Calories for stand up paddleboard (SUP)?
I own a stand up paddleboard and am hoping to start paddling twice a week or so. SUP isn't listed as one of MFP's cardio exercises. For now I've been using the "paddleboating" category, but does anyone have experience with this and know if a different activity would be more comparable? I know calorie burn has a lot of…

Logging daily walk?
Hi all, I work at a university and am too cheap to buy an on-campus parking pass, so I start and end my day work day with a very brisk 15-minute walk (a little more than a mile). Any thoughts on whether I should log this as exercise, or should I factor it into my everyday activity level? Right now I have myself as…

bikram yoga
I'm trying bikram (hot) yoga for the first time this afternoon. A calculator on everydayhealth.com says I'll burn 885 calories in 90 minutes...is this for real? Anybody know of any other good ways to calculate calories burned, since MFP doesn't have a category for this? I'm kind of intimidated by the thought of doing yoga…

What the.... ?
I haven't been logging for the last few weeks because it's just too embarrassing. We're talking microwave breakfast sandwiches (sodium!), snickers and coke from the vending machine for lunch (sugar!), french fries for dinner (fat!). Zero exercise. I have no excuses, and I feel completely gross. Stepped on the scale for the…

lose vs. loose
Hey all, Please excuse me while I put on my nerd glasses and get out my red pencil. I used to be a copy editor, so even though I love reading these success boards, one thing repeatedly gives me the blues. Here we talk so much about losing weight, but many people make an easy mistake when spelling the word "lose"! Just…

running incorrectly?
Over the last couple months I've gone from being able to run .2 miles (yes that decimal point is in the right spot...less than a quarter mile!) to last week jogging 6.25 without stopping. But the last couple times I've run, the outside part of my left foot (it feels like maybe the bone running up to my pinky toe) has hurt…

students--how do you do it? help!
It's two weeks until the end of the semester, and my food diary goes something like this: pasta, beer, pasta, dr. pepper (x2), beer, pasta, NUTELLA NUTELLA NUTELLA. Am I the only one who goes carb/sugar crazy whenever a paper deadline approaches? Starting to think I shouldn't even bother logging my calories until mid-May…

5 miles and a SMILE
Just jogged 5 miles without stopping! Still kind of can't believe it. Even back in high school when I was in pretty good shape I could never seem to do distance...just thought I was "not a runner." Tonight I took it slow, kept going, and voila! Who knows...maybe there's a runner inside all of us waiting to bust out?

hello hello
Hi all, I'm Claire. I joined the site a while back but have only been using it regularly for the past 5 days or so. Loving it so far...I've always tried to eat healthily (for the most part at least), but having all calorie/nutrition info in one place has been a real eye-opener. And suddenly I've started going to the gym or…
