The scale keeps going up even though I'm staying on track. What am I doing wrong?
I'm feeling very defeated. Back in 2011 I used MFP to successfully drop about 30 lbs. Then I kept it off for years but started to slack. So, now I have about 8 lbs to lose, not much. But this time it won't come off. I dropped refined sugar for the most part and am staying just under 1400 calories (my maintenance is 1640)…

Do you think milk is safe?
I went to a church dinner last night and sat at a table where the discussion was cows milk and how damaging it is. How it possibly causes cancer and should not be consumed by humans. How it's injected with cancer causing hormones. I had never heard any of this. The thing is...I like milk. I'm not intolerant of it and it's…

Does this happen to you too?
It's been about 2 years since I lost the weight and reached my goal, but still, every morning I wake up surprised to be in this body. My brain still thinks I'm the overweight person. When I shop for clothes I need to remind myself that I don't need to cover up those problem areas anymore. It's still so foreign to me. I…

Are you less sick?
One thing I've noticed since losing weight is that during flu/cold season I tend to get sick less often and when I do it lasts for only a short amount of time. Maybe I just lucked out and had a good year. But maybe not. Maybe it's all related to the changes I've made. How about you? Are you less sick since losing weight…

Lies that I used to tell myself...
Before I finally decided to get some gumption and actually change my diet and exercise and lose the extra weight I'd carried around for almost a decade, I told myself many lies. Here are a few... "After having a baby, my hip bones moved. That's why I wear a larger size pants now. It's not fat!" "If 60% of the population is…

Convince me that a plateau exists
I have so many friends on here that tell me about the plateaus they have hit along their weight loss journey. I'll admit to being a huge skeptic when it comes to most things and this is no exception. I'm carefully monitoring my MFP friends' activity and diet to be a support and accountability partner along the way. I see…

Body Fat % question
Has anybody ever actually done one of those hydrostatic (dunk tank) body fat tests? Did you think the results were accurate? I have a scale (EatSmart Precision GetFit Digital Body Fat Scale) that measures body fat but I'm not totally confident in it's accuracy. On one setting it will say I'm 16 % and on another it will say…

How long have you maintained? Inspire me!
It took me 5 months to reach my weight goal and cut my body fat % in half.. Now I've been maintaining for 3 months but it's very anticlimactic when the scale doesn't move. It's hard to stay motivated and some days I am even doubtful that I'll be able to stay at my goal weight. I'm concerned that I'll end up back where I…

Do you underestimate or overestimate your food?
One of my MFP friends says that whenever she goes to log food and finds multiple listings of something, she always picks the one that has the least amount of calories. This struck me as funny because when that happens to me, I always do the opposite and pick the one with the most amount of calories. I guess I want to "err…

When would you quit MFP?
So, when would you ever feel comfortable about quitting MFP? After you've reached your goals? Do you expect to do it forever or do you see an end in sight? Just curious. I've reached my goals and there are many days when I'm just so sick of logging. But, like a poor person who has crawled their way out of poverty, I'm…

What is your largest meal each day?
What, typically, is your largest meal each day? I've heard the phrase "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper". I never do this, however. I tend to eat a lighter breakfast and my lunch and dinners are about equal with snacks in between all meals. So, what do you do?

What is your body type?

Favorite workout DVD?
What is your favorite workout DVD? I'm looking for alternatives to the gym (since my kids get sick often and I can't drag them to childcare). I don't have a ton of money to spend.

If you could eat anything for a day and not gain any weight or have any negative health effects, what would you eat?

My current dilemma...temptation!
My current dilemma...not eating these: My 4 year old insisted we make peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. I've already caved and eaten 1 (281 calories...Yikes!!!) Get thee behind me Satan!!!

Who are you trying to look like?
Just curious. Is there a celebrity or person you are motivated to look like in your weight loss journey? I have a celebrity (Claire Danes) who's bone structure, height, and total lack of boobage kind of matches mine (if I was the size I should be), so I stuck her picture on my fridge. At first my husband thought it was…

water question
So, I've been trying to consume the 8 cups of daily water and I'm struggling. The issue is that typically I drink 2-4 cups of green tea, and also a cup of milk. So when I add all that liquid to the water intake, I have to pee all the time!!! Do you think I can count the cups of tea as an actual cup of water?
