  • Agree with ZipperJJ. Although, I have been experimenting with breads make with almond flour/coconut flour/flaxseed for my kids just because it's a much healthier and more nutritious option than most breads out there. They have been really good.
  • Mostly almond flour and some coconut flour and flaxseed meal. Google "Elana's Pantry" blog and "against all grain" blog for great baking recipes.

  • Just sent you a request! I also started low carb/paleo eating after reading Wheat Belly.
  • I hate to say it but I used to be one of those people . . . and now I'm eating my words! I have had the greatest improvements and weight loss since going low carb and eliminating most processed foods and grains. My interest started after reading "Wheat Belly" by William Davis. Everything in this book resonated with me. The…
  • Thanks for the input! I try to come up with a meal plan each week before heading to the grocery and this past week I was having a hard time. I love pinterest, so I'll utilize that. I also read the Dana Carpenter book and was considering her books. Love the B&N idea because I can always use an excuse to go. Thanks again.…
  • Great topic! I'm struggling with this also. I have a 1 & 2 yr old. My husband and I have eliminated all grains, but we are using up the bread/crackers/etc in the pantry with the kids. We are making a gradual transition to "paleo-like" diet with them with the exception of diary. I know what the paleo book says, but I just…
  • I'm just reading Paleo and trying to ease into, but I eliminated most grains about 3 weeks ago, therefore limited carbs overall. My weight loss is great but most of all I'm so exciting to not be a slave to hunger all the time. I was getting so frustrating on the calorie restriction and mostly carb diet. I was starving all…
  • Google "Elana's pantry", she has a recipe for Paleo bread. Haven't tried it yet though.
  • I don't think you can go wrong with Polar products. I've had a couple. Currently I love my Polar FT4! A fellow MFP friend just showed me the Sportline solo 925W that is a pedometer and HRM so I might look into that.
  • I am a very slow loser also. I have went 3-4 weeks with no loss. I know how frustrating it can be but if this is a change in lifestyle then it doesn't matter how long it takes to lose. Hang in there and keep up the good work. Eventually the scale will move.
  • I started out on MFP trying to lose 30 pounds and I'm 5'3". It said I could eat 1380 calories. I lost very slowly at this (7 pounds over 3 months) and have since changed my activity level to the lowest setting and now it has me eating 1200 calories a day. I'm now averaging 1 pound/wk. I eat my calories plus my exercise…
  • Thanks for this post as I was trying to make the same decision. Ultimately, I think that any heart rate monitor is going to be the way to go since it uses your actual heart rate. Now to decide on which heart rate monitor to get. I've used polar in the past (and liked it) but haven't researched recently.
  • Your weight loss is so inspiring as I struggle to lose baby weight! You should be so proud of yourself. Thanks for sharing your success.
  • I'm also trying to get this weight off after baby #2! My son is 2 and my daughter 7 months. There's a great, supportive group, called "Moms on a mission" if you would like support. Seems like a great group of moms!
  • Would love more support! It helps keep me motivated.
  • Glad to find knitters! I'm FLknitter on ravelry.
  • I used to go to the gym before having kids and now I just can't fit it in. I have been doing Tony Horton's 10 minute trainer every day for almost 4 wks and walking a couple times a week. Great workouts in a short amount of time. I could even squeeze it in if both kids are awake. I'll take measurements at the end of the…

  • First off, I'm so glad to have found this group! I am 34 and have 2 kids -Delaney 7 months and Jackson who is 22 months. Needless to say 2 babies in less than 2 years has taken a toll on my body! I have been married for 7 years. I had lost weight on weight watchers before having kids. I managed to only gain 25 pounds with…
