Day 1 of Starting Strength Novice - Yoga to get rid of DOMS? (newbie question)
I'm thinking of incorporating Yoga into Starting Strength. Has anyone had success in that helping with the soreness? I think for now 3 days per week of lifting may be too much for me and I've always been interested in yoga, so maybe swap that out for a lifting day? What Yoga youtube videos are your favorites? My gym does…

Body Conscious - and this is not the type of thread you think it is....
I'm not sure where to post this, but here seems like a good start. My daughter is 16 and comes to the gym with me on the weekends when I go and loves it. It makes her feel better about herself, stronger, healthier, etc, which I love to encourage - feel good about YOU. She has a low self-esteem as so many teenage girls…

BMR / TDEE / MFP Calorie Goals - is it this easy to find your happy medium?
I'm going on week 4 and still feel like such a newbie with the math of it all. I did the TDEE / BMR calculator and my BMR is 1431 calories per day, my TDEE (for a sedentary lifestyle) is 1700 or so, but MFP gives me 1300 calories to lose 1 pound per week as a sedentary lifestyle - why am I given a number below my BMR when…

weighing a burger
I am dying for a burger, so how would I weigh and log correctly? I made the batch with 2 lbs of meat and they are being grilled. I've put in my recipe but an unsure how to do the servings. Would I cook the burgers then weigh out the patty? It would be too hard to weigh it raw as I am making burgers for the whole famIly and…

True Nutrition
I came to MFP a month ago because I was determined to lose weight. I had lost 5 pounds doing Insanity in just one week before joining MFP, but gave up because it was really hard on my knees. I lost 5 more pounds doing miscellaneous workouts on YouTube, but as I looked at my actual nutrition, I was shocked that I wasn't…

silly/semi-embarrassing question
I did not technically work out today, but I did do something outside the realm of "sedentary" which is what i have set for my profile. We have a very large (would fit 2 cars), awning on our back patio. I went up and down the ladder many times, at least an hour, but not consecutively, putting up christmas lights for ambient…
