shift, but I am a dedicated fire dispatcher, so there is sometimes 2-3 in our pod. So company is not so much an issue, but we love to eat!!!
I was able to lose weight a few years ago doing this job, so i want to be able to do it again...just cant find the motivation!! Please add me if you like0
