Does anyone swim to lose weight?
I joined the 100 Mile Club at my gym yesterday and it starts on July 1st. The idea is to swim at least 2 miles a week (66 lengths, or 33 laps= 1 mile) to swim 100 miles in a year. I plan to swim at least 1 mile every day I have off work (which is about 3 miles per week). I swam a mile yesterday just to see if I could do it…

When should you stop eating for the day?
How long before bed do you stop eating for the day? I have read that you shouldn't eat anything after 8 pm because your body can't metabolize it before you go to sleep. My problem is that I'm often up late because I work evenings (usually not getting home til 1 am) and go to bed around 2 am most nights. If I don't eat…

A Little Goes a Long Way!
Of confidence, that is. A: 26 yrs H: 5'8" SW: 206.0 lbs CW: 197.3 lbs GW: 135.0 lbs Before I started on my weight loss journey (including the nearly 2 years I was on and off the wagon with no success) I avoided cameras like the plague. If someone did manage to capture me, I almost never faced the camera. I had no…

I need help!
I don't workout as much as I should, and I know that, I'm working on it. But I must be doing something wrong because I keep gaining and losing the same 5 lbs and I can't seem to get out of this funk! I've been really bad this week with eating out and the Easter candy, but even when there aren't any sweets and I eat at home…

Restaurants and Losing Weight
As a fast-food-aholic I've been very careful these last two weeks to not put myself in the position to eat food away from home. Tonight I am going out with my grandma for dinner. I made sure to do an extra workout today and I have allotted 900 calories for dinner. I'm looking for suggestions for eating out that still allow…

Restaurant NSV!
I've been a "loser" for about 2 weeks now and today was my first time at a restaurant since I started. Of course everyone picked a Chinese food buffet. I had 2 glasses of water (NO SODA!) and only two plates of food, the second was a salad. AND I skipped the desserts all together. I don't know why I struggled so much…

CALORIE HELP PLEASE!!!
Can someone please explain to me how to determine the number of calories eaten/burned ratio to support healthy weight loss (1-2 lbs/week) using your BMR? I don't think the numbers I have been given are correct.

Started yesterday!
I started the C25K program yesterday. I was really surprised with my ability to not only keep up, but to finish without taking a break! I tried to start last summer but gave up entirely after only 8 minutes. I'm really excited to push on and I hope to use this program to aid in my weight loss journey. Question: What do you…

Started C25K tonight, looking for "running" buddies!
I'm really interested in "learning how to run." My husband has always been a runner and used to compete in marathons, but I was born with hip dysplasia and was told I'd never be able to run properly. I've used that as an excuse pretty much my whole life, but not anymore! I am going to run, damnit! I knocked out 1.889 miles…

5'8", 198 lbs. Goal of 135-155. Motivation help?
Any 5'8" girls out there fall between 135-155 and want to share some pics with me?? I need some motivation. :D

NSV!!!
Stats: HT: 5'8" SW: 206 CW: 198.6 GW: 135 This might not seem like much to some people, but it is a HUGE success for me. I've always been an over eater. It started when I was a kid and my mom would make me sit at the table until every bite was gone. Maybe that's an excuse, maybe not. I hate leaving empty places on my…

Any 20 something ladies with 50 lbs to lose?
I need friends to help me stay motivated. I need to lose about 50 lbs. Currently 5'8" 201 lbs. Down 5 lbs from 206 SW. I got down to 177 over the summer, but got lazy and gained most of it back. Feel free to add me!

I hate Pants. Pants are stupid.
That is how I feel today. Yesterday I put on a pair of pants to go to work, size 17. Today I put on a pair of pants to go to work, size 12. How the heck are you supposed to know what size you truly wear if they vary that much?? One of my goals is to get back into single digit pants, but I'm not sure how I'm going to really…

Daily Calorie Deficit?
I'm 26 years old, 5'8" and 190 lbs. I'm trying to lose 35-55 lbs. My personal trainer suggested a 500 calorie a day deficit to promote weight loss (including exercise), however, whenever I log a day with that much of a deficit, MFP says I'm not eating enough and will go into starvation mode. I'm getting about 60g of…

5'8", 190 lbs. Goal of 135-155. Motivation help?
My doc says I need to lose at least 30 but more like 50 lbs as soon as possible for my health. I have hip dysplasia and the extra weight I've been carrying since my daughter was born is causing my hip joint to deteriorate. If it don't lose the weight, and soon, I'm looking at a hip replacement surgery. My problem is that I…

I could use some friends who read diaries.
I'm not new to MFP, but I keep giving up for short stints of time because I fall back into old habits and feel down on myself. I've lost 15 lbs so far but have about 35-55 more to lose. I don't always eat what I should or workout enough and it would be great to have someone that keeps me on track with constructive…

Projected Weight Loss?
A few months ago someone posted a link to a site that calculated your projected weight loss based on calories eaten/burned daily. I can't find it in my bookmarks now and would like to see what my new plan projects. Does anyone remember what it was or can you provide me with a different one? It would be MUCH appreciated!!…

22 lbs down, 49 to go!
Hi! I'm having a hard time staying on track lately and could use some motivation. I've tried rewarding myself and incentives and it works for a short time and then I fizzle out and start negative habits again. I'd like to add some new friends to help me stay motivated and to hold be accountable when I slack off. :D My…

Skinny Fat?
I keep seeing people say they are "skinny fat" or used to be "skinny fat" or want to be "skinny fat." What does that even mean? I thought skinny was skinny and fat was fat. LOL. I'm new here, so forgive the ignorance.

Anyone in Lafayette/West Lafayette?
I have a Newtone (gym) membership and I am looking for a work out buddy. I figured this was a long-shot, but I bet it's less nutty than craigslist. LOL. Anywho, I'm a 25 year old female with 2 kids and happily married. Not so happily married to the 70 lbs I've gained since I said "I do." That's gotta go. Who's with me? :D

I need more support!
I have been maintaining my weight for nearly 6 weeks and I'm ready to start losing again! My strategy is to lose around 20 lbs, then maintain for 6-8 weeks, and then do it again and again until I have reached my goal. I do it this way so that I don't gain all of it back, like I have in the past. I'm 5'8", 182 lbs. Size…

NSV!
I have a 200 crunch ab circuit that I try to do daily. When I first started, 2 months ago, I struggled to get them all done in 20 minutes. Tonight I did all 200 in 8 min and 30 seconds. I'm really proud of myself! Tomorrow I'm going to kick it up to 250. I'm bound and determined to see this flabby tummy out the door!

Protein Shakes?
Have any of you used protein shakes, and if so, what brands do you recommend? I'm struggling to get my protein in without going over calories and was told shakes might be a good choice for me. I'm hoping for something with 2-3 g of sugar or less. :D PS. My goal is 60-80 g of nutritional protein per day while staying within…

20 lbs barrier: BROKEN!
Small victory but I plateaued briefly at 20 lbs lost and am proud to say I think the plateau is over. I'm sitting pretty at 21 lbs down this morning. :D 46 lbs to go! What do you do when you hit a plateau? I ate less sodium, but more calories and drank as much water as I could stomach.

Butter!
Whenever I'm feeling bad about not having lost as much as I wanted, I think of this: One pound = 4 sticks of butter. So, the 20.4 pounds I have lost = 81.6 STICKS OF BUTTER! That's 81.6 sticks of butter I'm not carrying around anymore. And THAT is a good feeling. How many sticks of butter have YOU lost??

Insanity Friends?
I just started Insanity tonight and I'd love to have a few friends under my belt who are doing it too or who have done it to help keep me on track and motivated. I have about 48 lbs to lose and tone of flab to tone so I can use all the encouragement I can get. Please add me if you are doing or have done Insanity and want…

I just got a positive pregnancy test...
Now what do I do? I mean, I *JUST* started losing weight. Don't get me wrong, a baby is a blessing, but I'm less than thrilled about starting out a pregnancy at 190 lbs. My real goal for losing weight was to be healthy and fit during my next pregnancy. I feel...conflicted.

NSV!
Yesterday was my husbands company picnic at a theme park and I wore shorts. WHITE shorts. And today I saw pictures from yesterday on facebook and didn't cringe away. In fact, my face looks thinner. That's the first time I've noticed a change in myself. And last night my husband pointed out that he can tell I've lost…

What did you do BEFORE Insanity?
My husband bought the Insanity videos recently and he's been waiting for me to start it so we could do it together. He only needs to lose about 20 lbs, but he wants to tone and "bulk" eventually. I, however, have gained nearly 70 lbs in the last 3 years and just started losing weight about 3 weeks ago and I don't feel like…

Weak Arms
Can anyone suggest some simple (do it at home) exercises for tonight my upper arms? I am just starting out with weight loss and can barely do 1 pushup. But I'm tired of my wave-back arms (I wave, they wave back). I have lots of workout videos, but they are all for core, bum, thighs. I don't have any for arms.
