Well then! Really annoys me as I opted for MFP Premium when it came out. I've got well over 1000 days logged in with meals tracked. So the challenge would not have been much of a challenge. I think I'll send the folks at MFP an email and ask that they run challenges across the board or not at all. They certainly seem to…

Well done!

Closet shopping is a fabulous reward, keep checking in there and soon you'll be taking the larger sizes to the local Good Will.

Hi there, I was just approved for this group tonight. My RL name is Judi but around MFP, Divediva2. I am 57yo/F/5"1.5"/194.7lbs. I have been on a diet for most of my adult life. Sad really because when I look back my true gain of weight was not until my mid 30s after having my kids. I stayed home and wasn't really happy so…

Many doctors don't know a lot about diets and nutrition. It is a very small section in their education. I'm a nurse and worked many years with dieticians. The advice to go lower carb is excellent. You also need to be aware to eat healthy fats and protein. If you can lay your hands on GI index diet it has great advice for…

If you have not found a doctor, consider going to an endocrinologist. They special in disease of the endocrine system, thyroid is under this specialty. You need to get a full work up, TSH, T3, T4 and the Thyroid Antibody screen. I was diagnosed in early March, my medication is the lowest dose. I have noticed a slight…

There are many great sources of protein out there. Lean meats, poultry, pork, fish, canned fish, dark leafy veg, beans and legumes, dairy sources, eggs. When I'm planning my meals, usually 3 main meals and 2-3 smaller meals I try to divide my number of grams into those meals evenly. So I aim for 20-30 g per each main meal,…

What I really want to know is why does NikonPal have a ticker and mine is gone?! I thought the MFP techs decided to banish it for some reason. Oh and you have great stats NikonPal! Well done.

I am currently working out with a trainer 3 days a week for 1 hour. We do strength training, stretching and some short HIIT sessions. 2 days a week I do HIIT sessions for 25 minutes and then 1 day a week I do Active Recovery for 45 minutes, it is cardio but not as intense as the HIIT sessions. I have been doing this for 10…

Also I was a nurse, I don't want to be that fat old lady that nurses dread having to lift and help into a chair or be moved up the bed!

No more joint pain, lethargy, lack of sleep, feeling bloated, great numbers for BP and blood values. That's why I want to lose weight. If I look good then that's a great bonus.

I eat all types of healthy foods, meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, whole grains, fruit, dairy and I am feeling great. I'll stick with this, I have to live my life and it includes all of the above plus a little wine or mojito for some fun. 10lb gone in 9 weeks, I think I am on to something here.

Well I'm a classic example of someone who has yo yoed, done many diet plans from Nutrisystem to Weight Watchers to Beverly Hills etc.. Never lost much weight, about 25lb total in the past 25 years of my life. Fast forward to this year, I am 57, 5'1" tall and weighed 198 lb, on July 28th I started at the gym. I had my diet…

Everyone is different and all approaches to how you lose weight is different. I have been working consistently since July 28th at the gym and with my eating, I noticed a huge change last week. I do have many more pounds to lose so I needed that boost. I don't look much different but boy do I feel different. I am down 7.2…

I hear you. I would love to be that fit and healthy weight person that just eats. Unfortunately I am not that person. I have really been stressing about every mouthful. My trainer stepped in two weeks ago, first she upped my calorie intake by 500 per day as I did not eat enough, then we set my macros as per body type. I…

^^Exactly how my trainer is training me, 4 weeks in I have lost 4.3lbs, and 5% Body Fat. I do a combination of strength training, HIIT sessions and one day of active recovery. In two of the weeks we upped my calorie intake from 1350 to avg of 1800 per day. Needless to say this is working. The past 8 months doing my old…

I just don't bother recording start times or even log my activities. I have my calories and macros set for my current activity level and I don't want my diary to show me how many calories more I can eat. My PT suggested this. The idea is to run at a calorie deficit in order to lose weight. If I eat the calories back, no…

FYI unless you are held up by an emergency being late is just plain inconsiderate and rude.

Wow. I breast fed three kids too, and here I thought my poor posture was from slouching. I stand stooped and corrected!

I need to get new bras, I am down a size in the band and the ones I have are done up on the snuggest hooks. Even my tight sports bra is looser. :blushing:

I use mine daily and I have trained my hubby to weigh my portions when he is cooking. I am pretty uptight about numbers so weighing makes sense to me.

If you are struggling with an ED you need to see a qualified counsellor who can recommend a dietician as well. Preplan and use MFP but use it to help you see your intake and how it affects your body. Do not use it as a weight loss tool. Use it to attain a healthy weight and maintain that healthy weight. I urge you to speak…

I love oatmeal so I add protein powder to it. I use a vanilla flavoured one, I have also made one using egg whites while cooking the oatmeal on the stove and also pecans or almonds are a great addition. I have also added chocolate protein powder to my coffee, mochachino anyone!

I would keep taking the med, be aware of your food intake. Get out for some activity. Weight loss or gain is a very common side effect in many medications. If you find that you are gaining despite eating well and exercise then another visit with your doctor to discuss a possible alternative to the med you are taking, make…

I don't think you will if you keep your portions to moderate sizes. You might slow your progress or you might find it makes no difference. You can try it for a few weeks and see how it goes, you keep losing you continue on. If you gain or stall you may want to make it only one "fun" meal. Cheers!

The point is you must hike in the Alps to shoot the venison!

Your body does not instantly digest and process the protein you eat. It takes time. You can continue to mix the two if you like to. I have protein at each meal, sometimes from two sources and honestly, it keeps me feeling satisfied. Unless you have a medical reason such as kidney disease, keep doing what your are.

Invite him to come to the gym with you. And if his comment does bother you, tell him so. Tell him what you need so you can get to the gym. Many here do have busy jobs but still manage to get to the gym. I am a nurse, you want to see some steps, follow a nurse around for the day. And a little venting here does no harm!

Wow that beginner work out sounds very tough! I have been going to a trainer for a month now, one thing I have learned is that form is key. I have also learned stretching is your very best friend after you have done your exercise. Warm up with a light cardio on the treadmill or bike or elliptical or weapon of choice! Then…
