Low sucrase levels?
Was told by the nurse of my son's GI doc that he has low sucrase levels (the enzyme that digests sucrose) and to put him on a "no added sugar" diet. The phone call was short and I didn't ask enough questions. In my oh so technical review of the google literature, I have found that he should not really be eating ANY????…

Seriously? I'm supposed to eat 2000 calories????
OK....I have a fitbit and I work out 2X a day (30 day shred in the morning and 30 minutes of cardio over lunch). I'm 5'2" and currently 142 lbs at approximately 26-27% BF. I'm set up at the standard 1200 calories per day and then the exercise and the fitbit calories get added on to that. When they all get added up, most…

STAGE1 Maxing out on weights
OK ladies...I have 2 problems going on in Stage1 that I am looking for some advice on: 1) Push-ups: I have always been able to do "big girl" push ups and now I am doing 12 reps alternating with a 12 pound hexagonal weight in each hand and rotating up (the hardest one in the book). deadlifts are bad for you?
A personal trainer at my gym told me I shouldn't be doing deadlifts because everybody who does them has crappy form and I'm just asking for an injury. She told me (and I quote) "there are other ways for 'women' to strengthen their back". She had a couple of other things to say about women bulking up with weightlifting that…

HELP NROLFW and half marathon training
So, I was asked by a friend to train with her for a half marathon. I wanted to start Stage 1 on Monday. I'm a decent runner (not a beginner) and have done 2 half marathons in the past (2 kids and 15 pounds ago). Has anyone done both? Did you feel like your training (either one) suffered because of it? Thanks!

NROLFW!!--Anyone do it WITHOUT a gym?
I have a free gym at work...but it only has hand weights...no barbells or pull up bar. I hate to fork over $$ when I have this free option and it's right down the hallway (I can go over lunch). Tell me it's possible........

Milwaukee Area Body fat testing
Just thought I'd share a resource. The prices look reasonable if you want an accurate body fat percentage. I'm going to be making my appointment very soon! http://www4.uwm.edu/chs/pahrl/services_descriptions.cfm

Body fat testing? Should I get an "official" number?
I've definitely jumped on the bandwagon that I want to get a a certain body fat percentage rather than a number on the scale. So, I have a Tanita scale that gives me a BF%. I've been reading more and more how inaccurate these can be.... I found a local university that will do it. They offer multiple methods: 1) calipers…
