  • Got rid of cable a year and a half ago - wouldn't consider going back. Went from roughly $130/mo to $40/mo. Roku, netflix, and an antennae for local channels....which includes our football games! My hubby does miss out on many baseball games, but he seems good with his decision. Gives us a reason to either go to the game…

  • Optimum Nutrition natural vanilla protein powder mixed in almond milk (or regular milk) is very good! Hubby and I look forward to our post-work protein shake treat.
  • Bump - looks amazing!
  • thanks for sharing!
  • You are all awesome! I am now googling the Color Run, Warrior Dash, etc! I never thought much about putting a list like this together....and love the idea, thanks! To start... 1. Color Run, mud run, and warrior dash 2. Complete 20 push ups with proper form 3. Skydiving (yeah, not really fitness, but a major milestone) 4.…
  • I'm at about 141 and looking to get to 130. I've been losing the same 2 pounds for the past couple of months. I was 'on a roll' there for a while with consistent loss, but - like someone else noted - had not been taking the calorie goals as seriously and have been fighting with those 2 pounds. The hubby and I are back on…
  • bump - awesome!
  • Awesome - I will be making this tonight. Thanks for sharing!
  • FT4 - affordable, straightforward, and accurate. best of luck!
  • I love this thread! I've never really tried to understand the difference between sweet potatoes and yams....but I'm on a yam kick and imagine it would work well for sweet potatoes. I cut my yams into about 1/2 inch thick rounds. In a bowl I mix up some lemon juice, soy sauce, a touch of olive oil, cinnamon, garlic, and…
  • I'm not sure I have anything new to add....just to reiterate - GO! When I joined a gym a year ago, I was told that the gym I joined was a 'meat market'. I was thinking 'great, just what I need'. Turns out that is a little bit the case, but you know what? As everyone else has mentioned, almost everyone is in their own…
  • I'm not sure these are really diet foods, but are generally light on calories and a tasty snack and/or meal Homemade 'brown bag' popcorn - 1/4 cup popcorn kernels, a pour of oil, and whatever seasoning you feel like - mix in a brown lunch bag for a wonderful snack for about 60 calories. Laughing Cow or String cheese Sea's…
  • Definitely eat back your exercise calories! My husband was struggling with losing, while seemingly doing everything right. We got heart rate monitors and realized that he was burning more calories while working out than the machine indicated. He started eating back the appropriate amount and has seen the benefit.
  • bump, awesome!
  • looks awesome - thanks!
  • Awesome, thanks for taking the time to write this! Keep on the journey!
  • Wow, that is a lot of exercise DVDs - awesome! I got really jazzed about workout DVDs and bought several of Jillian Michael's beginners DVDs (frontside/backside and a couple others). Like you, I've only recently started to use them.....and actually like it! :) We actually joined a gym and I thought that would totally…
  • Always coffee, black. weekdays are usually.... 1/3 cup muesli w/ about 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk OR 1/2 cup oatmeal w/ unsweetened vanilla almond milk, walnuts, honey or sometimes brown sugar, plus or minus any fresh or frozen berries that are around. frozen blueberries or dried cherries are my favorite. Most…
  • Good for you! I don't really plan out cheats (meaning, I don't set aside a day a week), but do tend to allow myself to indulge in whatever I want within my calorie goals - as long as it fits, it's in. On days that I really do cheat, oh boy - usually it is bar food for me! Spinach artichoke dip, beer, wings, lots of bread,…
  • I can only speak from personal experience and opinion....I have never been a fan of the idea of cutting out food groups completely. Sure, substituting whole grains for white breads and pasta, but not deprivation of a type of food. I savor food and feel moderation is key. I feel I get farther by letting myself enjoy…
