lunges = muscle soreness
OK, this may be a bit wordy but there may be several factors involved. Please bear with me because I'd really like some feedback. I'm a 58 year old male. My lifestyle is, unfortunately, almost entirely sedentary. I became disgusted with my weight around the end of September, changed my diet and started doing 30 minutes of…

planks -- doing them wrong?
I need to work on my abs. I started doing crunches but a) I'm not sure I understand them and b) they seem to stress my back to much (and I"m prone to lower back problems so I'm wary of that). Planks seem to be the current hot ab exercise. So I'm doing them. But I think I'm not doing them right or something. 1. They seem…

Broke 170! Woohoo!
After a 2+ month plateau at 172, my weight finally started dropping again recently and today for the first time the scale read 169 and change! 58 pounds down, 10 to go!

No longer overweight!
I still have another 10 pounds to go to reach my weight but as of a couple of days ago my BMI puts me in the "healthy" range. No longer obese, no longer overweight! Feels good.

ugh... loose skin!
OK, I know I should be celebrating (and I am) but now I'm staring at a consequence of losing weight that I hadn't considered. My friends (and I) never thought of me as obese although, technically, at 5'10" and 225 lbs I was. I've taken 50 lbs off that by changing my diet, doing cardio and now some strength exercises. I…

wow! way cool & unexpected
The end of last september I was having trouble getting in to my 38 waist slacks. I had to suck in my gut & hold my breath and even then I could just barely get them buttoned. But I couldn't bear the thought of buying 40s. So I changed my diet and started doing some cardio. I january I started adding a little strength…

WOOHOO! 50 lbs down, 25 to go!
FInally... my badge says 50 pounds lost! (Well, I didn't lose them... I know exactly where they went! :smile: ) I was beginning to think I was never going to see this. The first 48 pounds just ripped off at amazing speed. Then, just as I was anticipating celebrating, I hit my first plateau... and didn't lose anything for…

half way!
30 pounds down, 30 to go! I figure the first 30 was the easy part but I gave myself a year to do it and did it in 3 months. Now I figure a year to get the next 30.

stairs
I walk up/down three flights of stairs a minimum of three times a day (in addition to my actual exercise). I know it's not much but it must burn some calories and I'm curious how many it might be. Everything I find online only gives calories for a length of time climbing stairs and they all start at 15 minutes. I don't…
