  • You have to burn fat all over your body, it's not true that you can lose fat in specific areas. Keep a healthy diet with around 150 carbs/day, drink a lot of water, cut alcohol and caffeine and weight train more than you do cardio :-) good luck!
  • Good question - my first baby is coming in November and I hear that breastfeeding mothers should eat an additional 500 calories a day. To lose the baby weight, I was planning on configuring my settings to lose 1.5 pounds per week but add -500 calories to breakfast every day I breastfeed to make sure I am eating enough.…
  • Just look up each item in the food database and add them in for lunch. Or, if you eat the same salad a lot, add all the ingredients as a meal and add the meal to your lunch for that day.
  • In my opinion, hormonal birth control methods can really mess with your body - weight gain, mood swings, acne, tiredness, headaches - which is why I searched high and low for a different way to go about it. I found this little fertility computer called the "Lady Comp" about 3 years ago. My husband and I used it the whole…
  • Hello! Congratulations!! This is a really exciting time! Here is a really good article about what to (not to) eat when pregnant from WebMD: http://www.webmd.com/baby/guide/eating-right-when-pregnant. I'm 34 weeks along with my first and have had morning (all day) sickness the whole time. It was really bad in the beginning…
  • Here is a pretty good writeup on where to get vitamin D: http://www.algaecal.com/vitamin-d/vitamin-d-sources.html. The best source is from 10-15 mins of sun exposure a couple times a week, but there are other sources as well if you need to stay out of the sun.
  • You should just go and enjoy yourself! Don't overeat, just have a couple favorites. Have you checked to see if common "fair food" items are in the food database?
  • The best way to get real results is to focus on building muscle through strength training and only doing small amounts of cardio as a warm up and cool down to your lifting routine. I'd say a good ratio is 90% strength training and 10% cardio. Sure, you can burn calories through cardio, but once you are done, the calorie…
  • MFP calculates your calorie needs for weight loss so if it says to eat 1200 calories a day but then you work out and burn 300 calories, you actually need to eat back the 300 workout calories so that you stay at 1200 calories overall for the day. Whether or not you exercise, you want to always stay at the number of calories…
  • You should always try to eat carbohydrates that are "whole", not refined like "enriched bleached wheat flour". To see what's in what you are eating, read the nutrition label and the first item on the list should be a whole grain. Basically, any grain can be whole - wheat is just one of them. There is rice, wheat, barley,…
  • After the baby comes in November, I think this is what we are going to do!
  • Thanks Greg! Great post! I would like to eventually try Paleo later, but as a stepping stone which do you think is better - gluten free or low carb?
  • We generally eat healthy, but I think there are too many carbohydrates. Diet was referring to the daily way of eating, not necessarily a "diet" :-) Thanks for your input!
  • Fat is good for you! http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/features/good-fats-bad-fats
  • Yes, I agree - eat what you want just as long as you are at your goals for the day. And, if you go over now and then oh well! :-) There's always tomorrow!
  • Haha! The guy sounded like the guy on the Powerthirst video!!
  • They do look great, and it can be done but keep in mind they are probably at their competition fat percentage which requires some pretty hardcore diet and exercise routines to get to, let alone try and maintain. They are still inspirations nonetheless!!! :-)
