Awesome job!!! :)

Pay to work out?? I've never really grasped that concept. My whole life is my workout.
-
It takes practice and commitment and even then sometimes you'll slip up. Life long journey. Don't quit.

MFP isn't just about weight loss. I don't need to lose any weight. I'm only here to track my nutrients and exercise. :)
-
Lift weights. A lot. :)
-
Well, I'm 56 and in the best shape of my life. :) Is that "40+" enough for you? ;) Check out my fitness page at www.facebook.com/fitnessdiva11 and feel free to add me on here as well. I am just back to MFP after about a year hiatus.

What Christmas weight gain??  :

You'll do fine. Follow the advice about starting slow and working your way up. Or maybe even starting slow and just finishing lol. I've done 3 now, came in 2d in my age group on the last one I ran. You will find it different on the route rather than a treadmill, but running is running. It'll be good for you to switch it up.

Body weight exercises like squats and pushups are great. Squats for lower body (legs and butt), pushups for upper body (shoulders, triceps, biceps). Invest in some dumb bells and take it further. Lots of great dumb bell exercises out there. If you're on facebook, check out my fitness page @…

Haha! I know exactly what you mean. I am a total running addict since completing c25k back in early June. I've already run 3 5k races (one of which I came in second in my age group), and can't stand to have to miss a scheduled run. :-)
-
Isn't it a wonderful feeling?? C25k literally changed my lifestyle...into that of a runner. I will never look back. :drinker: :flowerforyou: :glasses:

Just say no. :flowerforyou:

A sexy body. Wait, I have that. Oh yeah. Long life and good health. Yep. Those are the things I want and they don't come in candy form. :flowerforyou:

God, I LOVE to run!! It's the most challenging, humbling, rewarding, revitalizing, butt-kicking thing EVER!!! I run 6 days a week, early morning as possible to stoke me for the day. While many women my age are getting wider in the rear end and resigning themselves to growing "old", I am as slender as a girl and have…

Keep at it. I am 55 years old, have been eating clean and working out for most of my life, and I am RARELY (and I'm talking about maybe once every 2 or 3 years) even sick with as much as the sniffles. It works.

There comes a time in life when we all have to stop crutching on the poor choices and parenting we might have received as a child and facing up to the fact that it is OUR life and we alone can change it for the better. Anger and finger-pointing will only hold you back even more. Shake it off, and get on with living. You…

Thanks so much! Glad to see strength training included in that list. Going to read the article now...

She "thinks" you are best friends? Doesn't sound much like it to me. Maybe she'll get lucky and find someone to REALLY be best friends with, someone who is more her speed. I hope so, for her sake. I would give anything I own just to be able to walk with my mama again. She's been gone 7 years now.

I think I am a self-motivated, self-perpetuating and goal-oriented person. I don't really need anything except my desire for good health and fitness to keep me going. Of course, I love to exercise...running, weight training, all of it. I'm happy with my current weight but would like to keep amping up my fitness level. For…

No thanks. Not fond of grumpy people.

Ditch all the stupid diets and diet books and learn about nutrition and exercise. Eat clean. Eliminate the junk food and processed food. MOVE YOUR BODY. These are the ONLY THINGS that work on a more than a temporary basis. You can do it but it's going to take some time, research and self-discipline. :flowerforyou:
-
Yes!! This!!

A quote I love: "If you're tired of starting over, quit giving up". It really comes down to that. It isn't easy for anyone to form new and healthier habits, but you can only get there by persevering. You can do it. :flowerforyou:

Started back at 54 after a 30 year hiatus. :) That was in March of this year. Turned 55 in April, have run 2 5ks so far and one tomorrow, and training for 10k.

1. Long 2. Lean 3. Healthy :drinker:

Yep, what she said. Additionally, whining does not burn calories. Get out there!
-
You are the only one who can make that call.:ohwell:

Your head has already proven to you that you CAN run at least 8 minutes straight. This is just your body, trying to sabotage that effort because it hurts. Let it hurt a little. Like many others said, I'd go back and do week 4 again and then so on. Also drop your pace down a bit and run outside every chance you get.

Oatmeal. That is all. The rest of that sugar-coated or sugar-added or GMO corn b.s. I wouldn't feed my dogs.
