From 200 to 140. Maintaining 2 Years and Counting... Ask me anything!
Before pic: Sept 2014 After pic: Aug 2015 - Present I struggled with being overweight my entire life. Always losing a few then gaining back any weight I lost. At one point, I had almost given up and just accepted I would be obese the rest of my life... until I finally understood and accepted that it's all about CICO. When…

One Year Anniversary of Maintenance
Lost 60, hit my never-in-a-million-years-thought-I-could-get-to-this-weight weight and have kept it off for 52 weeks and counting. Nothing really more to say about it except, Yay!

Does anyone else do this.... eating uneven calories at maintenance?
So I've been at maintenance for about 8 months after losing 60 pounds (by eating around 1500 cal/day) over the preceding 9 months, and I reverse dieted to figure out my maintenance level is about 2000-2200 cal/day. I've been maintaining my weight within a 5 lb range over that time. I weigh myself twice a day, every day,…

Maintenance 6 Months
Hello everyone. Thought I would give you an update. It's been 6 months since going on maintenance and about 14 months since starting NS. It's been going well. Here are some bullet points: - I still use NS foods because I enjoy the variety and the prepackagedness of it. I use them mainly Monday to Friday at work for…

Ironically, counting calories made me realize which foods I loved....
.... and which foods I could live without. For example, I used to LOVE White Castle sliders... but at 155 calories per slider... it was too many calories for me for such a little thing. I could eat 10-12 of those in one sitting! And just eating two or three isn't satisfying to me. Oreo double stuff cookie... 70 calories…

Third Month of Maintenance after Nutrisystem... tips for KEEPING the weight off
Hi all. I hope everyone is doing well. As I can see from the board postings, it seems many of us are progressing along great and also approaching maintenance. Congrats! Maintenance - Month Four
Hi All, Hope everyone is doing well. It seems to have quieted here on this group. I thought I would continue my series which hopefully helps to encourage people to carry on and be healthy.... Well, all is going well. 1. I'm still maintaining between 140-145 lbs. A year ago, I was about 200 lbs with a BMI more than 31. BMI…

Are you not losing weight fast enough?
I realized something that completely helped me to overcome how bad I used to feel when the scale didn't say what I wanted it to say.... When we're trying to lose weight, we naturally focus on the number on the scale. And in addition we focus on some time frame associated with that number. "I lost 5 pounds in 7 days." "I…

Two Months on Maintenance.... more thoughts
Hi everyone. I hope everyone is doing well. I wanted to update you on my journey so far and the things that I've learned. As you may or may not know, I joined NS on Nov 1, 2014. At my highest I was about 200 lbs and was able to lose around 60 lbs. I have been in maintenance since mid-June 2015. I continue to order NS…

Almost one month on maintenance, and the good news is... it's not much different.... My thoughts...
Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a great summer so far. And I'm happy to see all the progress everyone is making. I haven't posted in awhile and wanted to check in and give you my thoughts and insights about NS and maintenance and their similarities and differences. This has been such an incredible journey for me.…

Creatine and water weight gain question
Has anyone experienced water weight gain after starting creatine supplementation? I just started a week ago and have gained 5 pounds. I understand this is normal but want to know if this eventually comes off? Or does it just stay as long as I'm taking creatine? Thanks

Goal! I did it!
Good morning everyone! I did it! After trying unsuccessfully to control my weight for the past, all my life really, trying and failing so many times, feeling like a failure and even giving up hope for the last several years, I finally reached my goal weight of a healthy weight in the middle of the BMI range. After hitting…

The terms "obese" and "overweight"
We hear these words said all the time and they are now associated with a negative connotation as well as an implication that someone who is obese or overweight are lazy or bad people. These words by themselves are objective neutral terms. But people have perverted their original meanings to insult people. Objectively,…

Almost at goal... starting to look ahead at what's next....
So thanks to NS, I'm down 50 something pounds, from around 200 lbs to 149 lbs and am less than 5 lbs from goal now... and at the slow pace I'm losing now, I might get there in the next month or two. I've been using this time to look at what I need to do to not gain it back, as well as set new goals. The good news is that I…

Do you worry about eating too many calories over your limit? How much is too much?
I see a lot of people worrying about eating too much over their calorie limit (100, 200, or 300 calories) for the day. I was exactly the same way, and I would over compensate by eating too little (100-200 calories UNDER my limit). This turned out to be detrimental to my overall progress, and for me, was completely…

Why I Failed NS... And How I Got Back On Track
I see a lot of us expressing our understandable frustration at plateauing or even gaining weight despite being on NS, and I look back on my journey so far and see that there were times when I stalled, or even gained from one week to the next. I thought about the things that made me fail. And when I look back, I see that,…

If you're exercising a lot, but not eating the right way, don't bother, you're just wasting time...
A lot of people I see are like how I used to be... I knew I was overweight, I was in denial that I was eating poorly, but I looked to exercise to solve my problem, without addressing the real problem: I WAS EATING WRONG. So, like a lot of people, I would exercise my butt off, an hour or more a day, lift weights, buy…

Falling off the wagon and the guilt. Feel like a loser? Feel like quitting?
Let's face it. Temptation is out there, everywhere, all the time. And despite our best intentions, we give in to it. Sometimes really give in. And then afterward we feel terrible about what we did, whether it's one donut, a meal, a weekend or a year. We can feel like complete failures and really come down hard on ourselves…
