General Vent - Plexus
My step-daughter is on the Plexus bandwagon and constantly posts on Facebook all its miraculous results. This morning she is stating that the back pain she has had ever since giving birth a year ago is now gone, thanks to Plexus. That makes absolutely no sense! Also, it supposedly cures low blood pressure, high blood…

Insomnia and Probiotics
Lately I've really been suffering from insomnia. (It's been an on-off issue my entire adult life.) My step-daughter suggested I take a probiotic before bed that she says has really helped her insomnia more than ambien, melatonin, etc. So, I bought a bottle yesterday and took the probiotic with my evening meal. I also took…

When someone's lack of faith increases your desire ...
My only child (daughter) is going to college in a couple of weeks. She says I won't see her until Thanksgiving (which I really don't believe since her college is so close, but nonetheless). I mentioned to her that maybe I'd use that time to buy new clothes, get a good haircut, start getting more serious about losing…

I will only buy clothes when ...
I hate to admit that I'm wearing these same old t-shirts, sweat shirts, and sweat pants because I won't allow myself to buy new clothes until I weigh XX. Well, I've been saying that for years! And then when I do force myself to go out and buy something better to wear, I just don't make the effort to "put myself together"…

If every day was like today ... In 5 weeks you'd weigh ...
MFP might tell me I'd weigh 156.5 in 5 weeks "if every day was like today" but for some reason when I have "every day like today" for 5 weeks, I end up weighing 156.4. Something's not working here. It sucks to be on the other side of 50 where nothing seems to work. Tomorrow's another day.

OMG The sodium in egg drop soup ...
Well, I got an education tonight. Thought I would only eat egg drop soup while my family had Chinese entrees. Calories were fine. Sodium was not. I'll probably be up another 2 pounds tomorrow. Oh, and then I had an egg roll. And then I had a crab rangoon. And then I had a spring roll. Sure glad I didn't buy myself an…

Trying to "get healthy" and not making progress
Aside from wanting to drop some weight (at a faster progress than I am apparently able to do!) I mainly wanted to improve my health. I started back on MFP about 8 weeks ago and have dropped close to 8 pounds, with 4 pounds the first week, so losing at about 1/2 pound a week after the 1st week. 8 weeks ago my dr. told me I…

Mexican food will be the death of me!
Had a great result on the scale this morning ... then my daughter wanted Mexican for lunch. Went to Jose Peppers and *could have* had the chicken tortilla salad, which I love. But no, had the Monterey chicken burrito platter instead and ate most of it. So after lunch, I'm already over my calorie limit for the day and have…

Isogenix -- what am I getting myself into?
Been really frustrated with the slow weight loss, and saw my dr. today who also agreed that I'm plodding along too slowly and suggested increasing Metformin to twice a day. Lo and behold, on the very day I'm frustrated with my dr. visit, my neighbor posts on Facebook her miraculous results with Isogenix and how she's never…

Frustrated!
So I looked at my "progress" thus far. The first week I lost 4 pounds, but in the past 36 days (slightly over 5 weeks) I have lost only 3.4 pounds. It takes me roughtly 12-15 days to lose a pound. Okay, I know that's 1/2 pound a week, but geez, really? I don't "cheat". It seems like a whole lot of effort with very little…

Using a foam roller for my back and my stomach's sore!
I sit at my computer a lot ... and I have hard wood floors and stand in the kitchen when not sitting at my computer. So, my back pain was getting out of hand and I thought I'd try a foam roller. First, it took a bit of coordination initially to get it placed under my back so I could "walk" it up and down. It sort of hurt…

Throwing money away on medical weight loss program?
At my last physical, I asked my family doctor if he could prescribe me something for weight loss (I am about 30-40 pounds overweight, 55 years old, 5'3"). He referred me to an internist/group who he said accomplished great things with several of his patients. I was pumped, but couldn't get in for 60 days. So, my first…

Little progress at the start of my journey
So I am trying to be patient. I have been on MFP for 2 weeks (I know, only 2 weeks). I have walked at 3.5 mph for over an hour every day. I have also swam a bit here and there. I am set up on the 1200 calorie plan to "lose 2 pounds a week". I have tracked every single thing for 2 weeks, never went over the 1200 limit.…

Weight loss estimates don't make sense!
Okay, MFP has me on a 1200 calorie per day plan to lose 2 pounds a week. My TDEE numbers are around 1685 calories a day ... so if I do no exercise, the deficit of eating only 1200 calories a day means I will create a weekly deficit of 3395 calories ... not quite a pound a week. Now let's say I burn 200 calories a day with…
