What to do during recovery
I'm ten days post op for an open umbilical hernia repair and allowed to resume some exercise. Before the op I'd got in to stronglifts and made reasonable progress (Squat 50kg/OHP 22.5kg/row 37.5kg/bench 32.5kg/dead 60kg) and everything I had read was that I would be able to return to using light weights after the ten days,…

Excuse me
So I've got up to 3 sets of 10 reps with 80lb (heavy for me and going up to 90lb next week) on the lat pulldown and need a couple of minutes rest between sets. I prefer active recovery, so I'll get up and walk around a little in the same area, leaving my towel, water bottle and notebook on the floor next to the seat. Both…

Loving Lifting
So I'm slowly incorporating compound lifts in to my routine, adding one of the big 5 a week and then adding a "paltry" 2.5kg to the bar each session. I started with squats, working up from a 10kg bar to a 20kg bar and then adding weight so I'm now up to the grand total of 27.5kg (including the bar). Then I added in dead…

C25K question
So I completed Week 3 Day 3 this morning and although I have managed to complete each of the jogs, I'm still very out of breathe at the end of the 3 minute jogs. I'm due to start Week 4 on Monday, but I'm a nervous at the big jump in running/jogging time. So do I push on to Week 4 and see if I can manage, or do I repeat…

C25K
So after a few months of using C25K on the treadmill walking faster rather than running, this morning saw me getting up at 6am and jogging for the first time ever. It may well have been the slowest jog ever and I was well and truly puffed at the end of each minute's jog, but I completed the full half hour. Can see myself…

Why would I want to do that?
So I started this journey in November at 289.5lb (5'1" Female) and just over three months later 41lb down and at under 250lb people are starting to comment on my weight loss, on how well I'm doing, what diet am I following and that I should give low carb a try to lose even quicker. Not sure how to answer them, for one…

Mmmm
So with today being a very active day with a 5km round trip walk to the gym, 1.5 hours mix of cardio and weight training plus the the usual school run of 2.5km, Fitbit has added 1602 calories to my 1680 goal for the day. Just finished my dinner (rather yummy chicken and rice), have obviously had lunch and breakfast along…

I want to run but...
A little background. I'm a 44 year old woman, bit of a shortar$e at 5'1", weighing in at 252.2lb (down from 289.5). I walk 7 days a week and weight train 2-3 times a week. Blood pressure, sugar etc is all normal but I am hypermobile with an athritic shoulder. When I last saw my doctor 15lb back he told me I shouldn't go…

So which is right?
Hi, I've just finished 55mins on the treadmill, which says that I burnt just over 200Calories, which I know isn't accurate. MFP estimates the same exercise session as 299Calories, but my HRM (One Body with chest strap) says 675. Just so you know I'm 218lb, 5'1" with very short legs, meaning that much faster than 5.5km/hr…

Can you eat too little salt?
Hi, As I don't add salt to my food either when cooking or after and eat a lot of home cooked foods, I'm consistantly coming 1000-2000 below my salt target. Am I fine or should I be adding more salt into my diet, I'm genuinely confused. Thanks

Small steps hopefully leading to bigger steps
Hi I just wanted to share a little victory I experienced today. I'm one of those people that has to clear their plate (even if I don't actually like the food), possibly due to having it ingrained in me as a child. But today I was tucking into baked cod and wholewheat pasta, started to feel full and actually left food on my…
