Winter Break Challenge
I decided to make a small change to my daily routine- nothing too extensive, so it's easy for me to fit in every day. I made a challenge for myself over winter break (basically now through mid-January) to work my way up from 25 to 50 squats, side leg lifts, calf raisers, and push ups (against the wall for me since I've got…

Before and During- what a difference!
I was browsing through some of my old pictures on FB, and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I guess when I was at my highest weight, I never realized how big I was. I don't know my weight in the before picture- this was almost a year before joining MFP! But I'd estimate 220-230, which is something I never even IMAGINED…

No Longer Obese!
I've been on this weight loss journey for about 7 months now. It's been slow going, but I've been making steady progress. I just calculated my BMI, and I'M NO LONGER OBESE!! My BMI is back below 30. I can't even remember the last time I was in the overweight category. I'm so happy!

Timex Zone Trainer HRM
I just bought the Zone Trainer and used it for the first time at the gym today. I worked out for 30 minutes before I became so confused and unsure about my workout that I just gave up. I was on an elliptical (not sure which brand) and the elliptical and HRM gave me the same reading for my HR, but drastically different…

NEED HELP! HRM, FitBit, Fuelband, something else?
I've been thinking for quite a while now about getting something to help keep track of my calorie burn throughout the day. I need something accurate! Unfortunately, I know nothing will ever be really accurate and that every different brand has its flaws. But I still want to find the best one for me! I've been looking at…

FitBit v. Striiv
I posted a few days ago about choosing a HRM and a fitbit, or something like it. Well, I decided on a HRM that's not crazy expensive and got pretty good reviews on Amazon. But now, I still need something to track my daily activities. I can't decide between the fitbit and the Striiv! Both have really good things about them,…

Elliptical and HR? How Do I Get a Good Workout?
I just can't seem to master the elliptical! When I started using it, I was on effort level 2 and my heart rate was through the roof, but I was moving a lot and I could feel the muscle burn in my legs. Now, a couple months later, after using the elliptical on and off (mostly skipping the gym altogether... oops!) I have a…

Need new sneakers!
I've had the same sneakers for about 3 years now, and they're getting holes in them! So, I need a new pair, but I'm not sure what kind to get. The kind I have now are designed for walking, but I'm starting couch to 5K, and would like shoes designed for running. I also need them to work in the gym (I'm usually on the…

how to drink more water?
I've noticed since i started tracking my food that I just don't seem to be getting enough water. Strangely enough, a few weeks ago, before I joined MFP, it was like I couldn't STOP drinking water (to the point where I thought I was developing diabetes)!!! I know I should be getting at least 8 glasses, but I usually make it…

what to do about sugar cravings?
I've been on here for about 2 and a half weeks, and I'm starting to get sugar cravings. I've been pretty good about staying under my calorie goal, but it's been getting harder and harder to stay away from the foods I used to eat! What can I do to beat the cravings? Are there any recipes that taste really sweet, or just…

METs?
I just did a workout from self magazine- the "Kickstart to Sexy" workout with the kettlebell. Does anyone know how many METs that is? I was working pretty hard, so I think it's up there, but I'm not sure. I want to be able to get an accurate calorie count.

Protein shakes/meal replacements
I'm pretty busy during the week, and I don't have much time between school and work to eat something that's really going to last for the ~4-5 hours between meals (dinner on those days is usually cereal- I've only got about 15 minutes to eat before I'm off to class again). I can't eat snacks or anything like that at work,…

How to get serious?
I just joined a couple days ago. I've been on and off diets for most of my life (even during childhood) and nothing has ever stuck. I've been overweight my whole life, but in the past few months to a year I managed to become obese. Though my weight has steadily increased over the years, it really went up when I started…
