Slave to food (even healthy food)

I felt like I had to submit this to the community :)

I've found that it's becoming hard not to think about food many times during the day. Not because I'm hungry, or have cravings, but it's a new state in my mind, how to eat healthy, what not to eat, and so on...

I hope some day I can carry on without thinking much about it, and still, eat healthy and live a healthy life... I don't know if I'm making sense here. I don't want to be a slave to the food (healthy or not).

I'm just thinking out loud :)

I can relate... I am always planning my meals & avoiding situations where I cannot access or eat healthy food. It has definitely affected my social life because I I have cut down on entertaining (I love to cook & have dinner parties) as well as eating out with friends, and I am avoiding alcohol.

When I am maintaining it is a lot easier, because I remain hardcore during the week & have a couple of splurges on the weekend & it all balances out. It's just when I am actively trying to lose weight that I get consumed with food & planning meals & activities, etc.

I hear you. I would love to be that fit and healthy weight person that just eats. Unfortunately I am not that person. I have really been stressing about every mouthful. My trainer stepped in two weeks ago, first she upped my calorie intake by 500 per day as I did not eat enough, then we set my macros as per body type. I have to say I have never felt so full or satisfied. I plan out my food for the following day, I add in proteins at my meals, then go back and add fats, then the carbs. It was very tedious the first few days but honestly now it is part of my routine. Plan it out, keep my phone handy so I know what my meal is to be. No real thinking involved day of. I am even getting the hang of changing a meal or portion of one on the fly! I have had one meal out at a restaurant since starting.
I know that there will be challenges but I am ready for them because of planning ahead, it is a learning curve. I think eventually this will become my life and I won't feel like a slave to my food. I will just enjoy it because it is enjoyable.

I think about food a lot because I like to eat and it's mostly food I shouldn't eat due to HBP.

Why can't you entertain and still eat healthy? There are tons of amazing recipes online that are easy to track and can meet your macros/micros without any issue. I cook for people all the time!

I still do entertain... but not with the same frequency & not everyone enjoys healthier fare... that is just reality! And admittedly, my friends are used to me producing decadent dishes & desserts!! I am also being especially restrictive until the end of this month - I am going on a birthday beach trip - so I am avoiding any & all temptations (like alcohol!) until then. I will not feel as pressured when I don't have 4 days in a bikini looming over me lol!!!
