What does “kitten” mean on the threads?

I hope this isn’t a silly question. I’m new to MFP and I see members write about “kitten” or “kitten vibes” and I just don’t know what that’s means. Can someone explain? Thanks!

It's MFP's swear filter at work. Instead of making naughty words say **** or whatever, they change them to *kitten*3

MFP censor turns swears into kitten1

I don’t know what to kitten say. That’s funny! Thank you. I was stumped.6 -
Dont feel silly by the way, I remember when it became a thing and everyone was confused for a bit lol2
-
It started off as an April Fools joke and stuck around. I totally get the confusion, because it looks like an 'in' joke that EVERYONE is in on haahaa3
-
It means whatever the *kitten* you want!10

If Kitten is bad then CAT must be horrible to say ;-)

It's been other things, the first filter I remember noticing was *baby sloth*.
I sometimes now use kitten as an expletive in other places and people think I'm nuts.8 -
I shudder to think what would happen if they turned 'kitten' to 'kitty'?4
-
Hah, and here I thought the posters were using the term 'kitten' themselves.1
-
I do......but I always put <kitten> like that......so, if I were so inclined to say something like 'I don't give a <kitten>' then it would be clear what I was saying....without actually saying it.
I wonder if you get 'censored' too often does that create a kick this dude out situation?0 -

The software is matching against a list of words, so if you're clever you can make the same point by using your own inventions like nipploids and danglydoos and forking iceholes.11

@zachbonner your *kitten*ing annoys the *kitten* out of me!

I usually type *baby feline* instead because I'm just a sweet, innocent li'l ol' lady.3

It means whatever the *kitten* you want it to3
-
*kitten* *kitten* *kitten*0

Because it means whatever you want, yes, some posters self censor, or use it instead of a "bad word"... Interestingly enough, sometimes, the quote function will show what was actually typed.0

There's a place in the UK called Scunthorpe, I love it when filters change that...0
-
Which this one obviously doesn't.3
-
I'm glad you ask that question also. Cause I wanted to know, but didn't want to ask.1

Aah, I came to this thread via a google search for "What does kitten mean" which was inspired by seeing it used so pervasively in these forums. Thanks for the explanation.1 -
