No it's not. I started running at age 55, ran my first half marathon at 57, ran my first marathon at 60. At 59 I weighed 124 (5'2") and PR'ed 3 races in 3 consecutive weekends (5K, 10K and HM). My highest weight in my life was 158 at age 55. Was it harder to be active in my 50's? Nope - you just have to do it.…

I ran a marathon - my first - at age 60.

I'm 5'2" and am happiest at 125.

Frankly I think maintenance is the hardest part - when I relax a bit I gain my weight back and have to start all over again
-
Good grief - it must be nice to know everything

I obviously did not communicate well, since there is so much you asked about - I ate MORE calories overall during a WEEK once I started IF. I was previously on 1200 calories/day (8400/week). I went on IF 5/2 - fasted 2 days (ate 500 calories dinner), on the non fast days I ate up to 2000 calories (11,000 calories/week).…

IF works for T2D and insulin resistant people. It also works for weight loss. I was stuck at a plateau for a month, weighing and logging everything and exercising regularly. MD I know talked me into trying IF - broke my plateau and reached my goal without problem while eating more calories over a weeks time. I do 5/2 (fast…

WOW!

It's a good rate of loss I think.

Amazing job! The difference in the look on your face in the before and after says it all.

Maybe you're bored with the workout you're doing and just need to switch up what you are doing to something different

The only way for me to manage my intake of those sweet things I love (Double Stuff Oreos, Mayfield Southern Buttered Pecan Ice cream just to name a few) is complete abstinence. If I let the monster out of the cage, I'm on a tear that ends with at LEAST 5 lbs. That's me. You know what you can/can't do. If you think you can…

YAY!!!! My daughter and son in law served in the Marine Corp = none better. Semper Fi!

Absolutely beautiful!!!!

What an incredible accomplishment you've made so far. Plateaus are normal and expected. Just focus on healthy eating. Print off a picture of you at your highest weight, post it on your mirror. Then when you look in the mirror and feel you haven't made any progress you will have a comparison picture right at hand. You've…

Low carb high fat moderate protein is how we eat. Note that the fat is 'good fat' from nuts, avocado, etc.

I'm so happy for you! What an amazing story

Wow - fabulous life change!

YAY!!!! This is awesome! I am so excited for you and your wife as you discover all the benefits of healthier eating and weight loss. Enjoy every minute of your life!

OK - what am I missing???? I got a spiralizer and gave it a try. Mind you I love veggies, zucchini being one of them. I was WAY under impressed. I've never been able o make spaghetti squash work for me either. If I want spaghetti, I want the real deal. It just doesn't fool me into believing that it's really spaghetti. I've…

Lost my weight and maintained for a while and felt great. Ran 5 half marathons and a marathon (at 60). Then in the space of 6 months this past year I lost 5 family members to death, 3 of them immediate family. In the processor my grieving I've stopped running or going to the gym and I've eaten anything I wanted. I've…

I had lost weight and hit a plateau that would not budge (months worth). I weighed my food, logged every bite, ran 3-4 times/week, Zumba, etc. A doctor I work with is a huge IF proponent and talked to me about the reasons behind it. I decided to give it a try and did the 5:2 plan. (ate up to 2000 cal/day 5d/w, 2 days…

I had surgery 3 weeks ago and all I can do is sit around. I am eating way too much as well, and I've gained 5 lbs. I'm finally able to do some things and that helps, but I've started that vicious cycle that is so hard for me to break. Thanks for posting this - it's good to know there are others like me that slip

I have a horrible sweet tooth and am struggling to cut all added sugars from my diet. I have come to believe it is an addiction with me (note I said me). If I can make it through a week, the cravings go away shortly after. However I have to cut things that are similar (note 'sugar free') so that means diet soda, sugar free…

I have found there are some things I cannot stop eating once I start. If I open a bag of Sunchips I cannot stop before the bag is gone. Therefore there are no Sunchips in my house period. If I restrict myself too much and try to change my entire diet at one time, I overeat on something I really crave (like pizza). If other…

I never log when on vaca and eat what I want. We go to WDW every year where the food is outstanding. I WAY overeat and usually come back carrying a lot of water weight (and usually sick of eating). Sometimes it's a struggle to get back to watching my intake, but I usually feel bad enough for overeating I'm ready to get…

Absolutely - that is 42 weeks away. you can do it!

AWESOME!!!! Not only did you lose weight, you look 10 years younger (and I love the new short curly hair!). You got this HM girl!
