The Estrogen Window: Anyone read it?
I downloaded it from the Library. I'm about 1/2 through it. He makes a good case for using low dose estrogen with bioidentical progesterone just after menopause. I'm still pondering. I'm using progesterone now. He claims using low dose estrogen just as menopause hits has MANY protective qualities that far out weigh the…

Any thoughts on adjusting our BMI expectations for POST menopause?
My obgyn has said, twice, that a post menopausal woman NEEDs to have some padding. I've recently been reading up on BMI and osteoporosis, BMI and bone density, BMI and hip fractures....good times. I'm now wondering if my preferred 22BMI is too low now.....

Cholesterol and estrogen
Now that I'm pretty well transitioned from peri- to meno I'm reading up on estrogen loss and cholesterol (and the rise of LDL cholesterol specifically). I'm more committed than ever to eating more fiber rich whole plant foods (including more avocados), wild caught fatty fish, and high quality whole grains. And, I'm…

Stur water enhancer
If you like water enhancers (or sugar free fruit flavor to add to green smoothies to taste fruity), these are pretty good. https://www.amazon.com/Stur/b/ref=bl_dp_s_web_6886756011?ie=UTF8&node=6886756011&field-lbr_brands_browse-bin=Stur I do add to water, but also to green smoothies.

yoga
I've now been doing yoga "regularly" (3 or more times a week) for about 6 months. I switched from weight lifting after 20 years to yoga, and kept doing Pilates 2-3 times a week. I firmly believe the addition of yoga has made all the difference in the world for my menopause symptoms. I'm trying to eat a whole food, mostly…

Go to convenience foods?
If you know me, this is an odd post. Bear with me. Disclaimer: SLOW carb, not LOW carb here. If we're "pals" on here, you know I've had a hell of a week, and you know hubs is out of town, and I'm taking care of a recuperating puppy. I knew all this was coming, and shopped accordingly. On a whim I bought 2 atkins frozen…

yogis: what pose(s) do you struggle with the most and do you have goals for working toward them?
For me it's Wheel. http://embodyphysicaltherapy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/IMG_5817.jpg For the life of me, I can't get there. My instructor and I both know I have the strength, but there's something about the back flexibility I don't yet have. Working on it! Also working on side plank with my leg up. I can pretty…

Are we there yet??? swelling....
Menopause, the gift that keeps on giving. If you've been at this a while, you may have noticed that symptoms come and go, only to return again. My latest re-returns: irritability, bloating/water retention, and OHMYGOD breast swelling and tenderness. I've tried all the tried and true remedies that I know of: (evening…

Very yummy, much more potato tasting than radish tasting. YUM Going to try different recipes, including adding rosemary!
