Treasure Trek?
Anyone else who's trying the Treasure Trek app on the Ionic? I can't find anything that tells how it works, is there a "How To Play" somewhere?

Wrist monitors and shopping carts
Went shopping yesterday, and I realized my Ionic wasn't counting my steps because I was pushing a shopping cart around instead of swinging my arms as I walked. I wound up doing an awkward one-handed push, having to bring my Ionic hand up whenever I needed to maneuver or turn, and I suspect at least a third of my steps…

Which Walk do you choose, and why?
I've done both the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, and the Breast Cancer 3-Day. I'm trying to decide which one to sign up for next year. I'm leaning towards the Avon Walk -- I like the more even distribution of miles on the 3-Day, but I don't know that I can raise the higher total for it in this economy, and the "Susan G.…

The Tomorrow People
Okay, first off, am I the only one here who used to watch the old series from the 70s? I so wanted to be able to jaunt! Second, did anyone catch the remake on the CW last night? I thought they did a pretty good job, not quite what I would have envisioned in a couple of ways but a decent revival. S p o i l e r s Love that…

Most interesting exercise you've done lately?
I spent at least four hours each Sunday, Tuesday, and Saturday learning and practicing blacksmithing. Yup, heating chunks of metal in a forge and then hitting them with a heavy hammer, heating them up and bending them and twisting them artistically, sticking glowing metal into water and watching it burst into steam. It's…

Reading Apprentice Adept series
I discovered my local library has a new source for eBooks, and among the new ones was "Split Infinity" by Piers Anthony. I had read this series many, many years ago when it first came out, and I'm really enjoying re-reading it now. Anyone else remember this? It's split between two versions of the world, Photon in which…

The Hobbit
Okay, no one has started one on this yet....what did everyone think of The Hobbit? Did you see it in 2D or 3D? Did the 48fps seem weird? Did you like the new info from the Appendices or did you think it was padded and slow? Or had you never read the book?

NSV - unusual one :-)
Went to a steampunk event, and discovered that my Victorian corset is now meeting in the back. For those of you who have never worn one, there's supposed to be a gap between the sides in the back where you lace it up, so that it can be pulled tightly -- if there's no gap, then you can't tighten it any further. I thought…

Did Making Strides last weekend!
I couldn't make it to the 3-Day or the Avon Walk this year, so I decided to go ahead and do the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. It was Sunday, and it was a lot of fun! Not the challenge that the multi-day walks are, but then, I haven't been doing all the training I do for those, so it still left me with sore feet to…

Welcome to the Walkers group!
I have been a Walker in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer twice, and the Breast Cancer 3-Day once. I also walked in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, although that's a much shorter event. I was by no means thin for any of these Walks. I just decided that I wasn't going to put my life on hold waiting for "when I've lost…

Anyone who's kept it off 2 year or more?
We all know it's relatively easy to lose weight on a new diet. Most dieters have lost hundreds of pounds in their lifetimes. The real trick is to lose the weight and *keep* it off! So, I'd love to hear from anyone who's lost a significant amount of weight and kept it off for two years or more. Anyone? I need some…

Could someone explain HRM please?
I've seen a lot of references to using a heart rate monitor to determine calories burned. Many seem to feel it's one of the most accurate measures of calories burned. But your heart rate can go up or down for a lot of reasons! Do you burn more calories if you've had a cappuccino than if you don't? Do you burn calories…

This can't be right -- water aerobics vs swimming
I'm going to go do water aerobics tomorrow, and was curious about how many calories it's likely to burn. Looked it up in the database, and then looked at swimming.... 60 min Swimming laps, freestyle, light/moderate effort: 887 calories 60 min leisurely swim: 761 calories 60 min water aerobics: 507 calories Okay, water…

Taking off breading
Even when not dieting, I've never liked as much breading as often comes on things like chicken sandwiches or chicken fingers. I usually peel as much off as I can. Sometimes that's all of it, sometimes it's half or less. KFC lists their chicken both as it comes and with the skin and breading removed. Almost no one else does…

When menu calories don't add up....
Went to a charity event at Dave & Buster's Gold Coast last night. I had been under on calories all week, planning on going over for the occasion. I have no problem logging an "over" day, but figuring out the actual calories is often a pain when eating out. I ordered the Teriyaki Steak (8 oz) with fries instead of garlic…

Over by a thousand calories, and it's okay!
Sort of a self-support message here. I've been using MFP for almost a month now. Yesterday, I had an unplanned splurge, and ate about a thousand calories above my goal. It started after midnight before going to bed, and carried on into too much food during the rest of the day, too. And today I went to a favorite Chinese…
