Are diet breaks helpful in breaking through plateaus?
Hi everyone, I am down to the last 12-14 lbs and have lost 14 lbs slowly from February to July. I incorporated weight lifting in late May and have progressed since then. But my weight loss stalled since July. I tried decreasing calories but found myself starving. I adjusted my goals to lose as slow as 1 lb per month. I…

Macros for hypoglycemia
The past few blood tests mostly to check for some fatigue (I suspected thyroid), during my latest pregnancy, and recently to check for kidney issues, have consistently shown low glucose levels. Fasting levels under 60, post meal (1hour) never higher than 90. Honestly I feel only this massive fatigue 2 hours post lunch…

Garmin connect not syncing
Help! I have tried disconnecting the apps ( connect with MFP) and even though they act like they are connected I am getting no calorie adjustment in MFP. It even shows 0 steps even though I walked 5 miles yesterday. Anyone else has this issue? Suggestions? I am starving on gym days without my exercise calories.

Lost 12 lbs - wouldn't body fat drop?
I have started this very gradual journey in late February. I lost about 12 lbs, have been stuck since July at 150lbs. I am 5'6", female, 38. I lift heavy 2-3 times a week and cardio once or twice. Also walk daily about 4 to 5 miles. Is it possible that I only lost 1% on body fat while losing 12 lbs and starting weight…

Fitness Tracker Adjustment Seems SO small!
I have the garmin vivoactive to track both my steps and cardio (I use the HR monitor strap when running/elliptical, bike, etc). Anyways, I set up MFP as I am sedentary (which I am not typically), so I was expecting some good daily adjustments. I am female, 5'6" and 150 lbs, trying to go down to 135. For someone with my…

Strong lifts - running between sets?
I have been doing strong lifts 5x 5 for 5 months now. At first I just rested between sets. Then started walking a couple of laps (my gym has a small track) between each set. In the past month I started running between most of the sets. I typically get 2 to 2.5 miles in during each workout, so I thought in about 1 hour I…

Protein supplement
Hi everyone. I wanted to hear from all of you everyone MFPers on what protein powder you recommend a supplement. Is there something that would be safe for me to take and also my 11 year old son? While I am trying to lean out, he needs extra calories to gain some weight and be able to play soccer at competitive level. Could…

Help synching garmin vivoactive
I finally saved enough to buy myself a new fitness tracker a couple weeks ago. I had the original garmin vivofit for a year until I lost it while traveling ( horrible band that kept coming out on that one). I decided to get a vivoactive since it has decent battery life and is water proof. I have been trying for two weeks…

Vivofit adjustment suddenly dropped to less than half
I am hoping to get a clarification here. I am setup as sedentary on here and have a vivofit I used to count my steps and adjust my activity level. Up to last week I used to get about 300-400 calories for 10-11k steps a day. I am 150.5 lbs currently ( started at 162). The last two days I only barely get 150 calories a day…

Estimating burns when bradycardic
I know this is probably a strange or unusual question. I am trying to use my vivofit with the strap to get my calorie burns. I only started realizing recently that I have a hard time raising my heart rate to what most people easily do without full out sprinting or very high intensity workouts. I knew I had low resting…

Runner's Knee?
I think I have runner's knee. I have been trying to ignore it and run less or put less weight while walking, but in the evenings the pain has increased and it looks swollen. I have been using ice and anti-inflammatories, but what else can I do? I am also lifting weights (Strong Lifts), just started last week. Should I give…

Strength Training Help
I still have about 20-25 lbs to lose, and have been watching my diet and doing mostly cardio (running, elliptical and dance classes). I do limited strength training using machines for 20 minutes a week. I know this is not enough, but I am terrified to lift heavier weights and don't know where to start. I use to lift…

Time for a change or should I stick to the plan longer?
I have started logging in consistently 4 weeks ago. I am aiming for a manageable weight loss of 1 lb per week, especially since I am still breastfeeding my 14 month old (quite a bit) and I don't want to have to stop yet. I exercise 3-4 times a week more intensely and walk most of the other days. In the first two weeks, I…

Weight loss while Breastfeeding
Now that my little one hit a year and my extra weight is still with me, I am trying more seriously to lose the extra pregnancy weight (15 bs) plus the extra weight I started with another (10-12 lbs). I am trying to it slowly and safely since my 12 month old is still relying on my milk quite a bit. He has allergies and…
