My first success photo on MFP
This is the gap of the waist of my jeans after five months and 36 pounds lost: The picture doesn't show as much of a gap as there really is when I pull the band away from my waist. Not a big NSV but progress nonetheless. I'm happy about it, anyway! I am not going to do a face reveal here until I get to goal, which is about…

Embarrassing NSV
We got home from grocery shopping today. I was putting food away in the pantry when my pants fell down to my ankles! Yay!!! Fortunately my children were not present during this blessed event!

New Calorie Goal- Need Advice
My calories dropped by 220 this week with my last weigh-in. I have hit very close to them without my exercise added in. I have a private diary except to my friends. I am working hard to stay under and keep full. I know about the high-volume, low calorie foods, so what I would like to know is not what I should do…

My sweat hits the treadmill now!
When I first started my journey, my sweat would fall off and land on my stomach. Now, it falls in front of me and lands on the footpaths of my treadmill. My stomach is going away! Yay!

They finally fit
Last year my wife bought me a pair of pants that were so tight I could not wear them. The button lacked 6 inches before it would meet the button hole. I wore the pants to work yesterday! My jackets I bought two years ago swallow me up now. The blazer I wore yesterday will now button. It is still a little snug, but it…

Thinking of doing a one-time partial fast
I seldom fast. I should fast more for religious reasons, but I do not. I am thinking of doing a fast for the rest of the day. I need some advice. Here is a screen shot of my diary, and you can't see the 2 cups of water I have logged: Also, this is the first time I have ever used the quick-add calories option. Normally I…

NSV: Sweater Vest
My wife bought a sweater vest for me last year that was too small. I am wearing it now, and it is a perfect fit, even a tad loose in the belly! These are things that make the hard work worth it!

Need Help: I want to lose 31 pounds in 11 weeks
So, I am walking 2 miles a day. I am going to add some strength training. 11 Weeks from now is Thanksgiving. We usually go to see family, like most Americans. I have lost 27 of my 150 pounds. If I lose 31 pounds, I will be under 300 for the first time in ten years. When I see my family, I just want to be able to say I not…

I disagree with my BMI scale
The scale for a BMI says I should weigh 181 at 5'11.5". This gives me a BMI of 24.9, which is .1 below overweight. I am large-framed based on my wrist and ankle size. I can easily pull 190 (thin). Or if I work out or bulk up, 200. 190 is my goal. While text book I would be obese, would I be, really, if I am large framed?…

Still fat, but feel slim
Does it make sense to lose just a little bit of weight (I've lost only 27 pounds of the 150 I want to lose). I have noticed a loss in inches as well, but not enough to buy new clothes yet. That being said, I just feel slimmer, though at more than 300 pounds I am still obviously a fat guy. Why is it I feel slimmer, though…

Four NSVs
1) I sat in our glider rocker two nights ago, and when I got up, the chair did not go up with me. I'm embarrassed by the admission that I was that big, but hey, it's not happening anymore! 2) My hips and thighs have a space between their outside edges and my office chair! 3) My office chair is no longer pushing down under…

Small NSV
I was marinating some chicken when I noticed that my wedding ring was slipping off. I decided to try on my college ring, and I was able to get it on for the first time in a year without it hurting my finger or without forcing it on. As you can see it's still a little small, but it's progress!

"Nine More Times"
Allow Me to Encourage You Today: I have been feeling down about my weight for the last three days. I still have so much weight to lose. I started about eight weeks ago, and I have only lost 14 pounds. Then I had an epiphany just five minutes ago. One more pound, and I will have 10% of the total amount I want to lose! And…

P90X for the Hard of Hearing
Does P90X have closed captioning? I have looked for the answer online, but no dice.

Success, but no pics
So far I have not lost enough weight to do before and after pics. I am 22.4 pounds into a 150 pound weight loss goal. But my success story for today is the fact that I weight less today than I have in four years! YAY!

Not discouraged, but not motivated- what is this?
I am watching my diet (I do sometimes go over my calorie goals, but not often). I am walking a mile per day on days I am not doing C25K. I do W6D3 tonight, so I have been C25K for nearly seven weeks. I will walk my other path today for a 3/4 mile walk. I am being faithful to my plans to lose weight. I am not discouraged at…

Is Olympic Swimmer Leisel Jones Fat
This is a testament to society's obsession for stick-thin women. As a guy, I think loveliness comes in all shapes and sizes. I was appalled that this swimmer, who came in fifth in the breaststroke (this means she is the FIFTH BEST breaststroke swimmer IN THE WORLD, who has made four trips to the Olympics ( the only Aussie…

The Four C's
I was driven to write this after losing just .2 pounds this past week: The Four Cs of Weight Loss Ask a jeweler and he will readily tell you the “four Cs” of selecting a diamond: cut, clarity, color, and carat. Well, guess what, Weight Watchers members? Each of you is a diamond in the rough, and you have four Cs of your…

An NSV caught me off guard
When I turned around to wash my hands in the restroom, I saw my belt buckle in the mirror. I have not seen my belt buckle in the mirror (without moving my stomach out of the way) in a long time!

Two Nice NSVs
Today, on a lark, I tried on a pair of pants my wife bought for me over a year ago. When she first bought these, the button lacked 4 inches before it would even touch the button hole. Today, after just 9 weeks of really trying to lose weight, I was able to put them on and button them, without much difficulty! Mind you, and…

Having to drop out of running/jogging for a while.
I am bummed out. I have been having knee problems for a week and a half now. I am going to have to stop running so I can let it rest. I am going to look for a caloric burn via walking. BUT, today I walked 2 miles at lunch. Yep, my knee started giving out, but it lasted much longer, time and distance wise, than it does when…

The Mental/Psychological Aspect of Eating
I am allotted 2300 calories a day on MFP. In the last five weeks since I have been tracking my food, I have only gone over my allotment 7 days, and four of those were just barely over the limit. Several days, like yesterday for example, I go way under my allotment. I was 1300 under for the day yesterday. I don't try to go…

The "Need" to Run
First off, a little background on me: I am a BIG guy- I am at 345+/- right now, down from 357. So can someone explain what this means? Even though I finished Week 3 Day 3 of my 5K training regimen this morning, I ran again this evening. I have never felt the desire to run, ever. I felt it for the first time this evening.…

Three NSVs in one day!
NSV 1: I am wearing a shirt I was unable to wear just a year ago! It is an XXL, and the last time I tried to wear it (2 months ago), the belly of the shirt was very S T R E T C H E D around my stomach and chest. Now I have bit of slack in the belly area and chest. YAY!!!! NSV 2: My daughter and I went to Hardee's and I fit…

Pilates for Men?
I found a similar topic from June 6, but it isn't quite what I was looking for, so I am creating this one. First, what my question is NOT: I don't care about appearances. I am concerned about body mechanics and physiology because of the structural differences between men and women. What my question IS, is this: My wife has…

An Odd NSV
I noticed that my ankles are less swollen; where my lower legs join my ankle they have a more "tapered" look. I think what is happening is that I have increased my water intake. I learned recently that I have a sky-high sodium intake, although my circulating sodium levels have always been normal. I realized that my…

When will it really start becoming noticeable?
I have lost exactly 14 pounds as of my Weight Watchers weigh-in today. I started off at 357 and now I am at 343. I completely understand the fact that because I am so large at just 6' 0" that it will be while before my weight loss becomes noticeable. But how much more weight will I need to lose before it DOES become…

Halfway done with C25K!
I'm halfway done with C25K! I did Week 4, day 2, which is the exact half way point for the C25K program (I am doing the 9 week program). I ran a mile today at 3.3 mph, interspersed with 2/10 of a mile walking. For most people this is not a big deal, but I'd like to see them do it with 150 pounds tied to their backs! :) I…
