Apple Watch Users - Workout App vs. Others
Hey everyone. So I've just purchased an Apple Watch and it's a bit overwhelming! For those of you that have one already, how do you feel about the Workout app? Specifically, I'm trying to decide if I should use this instead of Endomondo for walks/runs. In the past, I used Endomondo to keep track of walks or runs. I do not…

Considering an Apple Watch - Thoughts?
I think I want an Apple Watch, but I wanted to get some opinions on MFP integration from anyone who's already bought one. I currently have a Fitbit One that has worked really well for me for 6 or 7 years now, along with a Polar A300 w/chest strap that I use for aerobic exercise only. I let Fitbit sync with MFP for steps,…

Polar FT40 on the fritz - Considering A300 vs. FT7???
To start, I've had my FT40 for over 2 years now. I've taken good care of it, etc., but the battery needed replaced a couple of months ago. Since then, I've barely had a single workout where it worked correctly. And it's definitely not a problem with the strap. It's not that it reads incorrectly, the watch itself completely…

Silly Question - Weighing Raw Eggs
I weigh most everything, but to this point I haven't weighed eggs. I'm not really too keen to start, but I'm wondering, do you crack the egg before you weigh it? I feel like this is the dumbest question ever because I'm pretty sure that yes, obviously, you weigh it without the shell for accuracy. But that would be enough…

Can you use a heart rate monitor for walking?
Okay, so I know you should only use a HRM for sustained aerobic exercise, right? Does walking count? I mean fairly brisk walking, on real terrain, etc. Or will that overestimate my calorie burn?

You can't build muscle at a calorie deficit? Why lift??
I keep seeing people say you cannot burn fat and build muscle. In other words, if you're "dieting" (eating at a calorie deficit), you cannot build muscle. So my dummy question for today then is, why lift weights at all? I am overweight and need to lose AT LEAST 50 pounds. I also want to be more all around fit. I am not…

Am I obsessed with dieting? Is that really all that bad???
Sorry, this one is a little long... People close to me are starting to think I'm a little obsessed with diet and exercise. And maybe I am. So what? I don't feel obsessed. I feel FOCUSED. I'm really sick of people saying things like "oh, one cookie won't hurt." They're right, one cookie won't hurt. And I've certainly had my…

Lifting at Home - What to buy?
Okay, so I've Googled myself into oblivion on this topic and still can't figure out what I want/need. Hopefully you guys can help. For the time being, I'm not interested in joining a gym. It's a matter of time more than anything, so I strongly prefer working out at home. In the past, the only lifting I've done has been…

Never Really Lifted Before...
So I keep seeing everyone talk about how important it is to lift weights. Okay, I give in and I believe all of you! However, I've never lifted before other than doing Body Pump type classes. My question is, does this sort of thing count? Or do I need to get to know weightlifting fitness equipment? This is really new…

Fitbit, exercise, calories. I am so confused! Help!
I thought I had this pretty much down, but after reading some of these threads I'm beginning to wonder if I'm doing it all wrong. MFP has calculated my daily calories as 1440. I put that I'm sedentary, want to lose 1 pound per week, and I workout 6 days a week for 25 minutes a day. I also wear my Fitbit all day every day.…

Carbs Slowing Down Weight Loss?
I have been almost perfect sticking to my 1200 calories, exercising vigorously at least 4 times per week, yadda yadda yadda, and although I'm losing, it's a lot slower than I feel it should be. Never more than one pound per week. Often less. It consistently goes down, so it's slowly adding up, but still. My goal is 1.5…
