Cramps and Supplementation
Hi peeps....Just wanted to get your thoughts on something. Been away from keto for awhile. It was kind of a slow dropping off process and any reasons that I had would literally just be excuses so I won't drag you through them. Back on keto as of Monday (daughter as well) and of course wondering why I ever strayed...LOL.…

Question for the Thyroid Experts Out There
In all the testing I've been doing lately my PCP requested I get my TSH checked because my right thyroid gland was slightly enlarged. Results are back and my level is 0.52 (Normal range stated as 0.47-4.68) Last time I had my TSH checked about a year and a half ago my level was 5.60 which was actually higher than the…

Dietician Appointment Today
With the blessing of my neurologist I am having a consultation with a dietician today to "hopefully" make sure that the way I am following the ketogenic diet is correct for helping with my epilepsy. If I'm in this for the long haul I want to be doing it in the most effective way for my disease. I am however slightly…

Could this be true? A craving question....
So for the last two days I have been sort of craving bread carbs....A bagel with cream cheese, a blueberry muffin. Just random bready things. Now I am 4 months into Keto...have hit my goal weight...Trying to figure out maintenance and planning to see a nutritionist next week to discuss how to tweak my plan to better fit my…

Acid Reflux - Better or Worse?
Just a quick poll out there. I see differing information online about how the ketogenic diet can make acid reflux better or worse. Any personal experiences out there? The reason I'm asking is that I ended up in the emergency room last night for chest pains and shortness of breath. Luckily they didn't end up being related…

Sodium "Game"
So I think I've figured out a good way to make sure I'm remembering to supplement my sodium intake. I have a Sea Salt grinder in my desk and every time I see sodium mentioned on the forum I grind a little out into my hand and down it! As many times a day as sodium is mentioned I figure I have to be meeting my salt…

Can you smell the carbs?
So I'm at work and my co-worker just heated up her lunch. I don't know what it is, but just from the smell I can tell that it is something very carby.....Potatoes or noodles if I had to narrow it down.... I wonder if our sense of smell becomes sensitized as well? Any thoughts? :)

Hungry....but not hangry....
I'm seriously hungry the last couple of days which I haven't been in a long time. Craving cottage cheese and seafood of all things....Could be worse I guess...TOM is two weeks away so can't be that lol.... :)

I'm not usually one to comment on things like this.....
But I happened to hear something on the news channel that had me wondering about the state of the world we live in today. They are now genetically modifying apples so that they don't turn brown. http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/16/health/apples-genetically-modified-usda/ Really....have we gotten to where we won't even eat…

Rally Around Me Troops - Needing Encouragement Today!
So as some of you who are on the forum regularly may know I started keto last month in hopes that it would help with my epilepsy (seizures). I had done so much reading and research and had such great hopes that this might be the ticket that would free me from my seizures either along with my epilepsy medicine or possibly…

Low Blood Sugar?
Been doing ketogenic for a little over a month now. Very low carb with 80/15/5. Been very good about staying at my carb limit. This morning I put about 1/2 tsp. of syrup in my peanut butter for my keto pancake mainly for the taste. Whole breakfast still only about 9 carbs which is a little under half of my daily limit.…

Cravings Today
Been strict keto/low carb for a little over a week now with great success. Mainly doing the diet to help with my epilepsy control (hopefully), but figured the weight loss wouldn't hurt either! Down 8.5 lbs and feeling good. Can already tell a difference in how my clothes are fitting, and have been slowly figuring…

LCHF for Seizures
Wondering if any of you out there are following a low carb high fat diet to help with epilepsy or seizure reduction? I have tried low carb before for dieting, but contemplating following a more strict modified ketogenic diet to help with my seizure reduction as my luck with medicines thus far hasn't been too great....
