  • Thank you very much for posting this article. The protein requirements at WIKPEDIA are even less than the article above. I think that protein is very over consumed in this country due to vast advertising from the beef, poultry and dairy industries. I also think that people don't realize how much the protein is present in…
  • Yah, I think the topic got a bit off track. This week the contestants were encouraged to eat MORE calories so that they could have enough energy to do more. I didn't understand this at all a few weeks ago but I have been doing lots of reading on the subject it's getting clearer. In the first few seasons there was more…
  • Right .. Truvia .. I did see an advertisement for the new "stevia" sweetener. Here's a blurb about Coca-Cola adding Stevia to their beverage .. http://health.usnews.com/articles/health/living-well-usn/2008/07/28/the-zero-calorie-sweetener-stevia-arrives.html
  • Personally, I think the FDA is blocking the acceptance of Stevia as a sweetener due to company pressures. The makers Aspartame, Sweet'n'Low, Equal & Splenda will lose a TON of money when a calorie free natural sweetener hits the market place. Can you imagine the billions of dollars that those companies will lose if the…

  • Which commercials do you find are offensive to your weight loss challenge? Each day it seems a I see commercials from the food or diet industry that keeps us in constant confusion about which choices to make. Where are the apples and fresh spinach ads? I've got several PetPeeve commercials but I'll start with the microwave…

  • Thanks everybody for all your replies. It's good to know that I am not the only one out there struggling with the issue. My large weight gain is my fault ... it's not all the Hypothyroidism for sure. I let it creep up, and when I was really busy building the new business I ate out a lot, socialized a lot and ordered Pizza…
  • Yes, I go every 6 months for the test and then get my prescription refilled. I've been at 100mg for at east 6 years now, it was a lower dose before that. Does your dose vary when you get your tests done?
  • Does any one with Hypothyroidism have any tricks on fooling the condition? My thyroid was irradiated in 1997 after failed attempts to treat Hyperthyroidism (I was down to a size 8 but that was the only plus ... my heart raced so much that I could barely work.) Since then I've gained 75 pounds ... (in that time, I also quit…

  • ... and people in this country wonder why they need so much acid reflex medicine? Sure this site shows the extreme of fried, fully-loaded food but versions of these meals are/were the norm for a lot of people. It's sincerely sad how we have desecrated cuisine into obscene. Thanks for the eye opener.
  • Lately, I only allow myself to watch TV if I am on the Elliptical ... I can burn a lot of calories when watching an hour long show !! I plan my cardio exercise around the shows I want to watch. ... and I feel so great afterwards .. PLUS it's impossible to do the couch-potato-snack-thing when I'm exercising. I…

  • I've replaced all my pop diet or regular with Club Soda in the large bottles ... I have 1 or 2 at "cocktail hour" with fresh squeezed lime juice and a drop of stevia. My other fluids are water, water, jasmine green tea, water and once in a while red wine. Not only can we cut back on calories, artificial sweeteners, food…
  • I found that too, but I just changed the numbers to match my elliptical monitor for the amount of time I was on it. Then today, I *exceeded* the calories for the time I was on the trainer, so must mean I am getting more fit ?!?.. once again I changed the numbers to match my monitor.
