What does “kitten” mean on the threads?
I hope this isn’t a silly question. I’m new to MFP and I see members write about “kitten” or “kitten vibes” and I just don’t know what that’s means. Can someone explain? Thanks!

Are abs made in the kitchen?
I’ve read countless articles that say diet is 80% and exercise is 20% of the weight loss factor. There are even articles that say exercise is only 10%. How true is this? Have you lost weight without exercise? Are abs really made in the kitchen?

Cravings
How do you get rid of your cravings? Whether it’s physical or emotional. Last night and waking up this morning, I was craving giving-in to sweet cravings. I had a bottle of water instead and repeated the quote: “This too shall pass”. I need your help in this department. Thanks community!

Favorite inspiring/motivating quotes
What’s your favorite(s) inspiring quotes that motivate you to win, kill your eating and fitness game, take on the day, get through hard times, or simply just feel good, etc. A few of my favorites are: “This too shall pass.” “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the…

Has anyone tried acupuncture?
I am investing in my first acupuncture session tomorrow to help relieve depression, stress, tiredness, and weight control. Have you ever tried acupuncture? What was your experience with it? I am desperate to feel better. I tried an antidepressant and didn’t like how I felt. But I just feel so helpless lately. I hope the…

How did you motivate yourself to start exercising?
I used to be a fitness buff. I loved the gym! Then in 2016, I became complacent. In 2017, I became depressed and stopped the working out altogether. My body is pheening to move again, but I just can’t seem to motivate myself to get into the gym and start exercising. I gained about 30lbs and I am in the process of releasing…

Has anyone used Jenny Craig or frozen meals to get to goal
I used Jenny Craig a couple years ago and stuck with it for 6 months. I lost about 35lbs. I kept it off for about 9 months then fell back into old habits of emotional eating. I’m considering going back because the structure of frozen meals really helps with my nurse schedule. What are your thoughts on Jenny Craig? I will…

Emotional eating
My struggle. Emotional eating. I eat when I’m sad and worried or even just to detach myself from the stress of life (work, sick family member, lack of friends and family). Am I making excuses? I am being honest. How do I get out of this hole so I can move forward? How do I stop emotional eating? Thank you!

Went over my daily calorie goal. What do I do?
I am new to MFP. I’ve been on a 12 day streak and lost 5lbs. Yesterday, I just gave in to hunger. My calorie goal is 1200. I haven’t been exercising yet, because I have been exhausted and depressed from things going on at home/work. I can’t make this an excuse anymore and have to exercise for sanity. I am -2,350 calories…

“Red light foods”
Do you have certain “red light foods” you just say no to? What are they? I am all for flexible dieting, which is why I joined MFP. I wanted to learn how to plan foods I enjoy into my calories/life. At the same time, I’ve noticed since starting 12 days ago, I have been going over my sugar goal for the day. The thing is, as…

Guilt, forgiveness, weight loss, slips, binged
How do you forgive yourself for having a slip? I have been doing fantastic for 12 days straight. Lost 5lbs! Did not gravitate off my calorie goals and have been feeling like things are getting better for me. Then last night, I slipped. I am in the red -2400 calories for my day. I feel like a failure. Years of dieting has…

Success with CICO
Have you had success with CICO (Calories in, calories out) approach? Has it also helped you eat a balanced diet of what you enjoy- with no food off limits as long as it fits in your calories?

Constipation
I don’t mean to be TMI (too much information) but I since I cut back on the amount of calories I am eating, I have been getting a little more constipated. Does anyone have a solution? I drink a lot of water (and pee a ton) and eat fibrous foods. I do eat higher protein items though. I take a new probiotic that has…

Prayer Request 2
Prayer is a beautiful, as well as essential, way to ask for help and blessings. I feel it helps with health- emotionally and physically, weight loss, and goals. I wanted to make this a thread for prayer requests. It is a thread where you can write down whatever is ‘weighing you down’ or ‘weighing heavily on your heart’. Or…

Low calorie volume recipes
I found this awesome thread called Volume Eaters on MFP and I love it. I am new to the community, and appreciate the help so much. Can you share your low calorie or low calorie, high protein recipes please? I already found a few like the cauliflower oats, protein fluff, and protein angel food cake. Thank you!

I am new to MFP so just getting used to this forum. What is Imgur? I read in a thread that a members photos she posted on here ended up without her permission on Imgur. If we post photos on here, are they secure to the community only? Or if we post photos on our private wall, does it stay private? Thanks for the…

Do you track non-starchy vegetables?
I am new to MFP from former programs which used to consider non-starchy vegetables a free food or zero-point food, so I never weighed/measured or counted them. Do you track them or follow that kind of “they are free” principle? How has it affected your weight? I know that too much spinach didn’t get me 40lbs overweight!

How do you deal with emotional eating?
I am an emotional eater. How do you deal with cravings and emotional eating? I am new to MFP and hope this will help me eat a more balanced way- with no food off limits. “Good” verse “Bad” used to be big trigger for me. And stress. As a nurse, I especially have a lot of stress at work. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Former WW. Does MFP help with binges and balance?
I am new to MFP. I was on WW before, and the Points Program used to leave me feeling confused, obsessed, deprived, so I would binge by the end of the day. What prompted me to join MFP was on my birthday, I couldn’t eat cheesecake because it was 48 Points. So if I tracked calories, like on MFP, I could have fit it in my…

From WW to MFP
Hello! I am a WW member who wasn’t having success on the Points Program. I guess I am Old-School who thinks it’s all about calories. If you’re a WW or former WW member and would like to stay connected, add me and let’s help one another stay motivated. My username on WW Connect is the same as here, if you’re on and would…
