  • I would agree that if you purchased a higher quality HRM from Walmart, then I'm sure it would work well. I just went the cheapo route, and it did not work for me. I personally felt that if I was going to spend $50+ anyway, I may as well spring the extra for the brand I ultimately wanted anyway. :)
  • Before I bought my Polar, I went with a cheap HRM from Walmart; it didn't work, so I returned it for another, which worked sporadically. I eventually just decided to return it and buy quality: the Polar, which is fabulous and well worth the investment. It was a big lesson for me in "You get what you pay for."
  • I just recently discovered dark chocolate almonds (not chocolate covered, more like chocolate "dusted"). I usually eat no more than 2 or 3, and I'm good! You can find them at any grocery store.
  • Same here; I have a wedding in 48 days, so that's how long I have to do something about it!
  • Boilermakeblaw and I both have the Polar FT4 - it's only $63 on Amazon and comes with a chest strap. SO easy to use, and in the 2 months that I've had it, I haven't had a single problem. It's also waterproof, so you can use it while swimming (although haven't tried that yet). I won't work out without my HRM. With HRMs, you…
  • I have definitely had some friends who are negative or even try to sabotage my healthy choices. I have found that either the friend is jealous and wishes she were losing weight/making healthy choices herself or the friend is already thin/healthy to begin with but has counted on me to the "bigger friend" and now she might…
  • If you have a spiral slicer (http://www.amazon.com/MIU-90003-France-Spiral-Slicer/dp/B0009VEOA2/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1312845634&sr=8-6), zucchini "spaghetti" is AMAZING. Here's a "recipe": http://steamykitchen.com/54-zucchini-spaghetti.html I like to toss it with some chicken, spaghetti sauce, green and yellow zucchini,…
  • And this is why I only weigh myself once a week!
  • I am interested in at least reading this book - I will request it from the library. I"m also interested if anyone has tried this. :)
  • If Tony wasn't goofy, I would have a harder time getting through the vids!
  • I record weight once a week and inches every other week. I don't look at the scale between weigh ins - I don't like to see the scale yo-yo every day.
  • Yah, I burned 433 calories during the Arms and Shoulders video today by running in place / doing jumping jacks during downtime.
  • I ALWAYS do knee-pushups on my yoga mat, especially since I have hardwood floor. My knees would be dead if I didn't.
  • Well, mainly I won't have to worry about Plyo!
  • Another question I have, specifically to those who have been doing P90x longer or P90x grads: When did you start to first see a change in your body? I'm only on Day 10, so I don't expect to notice any differences for AT LEAST another 10 days, or even until Phase 2, but I'm just curious about other people's experieces.
  • I'm a teacher, so it's been really nice to be able to leisurely do P90x, but I'm worried about my routine when school starts back up. I'm usually so tired after school that the last thing I want to do is workout, but I'm going to have to push though and make it happen. Hopefully since I'm being healthier, I'll have more…
  • Favorite: Stretch Day. Just kidding! (kinda) For some reason, I really like Shoulders and Arms. I have no idea why. Least: Plyo! 'Nuff said.
  • I am in - hello!
  • I used to always have to order a Coke at a restaurant, but once my boyfriend started always ordering water, and I saw how much money I saved, I stopped. I drink a lot of Starbucks green iced tea, unsweetened. It has a minty taste, which I love. And when I get black iced tea, for some reason I can drink it sugar-less. I…
  • I second Water for Elephants - so good!
  • I have only tried the 30 Day Shred. I loved that it was only 20ish minutes a day, but I didn't like doing the EXACT same thing everyday. I quickly got bored and did not finish. I'm currently doing P90x, which I LOVE because it's something different EVERY day.
  • The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing is one of my all-time favs. Melissa Banks (the author) has a new book out, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Also, to whomever loves the Hunger Games, Stephen King wrote a novel that is similar to this MANY years ago called The Long Walk. Basically, every year 100 boys walk to…
  • I've read so many good books this summer so far. - I've read the first book in The Hunger Games series, and it was great! I'm eagerly awaiting my hold on the second book at the library. - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was really good. It takes about 100 pages to get into, but it's worth. I'm currently reading the next…
