Alternative ideas?
Hi I wanted to try and start Stronglifts 5x5 but my gym doesn't have a power rack (only a Smith machine) and I can't see more than one 'big' looking bar. So I think I'm going to have to go for an alternative workout programme. I have booked a session with a personal trainer but now I don't know what to ask for. I don't…

Best weight lifting routine/programme for female beginner
Hi I am female, 5'4", and 15 and a half stones. I'm 2 stones down from my start weight by following MFP calorie deficit and by gradually increasing my excersise. I am now doing several circuits or HIIT classes a week and have started to venture into the gym area. Cardio machines really bore me and I'm interested in…

Female 5'4" 15.5 stones New to gym..What is 'lifting heavy'?
So I'm confident with my 'diet' now in that I track my food, I'm eating well, always at a deficit (approx 1400 cals) and I lose weight every week that I do this. I've lost a stone and a half so far. Three months ago I started walking 25 mins each way to and from work. It killed me at first, like literally thought I'd die.…

What is best for weight loss?
Hi. I am 5'4" and female. I started out my weight loss 'journey' 6 weeks ago at 17 stones (238 lbs) and by tracking my calories I'm now down to 15 stoned 9 ( 219 lbs). Fitness wise I feel as though I am quite weak and terribly unfit. I'm definitely not flexible and my coordination isn't great. Despite all this I started…

Best use of gym time for weight loss
Hi So I am almost 3 weeks in to my weight loss journey. Started at 238 lbs (17 stones) and lost 9.75 lbs the 1st 2 weeks. I'm a 5'4" 38 year old woman. I joined a local low budget gym with the aim of working out a) to burn more calories to allow me to eat a bit more and b)to generally improve my fitness as it is currently…

Slimming World
No I'm not planning to join. But I'm just curious. My friend has lost 21 lbs (a stone and a half) in 6 or 7 weeks. I don't know her exact stats but approx. 5'6" and 200 lbs to start. She goes on about how on top of her 3 meals a day she is able to drink several bottles of wine a week plus eat take aways plus eat chocolate.…

Nuts
I've heard people talk about having nuts in their diet. What are the benefits since I assume they have quite a few calories? Are there nuts that are relatively low calorie? I'm not sure whether to fit nuts in to my diet. Previously I could quite easily munch on a whole jar of peanuts!

"Just Fit it in to your Daily Allowance"
Hi, I've been using MFP for a couple weeks now. I find the forum really interesting and helpful. I'm really curious about a statement that I read quite a lot; "eat whatever you want as long as it fits within your allowance". I'm on 1200 calories a day, so realistically I don't have a lot of calories to play around with.…

I'm currently eating 1200 calories with an aim of 2 lbs a week loss whilst I'm this obese. I lost 8 lbs (water) my first week. I am facing my fears and going to the gym tomorrow. It's been years and…

Confused about Calorie Limit
Hi. I am a 38 year old woman, 5'4", and started MFP a week ago at 17 stone (238 lbs). The app told me I should limit myself to 1200 calories a day, which I've read is the minimum I should go down to. In my first week I've lost 8 lbs which I know is mostly water weight but it's a great start. I'm haven't felt hungry yet,…
