Rethinking being a vegetarian - my experience
Well as of today after 10 years of being a lacto-ovo vegetarian, I ate meat for the first time. I started 10 years ago as part of a health kick or was it the vegetarian girlfriend? - I actually cant remember. Anyway, the health kick ended a long time ago, the relationship ended a long time ago, but the vegetarian thing…

Who needs a personal trainer when you have a toddler ...
Hi I thought I would share a story.... I just started doing P90X over the last few days. My 3 year old toddler woke up this morning walked in the room and saw daddy jumping around to plyometrics and then she goes "good boy daddy - you are doing it". She then grabbed her own little chair and started doing leg swings as…

Massive exercise calorie deficit and gained weight

So I wake up the next day and wonder what the net impact of yesterday was and…

Sugar and sodium intake
Hi, I am currently aiming to loose about 1.5 lbs per week, and I average around 1.3 lbs per week. I figure part of the reason about the difference is probably in the measuring for food sizes (I dont use cups and scales), and around estimating calorie expenditure (I dont use a fitbit or bodymedia type device). So I am…

I will do the easy one - 2/3 of low carb protein shake (79 cals) and a side salad (30 cals) for a total of 109 cals.…

Under reporting in your food diary
i was watching this show on diets last night and they were talking about under reporting your food calories. They gave this woman who complained her diet was not working doubly labelled water DLW. DLW is a marker used by a lab to track your actual food intake. She also recorded her food intake in a diary. After a month her…

Rapid vs. Gradual weight loss
the MFP defaults recommend gradual weight loss at about a pound a week. I was just reading an article about rapid vs gradual weight loss, which says that we basically have a window of about 6 months before we loose motivation and that those who are more aggressive (not to the unhealthy extreme) about their weight loss are…

Advice for a frequent flyer
Hi, Is anyone out there a frequent flyer? I notice that every time I go on a work trip (which is sadly a weekly event for me and some times three or four times a week) my weight goes up even when i keep inside my calories and when I am home my weight goes down. My gut feel is the restaurant and function food has many more…
