  • Ok, I have a strong opinion about this... I lost weight with WW back in 2007, again in 2011, and I used it to lose weight after both kids in 2012 and 2016. And here's my opinion- each time they have changed the point system over time, it gets harder and harder for me to follow it and more and more restrictive. I can't do…
  • It's only been 2 months, and I have lost apparently 2-3 lbs, but the scale hasn't moved in 2 weeks which is frustrating. I don't eat back my exercise calories... It's possible that it's overestimating but I don't pay too much attention to that. I guess it's possible that my TDEE and everything is slightly overestimated, I…
  • I feel this... I'm just hungry on a deficit, like gnawing hungry. It's not as terrible if I do higher protein and fat, but it's still bad some days. When I feel that way, I have a flavored sparkling water or a flavored herbal tea. And I think about how I must be burning calories if I'm this hungry.... Wish I had a…
  • Thanks everyone!! I ended up logging the ingredients (chicken, veggies, noodles, etc) I think it ended up being 800-900 calories. Probably best to not overthink it and move on!!
  • Thank you so much!!!! My biggest motivation is to give them a good example of a healthy relationship with food and a healthy body image. So to enjoy a treat with them without guilt and without hiding anything was really empowering!
  • I definitely have relatives that will drop off a ton of food for us because they don't want to eat it, so I've been there. I guess I wasn't clear in my post, I had only two macarons, and I cut them up and shared them with my kids, so I'm pretty sure I'm good in terms of that!
  • It's very hard to wait, I know, it feels like you have to start now. But honestly, I wouldn't do any dieting for at least 6 weeks if not longer. Your body is healing from a huge major event, and if you're breastfeeding then it's doing even more work. I was always told to wait until 8 weeks pp to start any kind of deficit
  • Just don't try for too much of a deficit. I'd say you could try 1800-2000 and see how it goes. Also weigh and accurately measure everything. I was able to lose 30 lbs after each baby. But I never dropped too low with my calories.
  • I personally don't think that I could LOSE weight while intuitively eating. I think with practice I could maintain, and I did for about a year maintain without tracking prior to the pandemic. I do believe that our bodies want to store extra calories for a caveman famine scenario, so I think it's totally possible to feel…
  • My resting HR is 48-51... I honestly don't know if the calories burned on my fitbit are accurate or not, I didn't know that was an issue...? I don't monitor my HR while I'm working out though, I just look afterwards to see if I got up to 130-140 at some point.
  • Omg ok, honestly... my biggest tip would be to NOT do anything extreme right now because it's not sustainable and it's too much on your plate. Focus on just 1-2 things for right now. Think of it this way- nothing will get better at all if you try extreme diets and can't maintain them. If I were you, I'd choose simple to…
  • I love this post so much. I'm so annoyed with men especially who are like, oh i started eating a salad for lunch and lost 15 lbs. Thanks for the update "Bill", thats super helpful for me with female hormones and metabolism. Also used to hate when women would be like, oh I got even lower than my pre-pregnancy weight from…
  • Honestly, pre COVID, I would say, yes to all of those things, but I can't say I'm handling stress well or sleeping well lately! But I get what you are saying, I'm hitting the veg and fruits, fiber, water, healthy fats, exercise, etc. And good point, prob longevity wise would be better to spend that mental energy on having…
  • I've read things about fasting promoting "autophagy" and other sort of cellular 'house cleaning' sorts of things that may -potentially- lead to some hypothetical improvements. But, just like cwolfman13 said above, I guess the hypothetical benefits that don't have any high quality evidence yet are probably not worth it. I…
  • Thanks everyone!! According to my deficit, I should be losing a pound a week, but honestly I'll take anything! Usually I tend to lose slow anyway, so I guess it is what it is. Happy to be on the right track!
  • Congrats on losing 10 lbs!!!!! That's amazing and not easy to do!!! Good luck at the doctor. I know it's hard when you have a family history of something and you can't change your genetics. BUT you are aware and making good choices, so you are doing everything in your control to do.
  • Hi!!! First off, you look great! For me personally, what has worked for losing the "mom tummy" is a combination of two things: -calorie deficit to lose overall fat -pilates and PT exercises to activate the TA and heal a DR I've also accepted that my stomach will never look the same. My muscles have stretched and even…
  • Thanks for everyone's responses, it's interesting to see the variety in opinions/info. The only reason I was considering a monthly fast was for specifically potential cellular benefits that I have heard about, but can't really find a definite on. I've read that like mice in a lab who they had fasting periodically lived…
  • I sometimes make a shake of coffee, quest cinnamon powder and a little macadamia milk. It's not too acidic but it's kinda sweet though
  • WW has been getting worse and worse in my opinion/experience. I was very successful with losing weight back around 2006 when the points somewhat correlated with calories. At that time, I found it was easier to think in the smaller numbers of points. The more and more they have messed with the calculation of points, the…
  • Haha, good point!!!!!
  • Ok, OP here, my high calorie day is tomorrow and now I'm feeling nervous about eating more! I have the room calorie wise to eat some ice cream, but I'm having anxiety about the amount of sugar that is in one sitting. It's kind of funny how your brain can be used to eating pretty crappy, and then after tracking for 2 weeks,…
  • I was thinking of fasting more in terms of the longevity benefits, NOT for weight loss. I should specify that in the initial comment
  • I don't take any medication for PCOS specifically, although I take Lipitor for high cholesterol (runs in the family). I do take Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol supplements for my PCOS. In terms of weight loss, if I follow a somewhat low-ish carb diet and count my calories, I do lose weight. I just have to be ON POINT…
  • The weaning transition is tough... And making the breast milk burns a lot of calories, so to continue to lose weight, you will have to eat less calories. I was using WW at the time, but I was able to wean and continue to lose weight, it can just be tough at first to realize you don't get as much food.
  • So today is my "cheat day"- ie: now I'm renaming it my higher calorie day or "refeeding" day. So I'm going for around 1800-2000 calories. I'm going to be eating a normal breakfast and lunch and saving the calories for dinner, but we are ordering out from a mexican restaurant, and I just hate the anxiety around trying to…
  • So I logged some of my veg from today, and it seemed like certain things were miniscule amounts and others were a bit more. The radishes in my salad were apparently only 7 calories, and like the cup of arugala was almost nothing. I guess I'll keep going and see how my progress is, but if I have a large portion, i might…
  • I don't know the actual answer to this, but for myself, secret eating was and still is a thing. I think it's all tied into shame and binge eating and cravings. I had an ED as a teenager, which was also a huge secret. So idk, I think it's prob very complicated psychologically. I try now to not do things in secret or that I…
  • I know what you mean... Personally, I'm able to weigh out very specific amounts of nut butters and be fine with that (8-16 grams). But I do have other foods that I just can't incorporate regularly because it's so hard to restrict the serving size (ice cream!). I don't have a lot of very fattening cheeses for that reason…
