  • i'm 5'11" and i'm looking to be about 175 (right inside the "healthy" BMI range) - i started with MFP a week and a half ago and have already lost 4 pounds doing this. 1200 a day is NOT healthy and at the very least you should be eating 1500, and if you're working out, you should be eating more. hope this helps!
  • choose sedentary because of your job.... your exercise is logged separately in the "exercise" log. :) hope this helps!
  • hahah, sorry, i didn't understand your question!
  • MFP already takes into acccount the calories you use up just to exist (Go to tools, BMR - that's how much you burn just by living, breathing, and sitting around)- sitting and driving doesn't really require much of you. Did you add it to your Exercise log as exercise? That's not right. It sounds to me like normal day to day…
  • hey everyone! i know it's not friday yet, but i wanted to share a small success! i got on the scale this morning and was down 4 pounds sinceabout 9 days ago - i am so thrilled! :) how's everyone else doing? also - is losing 4 pounds in 9 days okay? i don't want to lose too fast, but i am eating like 1800 calories a day…

  • Here's the recipe that CristaAmy was talking about: YUM YUM BROWNIE MUFFINS It may seem odd to use nothing but pumpkin and cake mix for this recipe, but it works well. 1 box (about 18 ounces) devil's food cake mix 1 (15-ounce) can pure pumpkin puree Mix together cake mix and pumpkin. DO NOT add anything else mentioned on…
  • i had no idea they sent those reminder e-mails! that IS awesome. glad you're back :) i've been doing this for a few days now too and i've already lost 2 pounds just by being aware of how much i'm really taking in... it's helped a lot with portion control! you'll do great
  • i'd love to join! my goal was already to be down by christmas time anyway! starting weight: 275 starting MFP weight: 256 current weight: 254 12/31/2008 goal: 215 ultimate MFP goal: 175
  • you can TOTALLY do it! it's only my 3rd or 4th day and it's actually helped me a TON! be sure to really (TRUTHFULLY) keep track of everything you eat... it will really make you aware of how much you're really taking in. that's helped me a TON. :) we're all here for you if you need us!!!! you can do this! …
  • Hey you guys, So I have only been on here for like 4 days, and the first day I tracked what I ate and was SHOCKED. I consumed almost 3,000 calories (and that's how i've been eating for YEARS). no wonder i'm up to 255! yikes. but anyway, now that i've joined, i've been slowly eating less because i'm becoming more conscious…
  • hi karalyn! we are so excited to have you here! i just joined recently too but it has already been so helpful. it's really important to keep track of what you eat - it has really opened my eyes to how much i am ACTUALLY eating! i had no idea before. i just know you will succeed - for me it has been important to remember…
  • wow! congrats on all your progress! we're excited to have you here :) i just joined a few days ago and everyone has already been so responsive and supportive. you'll love it here! keep up the good work!!
  • Welcome, Joe! Glad to have you and good luck :) The site definitely does help you keep track of what you eat. I was STUNNED when I kept track of what I ate in a day - it really helps you realize what you're eating and think before you eat.
  • i make mine with lettuce, cucumber, black beans, avocado, and salsa - the salsa is usually enough of a "dressing" type thing but you can always add something else to it - i think kraft has a chile-lime vinagrette out.
  • congratulations! you look really fantastic!!!!!
  • Yum! Thanks for posting this :) i'm always looking for ways to trick my taste buds!
  • depending on what kind of stores you have around you, you could shop at old navy. one of my favorite stores is torrid, it's a really trendy plus-size shop but you would definitely have to get the SMALLEST size (and even that might be too big)! target also has really cute clothes, and they're pretty inexpensive. good luck!…
  • you can do it! i'm new here too... just joined yeseterday! but it's amazing how supportive everyone is and how helpful this site is! welcome :)
  • i would love to free lift but i don't really know how... do you have any suggestions?
  • and you're all right! thanks so much for all the great suggestions. maybe i should start changing the time i go to the gym so i can squeeze in a class or two. and i'll also be sure to load up my ipod asap!! thanks everyone :)
