Inspired to Ride - anyone else watch it yet?
I bought the movie Inspired to Ride and watched it last night. Wow! I was tired after watching it as if I had done some of the ride! It is about a group of people doing the almost 4300 mile non-supported ride across America. Check it out if you get a chance.

Fueling for long bike rides while staying low carb
So this may have been addressed in the past, but I couldn't find anything that really outlines what I'm looking for. I'm trying to figure out how to fuel properly for long bike rides (2-3 hours or more). Articles I've read say you should start with around 30g of carbs close to your ride start and then every hour you can…

Fat Bikes - trying to decide between spending money or saving money
So, I have been bitten by the Fat Bike bug. I currently ride a Cannondale Trail 7 29er, but want a fat bike for winter riding. I have 2 options at the moment. Option #1 - my buddy will sell me his Mongoose Dolomite for $200. He has made some upgrades like fixing the shifter (used to be grip but now is trigger). I'm sure I…

Roast Beef ideas
So I know I read on here somewhere how LCD people like to cook their roasts and I have one thawing in the fridge right now. My wife wants something different than the usual celery/potatoes/carrots version. I saw where some of you braise them or something. Please share me your favorite way to cook a roast! Thanks all!

Exercise Calories - to eat them, or not
So I have been exercising a lot more than I did at one time. Those who follow me know I started cycling recently and I've ridden quite a bit lately. One thing I've noticed is that ever since I ramped up the exercise, the weight loss has ground to a halt. I know I could be building some muscle and that might cause this blip…

Maybe this is a crazy idea...
I've been pretty unsatisfied with my current career path. I used to do something I loved but admittedly had I not been laid off in that field I was burning out and would have looked for something else anyways. I have been putting thought in to what I could do as a career change and am really thinking about something in the…

Simplified September - Week 1
Ok all, I know I'm new here and all, but I really like the idea of what this group is all about and really want to keep it going. That being said: I like the idea of baby steps or getting back to basics or keeping it simple. I think we all try to bite of more than we can chew by making too many goals at once. A few days…

Low Carb eating at a sushi restaurant - advice?
So next week I know that some friends and I will be meeting at a sushi bar for lunch and of course there seem to be tons of carbs in sushi. Any items or suggestions for keeping my carbs to 30ish for one meal at a sushi restaurant? I know I need to avoid rice. Looking at their menu now to see what other options there are…

Anaerobic Zone?
So I've been sick with a respiratory infection and today I decided I felt good enough to try to get back on my bike. Well it was probably not my best idea as it was about 95 degrees out and I had to turn around at the 2 mile marker and head back. I was only out 32 minutes, but they were the hardest 32 minutes of my…

A question about ZUCCHINI NOODLES
So I have a secret. I hate all forms of pasta. I don't like the smell or the texture, it makes me gag. That being said I keep hearing about zucchini noodles and am wondering if I might like these. Has anyone made them? Are they slimy like pasta or more on the crunchy side? Anyone have a good recipe on how to make them (the…

Cauliflower Rice
Anyone try making cauliflower rice yet? I tried it last night and I gotta say I really like it! Lower in the carbs (1 cup is about 5 carbs vs. 44 carbs for white rice) and also lover in calories (1 cup is about 27 calories vs. 205 calories in white rice). It take some time to make and causes a mess. I went ahead and…

Roll Call! Just seeing who has been able to find the group after the forum change
Not loving the new forum, but I can't let that sidetrack me! I am trying to tap back into this great resource. This T2D community has been a great source of motivation and information for me. Anyway - who all is here? Happy Monday!

NSV of the day
I only just recently learned what the term NSV means (Non Scale Victory) and thought it might be fun, encouraging and inspiring to start a thread here for us to share our NSV of the day. For me, today I was able to wear a new pair of size 40 pants I bought over the weekend at Costco. This represents several NSV's for me.…

Blood Pressure Meds and Weight Loss
So I plan to go to the doctor tomorrow, but I've noticed lately as the weight has come off that I get dizzy when I stand up or get up from the ground. I take blood pressure medicine (Lisonopril) and am wondering if with the changes I've made maybe I'm due for a reduction in BP meds. Those of you that have worked your way…

Goals and Rewards
So I am trying to come up with Goals and Rewards. Goals seem to be easy. I am trying to hit 10% goals which makes the over all goal seem much more obtainable. My problem is in the rewards. I am trying to avoid rewarding myself with anything food related (for example eating a meal without logging, or a meal at a favorite…

Fave Fast Food Low Carb Meals
So I tend to almost never eat at home. We have a busy lifestyle so I have to make healthy choices on the go almost every day. I've learned where I can eat the best and still enjoy the food. I'd love to hear from all of you on what you've found as you dine out - especially at Fast Food restaurants! Today I just discovered…

Restaurant Nutrition Calculators
I mentioned in another post that I love restaurants that go to the trouble to post up a nutrition calculator. I thought it would be nice to have a reference for us to have handy with as many of these links as possible. Here are some I've already found - please add to the thread with any you have found. Panda Express -…
